I’ve daily worn my JLC Geophysic 1958 limited edition for about 8 years now. I can tell you, it’s a fantastic watch from an incredible Manufacturer. Highly recommend JLC!
If they put this out in a 39mm case, there would be a feeding frenzy. Unfortunately, that movement would need to come down by at least 2mm in thickness but still....the tones of olive green and the different dial finishes are an absolute knock out of the park.

Fun video to watch!!! The Polaris is a great choice!! I bet that watch looks fantastic with a black crocodile strap. JLC is impossible to beat when it comes to value for each dollar invested. I have 2 myself.

@@philo2197 both, in a way! I wear it as a regular for a week or more, then rotate to another. Easier than switching things up every day. It gets good wrist time overall!
The boutique on Madison in the 70’s (I think)? Really nice people there.
I love the Mariner Date lineup. A little upsetting however that they made all the Polaris Mariners boutique exclusive at least in the U.S. I would rather buy all my watches at my AD.

Glückwunsch zur Boutique Edition, sieht super aus. Einzig die Lochabstände am Kautschuk sehen etwas groß aus. Machen leider sehr viele Hersteller so. ( Perfect fit). Die GP, gerade mit diesem Blatt genial.

@@philo2197 I have a couple of other JLC's, a Reverso Duoface and a Master Control chronograph, which are more dress watches. I don't own any Rolex besides my Datejust that I only wear if I am in a suit, which is hardly ever. This watch basically shares wrist time with my Breitling Premier and my GS SBGH271 in the summer.
Please do a review of the Polaris date. I hope to see the measurements.
Amazing dial
There is a new/unworn Polaris 41 on steel bracelet for sale in Germany here by a private seller and nobody wants it since months. The seller reduces its price further and further. It currently is at just EUR 5750 (retail is at EUR 8700). I think it’s a pity for such a great brand like JLC that their watches are so underappreciated. However, I myself do not pull the trigger because the watch does not speak to me. The Panerais in your video are much more interesting designwise, in my opinion.
I feel like JLC is a much better buy than Rolex(especially with todays prices). However, the design of the Submariner is just timeless to me. Shane that I won’t ever get to own one now that they are Instagram/RUclips status symbol

I love the JLC brand. I have never had the privilege of making a purchase from a boutique. It appears to add value to the experience. I would be remiss if I did not mention how good your friends Girard Perregaux Laureato looks under the light.
Buying from the boutique is great if you like attending their events, getting advanced notice of new releases, etc. JLC def has great customer service in that regard. The downside of buying from the boutique is that the benefits are only ever going to be JLC related. I chose to buy my MC Chronograph Calendar from WoS instead of the JLC boutique b/c the spend history will help me get a PP I’m chasing.

Great watches, my favorite is my Speedmaster Sapphire Sandwich current generation. Seamaster is also a great buy, just wish they would improve the bracelet.

I saw this watch today and although it was an absolute beauty, the lack of screw-down crowns really bugged me. Dive watches have certain basic features - regardless of if they ever see the water - and screw-down crowns are an essential part of the deal. Otherwise, great looking watch.
Screw down crown only prevents “user error” (accidentally pulling it out) from what I understand … not actually more water resistant by definition
In most cases you are correct, especially with external divers like a Submariner. With an internal bezel watch like the Polaris or the IWC Aquatimer, you do not want a screw down crown. If you dive with the watch, you set the bezel once you are in the water. Unscrewing the crown to set an internal bezel in the water will cause water damage. You set the start of your dive with the crown and do not need to unscrew it.

That watch is the best watch for its price class. That’s a beauty. I was at Blvagri store and tried the standard stainless steel Octo priced at $13500. And frankly the quality for that price was extremely poor.
They are a fashion watch dude, not a serious brand so no surprise it was below par. JLC are top tier serious watchmakers.

For some, lack of “hype” is a feature and not a problem.
It’s a huge turnoff having her show me the watch first and point out obvious things to anyone with eyesight & that I already can see for myself, she pointed out the texture on the rubber strap, telling him that it’s beautiful when it’s just rubber with molded stifling and she wants you to know that it’s a mechanical movement, like you don’t already know that …she’s not even a watch girl, she has no watch on. It’s just a commission with no salesmanship because you’re the one that decided to pick that watch. I wouldn’t want her to tell me anything about my watch that she knows nothing about and I would tell her “please don’t even try to pretend you sold me this watch and know anything about it”
This guys wrist is wayyy to big
