For optimal use/preserve health ratio charge from 30 to 85%. Never leave phones/tablets/laptops in direct sunlight or in a hot car. Look through your settings, you might find a "limit battery charge" option. Some laptops have a battery utility program that allows you to stop charging once the battery reaches a certain percentage. This is especially useful for people who almost never disconnect their laptop from the charger. Set it to 50-65%, if you're one of those people, since this is the best charge state for stored lithium ion batteries. Only fast charge when you're in a hurry. Follow this advice strictly and enjoy >95% capacity after 2 years.
What abort wireless charging? Is that okey?
@@jenislyjensen From what I know wireless charging is just charging through magnetic connections, wireless charging is much slower than normal but still the same. From what others say just limit it to 65%
Charge between 30% and 85%: Keeping your devices within this range can help prolong the overall lifespan of the battery. Avoid consistently letting the battery level drop too low or charging it to 100% regularly.
Avoid direct sunlight and hot cars: Heat can have a detrimental effect on battery health, so it's essential to keep your devices away from direct sunlight or extremely hot environments like cars, as this can cause damage to the battery.
Check for "limit battery charge" option: Some devices have settings that allow you to limit the battery charging level. This feature can be handy if you often keep your laptop connected to the charger. Setting it to a lower level, like 50-65%, can help optimize battery health for long-term storage.
Utilize battery utility programs: Certain laptops may come with battery utility programs that offer additional customization options. These programs can include features such as stopping the charging process once the battery reaches a specific percentage. This feature is particularly useful for individuals who rarely disconnect their laptops from the charger.
Fast charge sparingly: While fast charging can be convenient when you're in a hurry, it generally generates more heat and can contribute to faster battery degradation. To optimize battery health, it's advisable to reserve fast charging for when you genuinely need it and opt for regular charging most of the time.

Keeping the phone between 20-80% is actually counterintuitive because you are giving up 40% of battery capacity already which is worse than a 2 year old battery
The less you use of the battery the more wasted capacity and shorter overall battery life you have
There is no real solution you either fully enjoy the battery in first year and cope with degradation after that or you can use only 70% and face the reduced battery effect immediately
Dont forget you can always replace your battery after 16 months or so
@Six Months Later Memes
Also if you want to limit the heat from fast charging you can disable fast charging before you sleep(from settings) and let the phone charge slowly overnight while being cool
And enable it when you wake up
@Six Months Later Memes
I dont think Samsung has such feature
@Milton Keenes how long it last greatly depends on usage.. the same phone can last less than a day or 2 days.
Also budget phones have a weaker and more efficient processor also their display doesn't consume as much battery because of lower resolution and refresh rate
The point is if you wish to use your battery's full capacity when required after a year of purchase at that time you will feel that the battery has degraded. If you can manage your entire day with 30-80% battery life cycle then why charge it till 100% and degrade the longevity ? When I know I may not be able to charge my phone while being on a trip or vacation or when I know I will need more juice as I am attending a party and I will have to click more photos and videos, then I charge it 100% and use my battery's full potential like it's the day One of purchase even after 2 years.
@Milton Keenes I agree with you. But most of the mobiles do not have 5000 mah battery. And 5000 mah battery also means 200gm + weight which is bulky and not very handy to use. That's why most of the manufacturers stay at around 4k-4500mah max and after 2 years of usage the SOT degrades to 3-4hrs.
I'm so glad google brought adaptive charging to my pixel 5. Still going to be sitting at 100% for a little.bit before I wake up but at least it's only there for a shorter period of time compared to many hours of sleep

Long story short, my battery swelled and busted the back off of my phone. So, I just replaced the battery and the back glass. Thank you for this information! Now I know what to do to maximize the lifespan of my new battery!
20-90% charge good?
80 is ideal...86-90 is tolerable
I just ordered the S22 Ultra and I'm upgrading from my Galaxy S10. I went through the battery health and phone health application on my S10 and it clearly told me that the battery is weak and it needs to be replaced. So this sparked my interest and made me wonder was there anything that I did over the years that caused the battery to be in such poor condition. For a majority of my phone's lifespan It was fast charged. About a year to 2 years ago I stopped fast charging my phone and started using a regular wattage charger. Hopefully that gave my battery a little bit more life but it's time to trade up. Thank you for posting this video This really help me.
Fast charging degrading your battery is a myth, you either slow charge for longer which means lower heat for longer or fast charge which means more heat for much smaller time, pick your poison.

What made me move from wired charging to wireless is USB-C slots eventually just...stop working properly. After 3 or 4 years of use, my Oneplus 5T's USB-C socket, while clean, just started to refuse to charge or detect when plugged in. You had to push the cable in really hard to get the phone to detect it was connected, and then would charge, but wouldn't fast charge, and the cable would only work when plugged in one way up, if you flipped it over it wouldn't detect anything. Really annoying.

One hack that has kept my phone battery life longer than usual is using a battery limiter device called Chargie. It manages my battery’s charge levels by capping it at a healthier level by maintaining the battery within that sweet spot. So, it can significantly extend the battery life and I get better long-term performance out of my phone.
Modern Smartphones ARE DESIGNED TO BE FULLY CHARGED TO 100% SO NOT DOING THAT MEANS THE FULL CAPACITY IS BEING WASTED
hello, just enquired is it bad if my battery is already 70+ and i charge it again while i’m not using it ?
Quick charging risk to battery wear is overrated. Let's say, a 65W 0-80 charge is likely to get the battery to around 42°C tops, a 30W one would go something like 37°C. To a 100 percent temperature will actually decrease in both situations due to how charging has to be done.
And they stay at this elevated temperature for just a very short period during it's lifespan.
But about charging it to 100 percent only when necessary, it's good advice.
This the the boomer equivalent of stop buying a daily coffee to afford a multi-million dollar house.
Been under charging my battery to 75-80% and using a slow (low wattage) charger and I'm at 98% battery health after 221 charging cycles. By comparison my spouse charges to 100% all the time with the same model phone and his is at 93% after 231 cycles ... Doesn't sound like much but that is a 5% difference in almost a year.
50 to 90 for 4 years, still works like new batt...
Well you should use the full 100% as doing that you are wasting 10% of the battery capacity
Now that I have a phone with a giant enough battery (5000 mAh), I only charge my phone to 80 percent each night (with a 15W charger). And even then my battery depletes to about 30 percent by night-time.
Hopefully this helps the battery health in long run.
Try to fully charge it sometimes. It will delete the battery States. bin which is good. Fully charging is good.

I've been using my Honor v10 for almost 3 years now and I've been maintaining the charge between 40 and 80% from day one. The battery has degraded a bit, but I would guess it's still around 85% of it's original performance. So in my experience keeping the phone off the charger when you're in the aforementioned range does help a lot. It's also easier now in covid times, when we're around chargers all the time anyway.

I‘m using my Huawei P10 since exactly 3 years. I charged it with the Supercharger from near dead to full overnight all the time, the one thing i avoided was heat. Today I measured its capacity with Accubattery by doing a full cycle and I still have 87% left. Charging doesn‘t have that big of an impact anymore, the devices know what they are doing and 100% on your phone are never 100% on your battery and the same goes for 0%. The P10 has a battery that reaches full capacity at 4.4 volts and should be dead around 3.3-3.4 volts. If the phone shows 100% its charged to 4.3 volts and at 0% its at 3.6 volts. So it‘s kept somwhere between 20-90% on its own.
I let a phone drop to 0% for a couple months. Reading some information makes it sound like it's a fire waiting to happen but I just charged it again and it seems fine.

The best thing you can do is to try and never let your battery die that is really hard on them everything else just let the phone handle it.
What about playjng with your phone while charging ?
The short answer is maybe. The long answer is no. Manufacturers WANT you to kill your battery. They want everyone on a yearly refresh cycle, and the battery degradation is the primary way to force someone to upgrade. Take Samsung for instance - their tablets have a battery setting that caps charging at 85% no matter how long you leave it plugged in. Their phones - no such setting. Sony at least slows down charging rate for folks who charge over night.
Each one could very easily offer the option to cap charging at 80% or 85%, but that would eat into upgrade cycle sales.
There is a cap at 85%, maybe you're talking about an older model/OS
My Samsung a13 has that option, up to 85% charge. And that's how I use it.
I charge my phone when I go to sleep and unplug the charger after waking up
I use wireless on my s20 plus and turn off fast charge. Takes about 4 hours to charge that way. But it is cooler and I only really need to charge at night
It will still degrade the battery though slow or fast charge it does not make any difference. The battery will still degrade overtime.
Should i upgrade my s8 to the a71?
Why do people care so much about battery degradation? You can easily get you're battery replaced?
"..because of the streain it puts on the internals of the cell' is rather vague! But why?

You know I pay Google $10 per month for the luxury of not seeing ads. Now I’ve noticed that every RUclipsr and his mother stick 3-minute sponsor ads smack dab in the middle of a story. You just can’t escape it anymore. We’ve traded in our souls to make money. You’re not a human, you’re a dollar sign with an attached SS#. Sad.
October 2023. Still using my samsung S7 Edge comfortably for the past 6 years and 8 months . I use it for many hours each day . No gaming .
Probably my battery doesn't last as long and it used to . But the difference is not that noticeable.
I tend to use my mobile while charging often. Also, I tend to sometimes keep the charger connected while the battery is full for extended times . Plus using it while full and connected!
It occasionally lags. It's usually smooth .
i have an s20 ultra does using it while charging harm it please i need an answer
does it use my battery if im using my phone while it is plugged in?
I use a Nexus 6p with android oereo. I noticed that if I charge it to 90% or anywhere below 100% it finds it hard to calculate the estimated time, it will not drop correctly, because the estimated will keep changing and prematurely drops the percentage. However, whenever I charge it at a 100%, it drops normally. Something weird is probably going on with the device health service app. It's funny because if the percentage drops because of the ET when I pluged it in after using it, I will see it jumping for example from 20% to 27% is like the 7% of the battery telling me "here we are. we are not dead, just hiding." do anyone have any ideas?
I always charge my Lg 51 phone to 90% before I take it off and I wait until I get to 50 or 60% to charge it back up and I don't charge it overnight
I Love Giant Battery on my S7+, Super Very Satisfying for Multimedia Consumption!!! 😍😍😍
Samsung S7?
@@shushantshrestha8957 what about it
@@isaac3360 I wasn't asking u Heh Mate🙄💩
My phone announces when it reaches 90 percent that it is charged, and conversely, when it reaches 15 percent, I get a notification that it needs to be charged
All the info given here is true. Thank you for bringing this to people's attention
I don't understand what is correct on this topic. The method expressed in this video is what I started doing with my Galaxy S9 after 14 months of use, and that's actually when I started seeing the battery life degrade to what it is now (battery will start quickly plummeting down as early as at 65%).
On the flip side, I was told by a battery store to instead always charge up to 100% when possible, and never dip below 50% (something to do with life cycles that they explained). Of course though, they're in the business of selling batteries, but it speaks to the conflicting accounts on this topic.
what's more important is depth of discharge
I would love not to charge the phone at 1% life if Google Pixels put decent sized batteries in the phone; my Pixel 3 dies after 2 hours of use.
And yeah, max charge issue could be solved with smart charging, I agree. I shouldn't have to babysit my phone just because I put it to charge when I go to bed. That's a manufacturer issue to solve, not something the consumer has to actively manage for battery longevity.
Yeah a lot of the issues could be fixed with smart charging! And I know sucks right! the premium ones aren't the greatest with battery I got the 3a and it gets me through the day fine doesn't push the phone very hard having a lower tier chipset although if you're really struggling you might want to try the software feature extreme battery saver it should add like a day or two of battery. Also the newer pixels like the 4a, 4a 5G, and 5 have Adaptive Charging so hopefully that helps with longevity a bit and I would love to see it come to 3, 3 xl, and 3a, 3a xl when Android 12 rolls around. Google finally got in the swing of things with sticking to the basics and do it good hopefully they keep it that way 🤔
@@micahjohnson9184 It's sad really. Would be fine with losing the headphone jack if it had a bigger battery. The Pixel line would be perfect phones if it weren't for the battery life. I went from a Samsung Galaxy S6 Active with a huge battery and durable construction to an amazing software experience all around but with a mediocre hardware experience. So many great Android phones out there with such big compromises. I can't move away from the Pixel now either because the call screening built in is such a lifesaver that not having it is very close to deal breaker territory. But dat battery...sucks that I'd have to get a new Pixel just to improve the battery. Aside from that, I'd be willing to stay with the 3; love everything else about it.
@@RojSlade yeah tell me about it the 3a is good but the 4a is better in almost every way its really tempting to upgrade even though I don't necessarily need to also we just got 'Hold for Me!' too! And the $15 per month plan for the pixel 4a is hella tempting 😂
Easily solvable if you root your device. There are some apps which can disconnect charging once you hit your desired battery percentage. No need to babysit at all.
When i charge overnight i have a timer on the charger.
It turns the charger off after 35 minutes of charge.
Ok how do you do that? Do tell??
I mean at this point just keep getting new batteries bruh
I use a much slower 10w charger whenever i have to charge my phone overnight
Try getting apple's 5w brick . Slowest in the business
@@mr.anonymous5961 I tried, surprisingly difficult to find one from a reputed brand though.
Apple has those lightening 5w chargers, but it's very scarce on the Android side i guess
@@its_rns yeah but one from apple 🙄
@@mr.anonymous5961 will it work normally with Android devices? No compatibility issues of any sort?
@@its_rns its a PD charger , works fine with any USB
Remember when you could have 2 batteries for your phone and just charge one while using one and swap them out when needed? Yeah I wish modern phones could still have swappable batteries. That would literally solve all this stupid battery issues. Battery starts to suck?... Just buy a battery not a phone
Then they wouldn't earn as much as they do now. So it makes sense they changed the battery system to not swappable batteries.
@@zirak93-2 that's my point. They don't care anymore about the customer
@@bensmith7857 yep
I charge from 20-80% every time, but is it better to charge with 20w iphone usb c charger or 5w charger?
I have samsung galaxy s20fe that I bought in october 2021. It had 1 day and 5 hours at max charge yesterday. Today the max it can last is 22 hours 40 minutes. Why did it drop so much overnight?
(I charged on fast charger to 100 percent. But it shouldn't come to wear this quick... Right?)
Fast Charging will age a battery quicker over time because Fast Charging generates way more heat
Avoid it at all costs
Some power banks has a battery chemistry of Lithium Iron Phosphate has more cycles reaching 80 percent of its capacity than the lithium ion and lithium polymer.
