It sounds great. I need to get one of these. They’re over $600 where I live. Once my brain gets used to the idea of spending that much on a compressor, I’ll get one. What great sound. 👍
I’ve tried every compressor on the market. Origin, keeley, blooms, blossoms on and on and on. The Ego is my favorite. It beefs up the mids and highs without making the bass boomy. Affordable too!
I’ve been using pedal compression for years. It’s an always on effect for me. The sound of this Origin Effects pedal is awesome. Not to mention your playing really brings out just what these pedals can do. If you haven’t yet, try it with a 12 string electric. It’s what those guitars absolutely need to make them shine. I’ll have to give this pedal a very close look. It ain’t cheap, but man it sounds glorious.
It’s always on for me too. I’m a compressor aficionado and I have a collection of compressors from the 70s-2000s. I should sell them and buy one of these. I’ve run two at the same time before and the sound is great, but the SlideRig is better. Why don’t those Chinese companies clone a SlideRig?
Just came across your channel and said 'hey I know that guy from the QM2!'... Really interesting content,Alex.. presented so professionally and then of course there is your lovely playing to enjoy... I wish you great success. Liked and subscribed.
Michael! Great to hear from you man. Yeah, I started posting on this channel a lot around the time I signed off in February 2020. It has been amazing for making living at home feasible
Very astutely explained and demoed! I have their Cali76 and absolutely love it. For my acoustic pedalboard (I play 99% acoustic), this is the ONLY pedal I was able to find that didn‘t color my acoustic tone (usually robbing it of upper and lower harmonics, making it sound flat and sterile, etc.). It does what it needs to do and stays out of one‘s way. Works perfectly for fingerpicking and strumming, leveling things out subtly. Having the dry blend knob is of course also priceless for acoustic. Flirted with the 2-stage compressor but decided the single-stage 76 is best for acoustic. It‘s only drawback: By serving up such great tone, it makes you spend oodles more cash on other high-end pedals so you don‘t mess things up further down in the signal chain. ;-)
Easily the best explanation I’ve watched regarding the SlideRig pedal and it’s controls/capabilities. I just bought one and about to put it on my board. I’ve read various opinions on where to place it in on a board. Some say at the beginning while others say after drive pedals. What are your thoughts?
Definitely before overdrives. Afterwards and the transients are crushed so much already that it doesn’t really have a job to do anymore. Before and you get that incredible sustain.
It’s been awhile, but I believe I chose this one because I wanted control over the threshold of both stages rather than just choosing how much spills over into the next stage. The stacked version I think has independent controls for attack and release instead and I didn’t think that was necessary for how I play.
It's been a long time since I went through the process of trying to figure out the differences of each of their pedals, but I believe I went with this one because of the ability to control the amount of compression for each stage and have a shared attack and release versus the opposite with the stacked edition. All the different versions of the Origin compressors are so confusing haha. I wish they'd make a simple video... "if you're looking for this, then buy this" you know?
@@AlexPriceMusician hahaha agreed, you ever use yours for vocal compression in the studio? I primarily use my pedalboard for guitar, but it's also been designed so I can reamp it and use the effects in audio production
I have the stacked edition compressor and the single stage cali. They are the best, highest quality digital compression money can buy and worth every single hyperinflated worthless dollar of the collapsing USD worthless currency. The best things are expensive, especially in a world where most stuff is garbage compared to things made before 1970. You can't get a clearer sweeter sound, or cleaner sustain, then with that stuff. That and my preamps are always with me.
I'm a slide player who likes D. Trucks, Elmore James, Robert Johnson, etc. I bought the big box sliderig when it came out but even on the single compressor it killed the organic sound to my ears. Just crushed it. So not for me. Glad it works for some. Peace.

All the guitar tones sounded really good, so I guess the Compressor did its job well. Thanks
Thank you !

Excellent demo!
I had a Boss CS-2 on my board for many years till this came along. Well worth the loot IMHO. Great video, thanks

Well done video! Super informative
Great video! Thanks for posting!
why did you go for the slide rig and not the stacked edition?
Great playing man! 💪
Pedal sounds great too. Thinking bout selling some of my other comps and getting one.
It’s brilliant I have one too.
Thank you for the information. Great video bro!!
Great playing !
Facial hair working out well! I used a compressor for a few months and never got on with them. Looks like you have! Best Regards!

I dunno if I want the stack or bass, but everything I know of these pedals is GODLY, why did you choose the sliderig over the stack?

@@AlexPriceMusician Ive wanted one of these for so long and everytime I approach the buying decision it's the same thing
I appreciate that they have all these versions, but it’s probably to the company’s detriment 😂
