Hello there, I just rebuilt one of these pumps at work and have a question about the seal spring retainer. It was installed when the pump was disassembled, but not reinstalled when the pump was reassembled. Should the spring retainer have been reinstalled, or is it not required?

We follow your video on rebuilding the same pump as yours but you did 2 big mistakes and you never address them in the comments at least. 1st The spring retainer has to be in place when you reinstall the spring and 2nd the big O-ring you put it in the wrong place the O-ring needs to be on the lip of the drum. not on the flange as you show. So I consider this video unprofessional and deceiving. If you put that o-ring in the place you put it you have a big leak. I was expecting from a technician like you to address these mistakes but you didn't this is why I wrote this to let others know your way is not the right way.

I agree on the TWO mistakes, furthermore, after the impeller is installed, the current impeller retaining nut (Torque to 38-FT LBs) has a groove for the second small O-ring. But, I'll share a tip a Gould's Field Tech shared with me, apply RED Loctite on the inside of the shaft sleeve from edge of ID sleeve to the shaft stop edge) to prevent water bypassing. Stick with the Tech Manual, you'll do okay.
