    • @atheistlehman4420
      @atheistlehman4420 2 дня назад

      I think that's a bit of wishful thinking. This would have been a high-profile case, likely taking a long time to investigate and gather sufficient evidence for prosecution - that's just the reality of such cases. Even if the DOJ had moved immediately (which almost certainly wouldn't have happened regardless of who was in charge), SCOTUS would have found ways to delay the case, ensuring it bounced around in the federal courts.
      The courts were NEVER going to save us from Trump. That responsibility was always laid at the feet of American voters, and they failed.

    We needed a Bobby Kennedy type AG. Biden should have appointed Kamala Harris as attorney general. Or, if not Harris, an aggressive D. A. type like Doug Jones. Garland's prosecutor days were 25 years behind him, he'd been a judge for a quarter century. He had the wrong temperament for AG. Biden may have been trying to rectify the injustice of McConnell's stalling out his nomination for the Supreme Court, as well as nominating a centrist who would help in Biden's campaign to unite the country. A noble motive, but a misguided judgment.

I believe they were investigating Trump from the beginning, although initially focused on people at the bottom and worked their way up. I'm not going to armchair quarterback the AG and say that this should have been done differently. The federal courts were always going to take years to prosecute this case and get a resolution - SCOTUS saw to that.
    The ultimate failure lies with the American people and who they elected as President. The American people embraced fascism and narcissism in order to get cheaper gas and eggs. Expecting the courts to save us is a bit delusional.

But, I also have to acknowledge that I've always wondered what was really behind Garland's delay. A lot of people ascribe cowardice or caution to his inability to investigate Trump in a timely manner. But, I'm not sure if either is the case. I wonder if, by the time Biden was in office, Trump had left enough of his own right wing supporters inside of the FBI -an office that is supposed to be devoid of political influence - that Garland first had to weed them out before making a move? Is that even a remote possibility? I wonder.

Do you think for one second that if republicans were in charge of the investigations this would have gone as far as it did? Do you think for one second there would have been a J6 committee? Would there have been the FBI involvement to retrieve the classified documents? Point fingers all you want, you're wrong if you think Garland is the reason for a lack of accountability. Garland did exactly what he was put in place to do. Why do you think there was no Republican resistance to him being placed in the Attorney General position?

    After all these decades, aiming as low as the law will allow, can class t Joe at least go sign on the icc. Can we get that much, for old times sake.

    Yes! Merrick Garland is the biggest mistake. I cannot believe that the POTUS did not pick up the phone and say wat up dude? I expect you to prosecute Trump. Wink wink nod nod, I'm not telling you what to do officially
    Ultimate malpractice by both men

    Jack Smith has been amazing. I don’t think anybody can appreciate the pressure he has been under especially the last few months of the campaign. He lives with 24 seven protection. I think he will wrap everything up in a report he submits to Merrick Garland. I think Garland will most likely release it to the public. At least there will be a historical record of what transpired. Plus the decisions, perhaps, why certain people were charged and others were not.

    Biden should put up Jack Smith as a nominee for a Federal Judge

    I LOATHE His Obscenity, the Grifter-in-Chief, but I always knew tRump would walk away from all the charges and never be prosecuted.
    Smith did his job, with skill and fortitude. Garland is a milquetoast and an embarrassment.

    I agree 100%. Garland and the Mediocre Court (nothing supreme about them) let that orange creep get away with everything and he's just getting started with round 2.

    I had a lot of respect for Merrick Garland and then he sat on the case and did nothing, so respect went out the door. Jack Smith was put in place after republicans requested a Special Counsel , those same Republicans got mad because it was Jack Smith whose record is impeccable. When Merrick Garland was put up for SCOTUS and was denied a hearing by Mitch McConnell, I was mad. In hindsight I am glad Garland was blocked because Garland is a Catholic, who I think has a hidden ,deep connection to Opus Dei, whose members have been planning all of this craziness for over 50 years. Project 2025 is the manifesto that the Heritage Foundation and Opus Dei will be enforcing. Trump voters voted for Trump who has been the useful idiot of the overall plan, what they are now getting and will be getting in full force on January 20th 2025, is a country run by the Heritage Foundation and Opus Dei members who will put cash in front of trump along side any bill or executive order they want him to sign.
