Excellent tips on maintenance--I'll keep this in mind when the need arises. I also notice that the punches have ~1" of cutting surface, so these can be resharpened for years, if not decades. To other viewers here in the states, I'd recommend a penetrating lubricant called Boeshield T-9. It leaves a protective waxy residue that will keep moisture out--very useful if you live along the coast like I do. Dunno why this costs in the UK 5X the US price.
Not heard of Boeshield. Here in the UK WD-40 is by far the most common. But David at Pepetools does recommend something a little heavier for protection of the tools. So your Boeshield sounds perfect. I also keep my cutters in a plastic box with a bag of sillica gel (those little bags you get in packaging). to keep it dry. Likewise I live by the sea, in the North England, so everything is damp and salty, not good at all for steel tools. Thanks for the tip. Dave
This sharpening tip is so good!! It serves for so many things and I always seem to forget to use it... Heheheh... Will put it in the middle on my bench to remember to use it! hehehe
A blunt tool isn't much use, but now you know how, it's easy to bring them back to new. Dave
Nice vid. Just one thing: Pepe clearly states in the disc cutter instructions NOT to use WD-40. It is corrosive. Instead, Pepe says use 3-in-One oil only for protection.
My workshop is quite damp, being near the sea and the salty air. So for me WD-40 acts as a moisture repellent. The aerosol spray is also very convenient at covering everything. But you are correct, David from Pepe (who designed these), does recommend 3 in 1 oil to protect all Pepe steel tools. Dave.
Espacialy Autosol is considered to be very abrasive I have been told. It was my first crome polish when I bought my first motorcycle.
Yes Autosol is a "slightly" abrasive metal polish. Hence it helps to remove oxides and rust. Good stuff. Dave.

hi Dave after watching your video on this tool I bought one and it serves me perfectly! However I have been wondering how I would be able to sharpen the punches and as usual you come up with the goods. Good suggestion, I've not tried that. The problem is, that you need the abrasive to be dead flat. Hence the emery sheet on a flat surface. A sharpening stone may be great when new, but they tend to get beveled over time. This could cause the punch be ground unevenly and concave. Perhaps not visibly noticeable but it could seriously affect its performance and lifespan. So I would still suggest a sheet of emery paper on the bench top as the best method. Dave.

You live in the north of England by the sea so rust is a problem, I live in the driest state in the driest country on the planet
and even here rust is a problem
