There's probably few hundred dollars worth of materials in a whole thing. It's how much they decide to charge for work. You know, there is market for those things. Hard to deny - it is beautiful. But the price tag is still hilarious. Edit. Actually I was curious. I couldn't find any information on weight of this watch. Their official page is too cool for actual information to be displayed. So I just took a weight of an average Submariner of 155g as my very rough weight estimate. It can't be too far off either way. So let's say it's 150g. Current price of platinum is around 27 dollars per gram. That means if this thing was a solid chunk of platinum it would cost just around 4000 dollars.
MrCorvusC I do agree and believe that it is a marvel of engineering and precision. The price they charge is 90+ percent because of the amount of time and craftsmanship put into the production of each one of the hundreds of pieces And their assembly. Unlike most of the commenter, I would be very tempted to buy it if I had the money, not as a piece of jewelry but an engineering marvel.
@@Quicksilver_Cookie the watch has hundreds upon hundreds upon hundreds upon hundreds upon hundreds of man hours spend into it. Yes, a piece of platinum cost less, but you're not taking into consideration how the platinum is given shape, finished, and polished. Not only that but this process of making the case of the watch is only done by a few select people, whose skill is getting rarer and rarer by the day. That is just the case of the watch, you also have to take into account the rest of the components that are finished painstakingly to the macrometer by hand, without the help of machines. Even the smallest component that won't see the light of day ever again is finished to this standard. If anything the packaging cost a few hundred dollars
IDK about the price, but otherwise, so cool. I would love to see a doc on start to finish making it - from engineering to fabricating the parts to tuning it up ready to roll out the front door. I can't quite wrap my head around the idea of something so miniaturized and complicated being hand-assembled and tuned. Would love to know how they do it.

That glow in the dark feature got me sold!
It probably cost $4.50!
The price they charge is 90+ percent because of the amount of time and craftsmanship put into the production of each one of the hundreds of pieces
And their assembly.

That’s what I was thinking, what if you broke the “glass” material? I highly doubt it’s glass though
