WanMafi According to lytge-info.dk, the C-3100 momentarily turns off charge current b4 reading battery voltage. That takes intelligence others might not have? It would cause lower readings. I haven't seen NiMH battery intended to be charged to > 6.x volts?
If your charging regular 18650s then keep it on the original setting. Most chargers will have that + or - % and 4.15v is just fine. There isnt much difference from 4.15 to 4.2 when capacity checking the cells. 👍🔋

I have 5 Opus BT-C3100's and I love them all just the same, I have no favorites. I paid $39 for a couple, $31 for a couple more, and $12 for one. The $12 one I got from Hong Kong, and yes I had to wait 3 week for it to show, but come on, $12, who cares. Yeah Ive used that one as well. Its good. Honestly it really depends on what your doin. If your testing 1000s of 18650s like I was doing, the opus is a great charger for that cause its fast. If your just charging a few random batteries here and there, the lii-500 or zanflare are cheap and work great.

From all of my testing(100's and 100's of cells on this charger) The fan can be a little noisy but so far its pretty solid! I would recommended it to anyone. A BIG disadvantage for me about the miboxer c8 is it doesnt have a discharge function and that option is the only real way to test a batteries capacity to see how much life is left. The miboxer c4 I believe has the discharge function but I cant say how good or bad that charger is since I havent used it yet.
Is it better than Xtar VP4 Plus Dragon? I see it has lower minimum charge current. But i'm asking in terms of charge quality. Most of people say no, because Opus is manufactured and reworked by many people. However Xtar focuses constantly on it and probably the same people are making the technologies to the chargers. What you think?
I think the xtar is a slightly better charger and I think the IR test is waaaay better then opus. Dont get me wrong, the opus is a good charger(faster too) but the xtar is closer in capacity test with many of my other chargers.
Any thoughts on the Liitokala Lii-500 charger vs the Opus or Foxnovo? The LiFe capability is nice but the price difference was the kicker for me. The features seem pretty nice on the Lii-500 but I've had issues with robustness. I've had to replace two of the 8205s (dual n-channel MOS FETs) inside after accidentally touching two battery positives together while removing them from the charger. Lets the magic smoke out of the smd fets on the charger circuit. They were pretty obvious to find as they were bubbled and charred. Easy and cheap to replace though (the fets are like 14 cents each). Have you had any channels go down on your Foxnovas after incidents inserting or removing cells?? Thanks!!

My issue is that I've left the paired batteries tied together (I've designed a 3D printed holder to accommodate paired cells) but that sometimes leaves the "tails" (where the pairs are connected to the pack BMS) hanging out so MY process is more vulnerable to "bad touching"... I really like the operation of the Littokala. When you get it, keep in mind there are two test modes- the FAST mode measures how much charge the battery takes after being discharged, and the NOR (for normal) charges them first then measures actual discharge capacity which is what I THINK you want to measure. I always use NOR test mode. If you do manage to let any smoke out, the part that gives up is the 8205 fet and it is fairly easy to replace- if you need some, let me know- I bet your Paypal account has my email address...
If you go with a sunkko I hear you should get a 220v www.banggood.com/custlink/KGKGWCLUz7 cause the 120v versions dont have enough UMPH to do a decent job. Thats what I hear from everyone that has gotten the 120v.
Regular Li-ion, Ni-cad and Ni-mi you dont need to change anything. If you want to do the lifep04 then you need to take the back off and move the switch.
as my soldering crap.i has a solder station cheap one worked ok but i broke solder iron an cant get replacemnent.wel thought i did get replacement clone but it started to smoke as was not wired up right.can still use as hot air gun .
I'm going to see if my BT-C3100 v2.0 has the switch inside, I thought it autodetected all that but I'll find out. Meanwhile I'll see if I can spot problems on the board for my second slot always thinking there is a cell in place, and if I can fix the spring on the fourth slot. It looks like that v2.2 doesn't delay as long after switching modes to take effect. If mine has a switch, I'm going try some 18650 cells in discharge test at 4.2V again and switch it to 4.35V and try discharge test again and see if the numbers are any higher. Most 18650 cells handle 4.35V just fine although not much power comes out of the 4.2-4.35 range.

I'm confused. You charged with the internal option switch at 3.7V. Shouldn't the resulting end-charge voltage of your cell be somewhat close to that? It showed 3.36V and you got over 95% of manufacturer stated capacity. I never worked with LiFePo_4s before so I guess it could be a chemistry thing.

I actually could have recharged it to 3.7 and then the cell settles on its own to 3.3v I think I have heard that before for these types of cells. Hi, Is the 3,7V switch really for charging Lifepo4 (Lfp) , I'm not sure...the best maxi charge for Li-Ion is 4,2V and not 4,35V...And for Lfp it's 3,6V MAXI and not 3,7V (best at 3,55V) . It can accept 3,7V but it's not good for the future of the battery. I think it would be better to use this switch position for Li-Ion storage. I made a little hole in the backcover at the good place, so i don't need to open everytime i need to change the voltage. This charger seems not built for LFP, it's a shame, it was not difficult to include this function . The Top would be to have the choice with a 3,6V (3,55V) position for Lfp , and 4,15V for Li-Ion...Some Mah less, but much better for battery life.
My understanding is lifepo4 is very accepting of over-voltage charging, perhaps up to 4.2 without significant* damage. But, I'm wondering if it's not really 3.65v, and they just rounded up. Given the chemistry's tolerance. ???

I'll mainly use it for charging 18650 3500 mah, 14500 750 mah Li-ion, eneloop aaa 750 mah ve eneloop aa 1900 mah Ni-MH batteries, discharging them for maintaining (don't know whether I need it), learning how much energy inside them and their how much life span left and other issues which I don't know. Because I don't enough have knowledge on the subject, batteries. Is it possible to do this with this machine?

Laaaaaa..the almighty opus. Too funny bro! I drilled a hole in the back of the case of mine to access the "secret switch" lol I have the digital charger 4s, which I think is the same as the foxnovo. Have always found the opus doesn't fully charge cells. Also it is generous with capacity readings, usually about 100 mah more than the 4s testing the same cell. They are a good cheap unit though
Its amazing that there isnt a switch on the outside!! Yeah the digital 4s is pretty much the samzies! If Im around when the discharge cycle is done Ill usually swap them over to the Tp4056 charger and those only go up to 4.15ish volts and Im cool with that. I havent compared the 2 yet but will here soon to see how much difference there is 👍

A lot prefer this charger over the litto Kalla But I think the Littlo Kalla is more accurate. At least from the chargers I have. This charger is faster since it can do 1a discharge!
Perfect timing! I just got mine yesterday and already planning on buying more. Have to shop around and see how the prices are and delivery times. I got mine from Amazon because I know there is easy return if I get a lemon. Didn't know about the hidden switch. Saw one review that showed $59 price and know I won't be buying from there.
I need to get more Opus chargers.. can't have enough of 'em when I get a batch of cells to process! I pronouce LiFePO₄ like "Liffy", much easier and distinct! LiFePO is awkward to pronounce and sounds too much like LiPo, which are lithium polymer pouch cells.
There's another feature - pressing "slot" after you change mode will cut the 10s wait short. They do seem to have reliability issues though - the third slot on both of mine failed after a few weeks, so am now down to only being able to test 6 at a time. Still, it's good that there's some level of redundancy. Hopefully they'll produce an updated version that'll address this.
No idea, just one started misbehaving and showing stupid values making it untrustworthy, and showing it charging when there was no cell there, and the other just spontaneously blew something and let out the magic epoxy smoke. Still, the others appear to work fine for now! Another tip, don't let one fall off your lap onto its dc connector - the plug is longer than the socket, so it pushes through and breaks it. Fixing it by trying to make solder bridges to reconnect the contacts was tedious but ultimately successful!

I have a similar charger for Nimh and NiCad batteries. I really don't care for it. It is slow to charge and the menu isn't very user friendly. In the end it does the job, but I have other chargers that work better.
The opus seems to charge fairly quick compared to some of my other chargers. This one has a few things that Im not fond of but all in all its a great charger!!!
For me it's the user interface, I find it odd and not easy to use. It works well though. I have a different charger that I use more to do ease of use. I use this one when I want to recondition or freshen a cell. Not a bad charger, just not the easiest to use.

For AA & AAA id get a cheapo as long as you can change the charge mah.

After testing 60 18650s slot one went bad. Continues to charge. And always shows active even when battery was removed.

My math could be wrong. The power supply is 3 amps at 12 volts. So it you are charging 4 18650s at 1 amp each at 4.2 volts. How does that work?

Is the 3,7V switch really for charging Lifepo4 (Lfp) , I'm not sure...the best maxi charge for Li-Ion is 4,2V and not 4,35V...And for Lfp it's 3,6V MAXI and not 3,7V (best at 3,55V) . It can accept 3,7V but it's not good for the future of the battery.
I think it would be better to use this switch position for Li-Ion storage.
I made a little hole in the backcover at the good place, so i don't need to open everytime i need to change the voltage.
This charger seems not built for LFP, it's a shame, it was not difficult to include this function .
The Top would be to have the choice with a 3,6V (3,55V) position for Lfp , and 4,15V for Li-Ion...Some Mah less, but much better for battery life.
My understanding is lifepo4 is very accepting of over-voltage charging, perhaps up to 4.2 without significant* damage. But, I'm wondering if it's not really 3.65v, and they just rounded up. Given the chemistry's tolerance. ???

Based on all this, I'm taking the plunge and going to try lifepo4 with this charger. I wonder what criteria we could use to confirm a successful experiment.

Hi. Nice video. Do you suggest this chicken? As far as I learned after many hours of searching this is one of the best chargers on the market. I'll mainly use it for charging 18650 3500 mah, 14500 750 mah Li-ion, eneloop aaa 750 mah ve eneloop aa 1900 mah Ni-MH batteries, discharging them for maintaining (don't know whether I need it), learning how much energy inside them and their how much life span left and other issues which I don't know. Because I don't enough have knowledge on the subject, batteries. Is it possible to do this with this machine?

I have the digital charger 4s, which I think is the same as the foxnovo.
Have always found the opus doesn't fully charge cells. Also it is generous with capacity readings, usually about 100 mah more than the 4s testing the same cell.
They are a good cheap unit though
Its amazing that there isnt a switch on the outside!! Yeah the digital 4s is pretty much the samzies! If Im around when the discharge cycle is done Ill usually swap them over to the Tp4056 charger and those only go up to 4.15ish volts and Im cool with that. I havent compared the 2 yet but will here soon to see how much difference there is 👍
Offgrid Dreaming haha yep mine very rarely will charge to full 4.2 maybe its to help with battery charge cycle life. Like a lot of cordless tool batteries do. They charge under 4.2 on each cell. I still want 4.2 darn it I wonder if i switch to 4.35 I would hit full 4.2 lol

A lot prefer this charger over the litto Kalla But I think the Littlo Kalla is more accurate. At least from the chargers I have. This charger is faster since it can do 1a discharge!

Perfect timing! I just got mine yesterday and already planning on buying more. Have to shop around and see how the prices are and delivery times. The Opus shows about 10% more mAh than the Foxnovo,but the opus is 4 times faster than the Foxnovo :)

I pronouce LiFePO₄ like "Liffy", much easier and distinct!
LiFePO is awkward to pronounce and sounds too much like LiPo, which are lithium polymer pouch cells.
Yeah its a pretty nice charger!!! The beep is quieter as well and a different tone lol. In a different part of videoing I kept saying lipo lol
There's another feature - pressing "slot" after you change mode will cut the 10s wait short.
They do seem to have reliability issues though - the third slot on both of mine failed after a few weeks, so am now down to only being able to test 6 at a time. Still, it's good that there's some level of redundancy.
Hopefully they'll produce an updated version that'll address this.

No idea, just one started misbehaving and showing stupid values making it untrustworthy, and showing it charging when there was no cell there, and the other just spontaneously blew something and let out the magic epoxy smoke.
Still, the others appear to work fine for now!
Another tip, don't let one fall off your lap onto its dc connector - the plug is longer than the socket, so it pushes through and breaks it. Fixing it by trying to make solder bridges to reconnect the contacts was tedious but ultimately successful!

I have a similar charger for Nimh and NiCad batteries. I really don't care for it. It is slow to charge and the menu isn't very user friendly. In the end it does the job, but I have other chargers that work better.
The opus seems to charge fairly quick compared to some of my other chargers. This one has a few things that Im not fond of but all in all its a great charger!!!
For me it's the user interface, I find it odd and not easy to use. It works well though. I have a different charger that I use more to do ease of use. I use this one when I want to recondition or freshen a cell. Not a bad charger, just not the easiest to use.
