Hey Stuart, this is about the 7th or 8th video of yours I’ve watched in the last 3 weeks and I just want to express my appreciation.
I hadn’t been motivated to practice and my handicap suffered accordingly from 5 to 11 in the last 2 years. The week before I watched the first video of yours I shot a 95 and in the three rounds since I have shot 84, 81 & 79(with 37 putts). I just wanted to say thanks for giving me the motivation to practice (4 times in that 3 weeks) and providing me with some optimism about the future of my game.

Aha! Found me a fine rule of thumb here - negative FTP for a draw. 🙂 BTW, the Mevo+ club data has to be converted from "R and L" to "+ and -". A nice fellow on a forum explained that "find and replace" (control + F) gets it done for "most" columns on your spreadsheet. Puts em on the wrong side of the number for the "lateral yards" column for some reason.
Looks like I'll be stuck here getting through all your videos for a while. It shall clearly be time well spent. Very curious now about how much physics is in your background. 🙂 This is *really* good stuff. Just *love* seeing your demos backed up by the numbers.

I stopped using my driver recently as it was killing my scores, switched to 4 wood off a low tee.
Now ive seen your hand path advice I'll try again with driver. I assume that us duffers who can't hit a driver without a big fade tend to keep everything straight in the hope we get lucky?
A couple of years ago on the range i just decided to go for it and stop being so tense....i hit 10 consecutive drives dead straight over 200 yds. Never done it since.
But your advice on the hand path and turn has given me the confidence to get the driver out again....👍

Can't wait to go on the range and try this out.(I will update you on this soon)
At 9:04 you just mention my way of trying to fix the issue, and i also started to bow my wrist at the top in order to fix the issue, which sometimes make me do massive hooks.

@@GoodGolfCoaching Hi Stuart, the range session went very well in my opinion, slice disappeared, which was what i was looking for , but sometimes i did massive hooks, then i divided the difference of the error like you mention in the video, but sometimes the ball just went where i was aiming at :) .
It felt a bit weird at the beginning, my swing plane was not so around like yours, as i always had the idea of the pendulum in my brain which made my swing plane to be more steep.
Still have some work to do i guess , but i am happy that slice gone.
Can't complain much, as this was my first range session since October last year.
Thanks again for all the good info you put out there for free.

It all makes so much sense but I always had a hard time controlling the left ball flight. It could run for miles into all sorts of trouble and had lower spin resulting in poor results on windy days. My coach moved me to a fade over the course of one winter and everything improved. Distance, accuracy and dependability. My miss is now a straight pull, or a high short fade. Either of which are generally still in play and not costing me strokes. I hit my longest biggest bombs ever with a hot, tight fade. There is something about the draw though that calls me, it beat me I suppose and I want justice.

    • @ottawapop
      @ottawapop Год назад +1

This applies to my irons too, so much more control with a fade now. Actually I’m finding I should remap my irons because I’m hitting longer than I used too. Nothing in the world I hated more than watching a draw go left, then more left and then a little more into the hazard.

Hey, hey hey, I am going mental, I cannot wrap my head around moving the handle to the right, I know all my stinkin heal shots are exactly as you describe, but where in the swing arc does my handle move to the left...? I mean, if you keep your hands in, or close to the body at finish does that accomplish moving the handle to the left....I mean, it does...right...? So, I have been thinking about a high finish and the right forearm covering the left; and that works for me, but than I lose something and I am hitting heal shots, so I must be late....anyway, for swing speed, don't you have to finish with the hands high and not wrapped shoulder level around...I don't have an image or process that clicks with my brain...moving the handle left...the stinkin handle is always gonna ultimately go left...so, whats the distinction...thanks, good golf coaching, but I ain't a good golf student.

I liked it. I am really thankful to you for revolutionising my game. I want to know the distance you get with the driver and 7 iron.
      Also your name please.
I am a retired colonel, 65 years old

Hi Stuart, another thought provoking video that makes perfect sense but as you eluded to...ref the handle path...my brain tells me I'm going to hook the ball given this path, i am out this afternoon & will give it a go but what would be the causes & fix please for a hook given the handle path ?

A really good question Deamon, regards the hook instinct. So many push the handle right, which inspires more rotation to contrast the open face. Now the handle track facilitates the square/closed face, now look at ingredients like “grips too strong” “too much face rotation” “too flat left wrist” “casting in downswing” - it could be any number of these errors, that are, and I can’t stress this enough, symptoms of a golfer trying to push the path inside out and causing heel strikes and bend right golf balls. Go forward my friend with the knowledge this will inspire a positive reaction. Let me know how it goes this afternoon. Best of luck, Stuart

@Intelligent Golf Performance - Stuart Cartwright
Good day Stuart...Many thanks for your prompt & detailed reply...My first 3 drives were as expected, a kind of low hook, then I remembered your video & so I aimed a little right & this gave me a better hit both with my Driver & Irons..my grip is weak / neutral but your other suggestions, club face, casting & flat wrist could be applicable, so I've decided to take my self to the driving range this weekend & apply your theory.
Many thanks, very much appreciated your tuition.
