@@FPLTV you've done a great job, i heard something like cheap highly owned players like Greenwood in Leeds actually drop with increase in ownership, true?
I’d say that’s false. They won’t drop by literally increasing in ownership. What I’d imagine is that due to them being highly owned, simply means they’ll be subject to more transfer activity and importantly transfers OUT once the season begins. Therefore, I think that increases the possibility of them reaching their price-drop threshold when compared to other less owned enablers.
Questions so far: Q: When do the price changes happens? A: This video is still up to date, and price changes happen at roughly 01:30 (GMT). Q: How are the thresholds calculated? A: Sadly the thresholds are and have always been hidden by FPL. I've taken the following directly from the official website: 'Both the formula used to calculate this change and the time of the change include variable factors, and won’t be revealed to game players.' Q:Thank you for this video. Had a question. In your examples, if I purchased a player for 8.0, and his price increases to 8.1, I understand my selling price for him is still 8.0. But does that mean I keep 0.1 in the bank? So that I can potentially purchase another player, who has risen from 8.0 to 8.1? A: No sadly it doesn’t. You won’t just have the extra 0.1m profit sitting in your bank to spend elsewhere, and the player in question can still only be sold for 8. That 0.1 rise will only ever be linked to that specific player, it can’t be used elsewhere.
Price changes being only determined by net transfers is so outdated. They need to have total ownership also affect price. If a 10m player has 0.0% ownership, as it stands now he will never drop in price. They need to have some sort of mechanism to alter price based on ownership, as well.
i don't know if you'll see this but i was wondering if you can do another video like this one explaining fpl drafts, i get frustrated whenever I'm reading tutorials on it and i think a lot of other managers out there also don't know much about it
I’m very aggressive in terms of early transfers and build up squad value such that I’m usually 2mil above the top 100k in the final quarter of the season. It’s risky, but usually I have a very strong late season when it’s hard to make it up the ranks. Eye test and jumping on a form player is also important.
This is my first season playing FPL so thank you for the detailed explanation however I'm still confused as to how that "hidden threshold" for a price change is calculated. I know there are FPL related websites that do a good job of warning you about an upcoming price rise or price fall but I would still like to have some idea how it is actually calculated. The reason I'm asking is because many FPL content creators are saying we should avoid highly owned bench fodder players because they have a higher chance of dropping in price. I don't understand why this is since I was under the impression that the threshold is based on a percentage of the total ownership of a player so the total number of ownership shouldn't affect the likelihood of a price change. Am I wrong?
Hiya mate. Sadly the thresholds are and have always been hidden by FPL. I've taken the following directly from the official website: 'Both the formula used to calculate this change and the time of the change include variable factors, and won’t be revealed to game players.' I would imagine content creators are suggesting this because the enablers with higher-ownership could therefore be subject to more transfer activity OUT in the opening weeks? Thus being more in danger of hitting their threshold and getting a price-drop. I'm not sure if this is correct but just my take.
The thresholds must be based on the starting number of people with that player. You always see (if you look at the transfers out on the stats page) a load of low ownership players reducing in value. Also some of the bench fodder, like Greenwood have ownership of over 20%. When people start using their first wildcard these numbers can fluctuate a lot
Also forgot to mention there are a lot of people who try to win manager of the month in the first month so will use all chips in quick succession, so will wild card in week 2-4
Thanks for the comment and the feedback! You're absolutely right. Price freezing has always been a bit of a grey-area, with no clear definitive rule and so many variables. For this I deliberately left that part out through fear of getting it wrong myself! It's still an excellent point however. I'll try and put together a response tomorrow.
I’ve made money on Toney . Bought at 7.7 he’s now 7.9. However, whenever I click remove player it only adds the 7.7 buying price and not 7.8 profit price that I made on him, any idea why?
When do you get the actual profit? Currently having rodrigo on my team bought in at 6.2. current price is 6.4. But when I’m trying to sell him I can’t see the 0.1 profit in the bank?
Hello, thanks for video. I have question regarding price of Daniel Iversen (Leicester GK). Unfortunatly I can not upload the screen so I'll try to explain withot screen. At first when he had 248388 SB his price was 4,0 mln, which decreased to 3,9 mln when his SB decreased to 200227. Now he has 452725 SB (almost 2 times more than at start of the season) but his price is still 3,9 mln. Is there some logic? And also why SB price plus or minus (depend it increased or decreased) next NT price it is not equal to next SB price? Thank you in advance
2:01 this is what I don't understand, sometimes a player's price doesn't even go down when millions sub him out week after week but someone can blank one game and his price goes down the next day. For example Salah and James this season. They must have someone clicking the confirm button and do what favors their own team. Very shady.
I’d suggest re-watching this video which explains this in-depth. Current price and selling price are different. You need a 0.2m price rise to gain 0.1m profit. If a player only rises by 0.1m more than what you’ve paid for them (like your examples), then your selling price won’t increase.
I'm a 1st time FPL manager, I made transfers but to my surprise new players are only appearing on my side, on the league I still have those that I had last weekend(the ones I sold), why is that!?
Probably because you’re still previewing your score from the previous week? Which includes the old players? If you’ve made transfers they should be on your squad on the ‘team’ page. And once the deadline for the new gameweek arrives you’ll see them on your points page too.
Yes, but on the wildcard you have to be especially careful. As it’s more common to have fun and make lots of transfers on the wildcard and lose lots of value without even realising. I have a video about this coming out soon!
I would slightly disagree with Tip #2. Last season Son’s price increased out of nowhere. Suspect the FPL towers do have some control and will intervene.
That’s true. I agree with you that some very questionable activity definitely happens with regards to price rises - however I’m an information channel that can only explain the rules as they’re given to us. Suspicious activity from FPL towers themselves is not something I can control or explain.
No, not whilst a game is being played - as no football match is played at 01:30 GMT. However the price changes can happen overnight during a gameweek, between Saturday and Sunday for example.
Thank you for this video. Had a question. In your examples, if I purchased a player for 8.0, and his price increases to 8.1, I understand my selling price for him is still 8.0. @@FPLTV Thank you for your reply. That is a bummer. I also just learnt that, even if you are on a wildcard, and you decide to transfer out a player who has risen from 8.0 to 8.1. You can only sell him for 8.0. And if you try to transfer him in again, you may not be able to (assuming you have no funds in the bank), because you need to buy him in at 8.1!!! Is that right?

In both your examples, the purchase price is 7.0 and the current price is 7.0, so the selling price will be 7.0 in both cases (the flunctions in-between are not relevant).
All prices are frozen during pre-season and until the Gameweek 1 deadline. After that once the game starts, player prices begin to drop through-out the season if enough managers transfer them out.
I sold Kulusevski because his value went up to 8.2 million. So glad I transferred him now instead of the week before. Edit: I also sold matip who dropped to 4.9 million I think? I got lucky because Kulusevski went up .2 million so I didn’t lose any profit

Prices are rigged. In 2024 GW 4, there is no reason why Isak should still be at 8.5 without going down or Mazraoui still at 4.5 without going up. Also, Solanke, has the most transfers out for the entire season thus far is still at 7.5. Prices are rigged, its not an algorithm, and actual humans with biases are in control.
