Skin1004 is pronounced Skin Chunsa, which means Skin Angel. 1000 is chun and 4 is sa in korean. Its a play on words
So cool
Thank you so much for this info! I always wonder about the meanings/origins of the Korean and Japanese products. It’s very cool knowing this tidbit! ☮️💜
Thank you. That was a beautiful aside.
@@primordialmeow7249it’s not “max” UVA/UVB protection. It’s only PA+++ . The gold version is better (PA++++)
Thank you! Love that! Will be so nice to know how to pronounce it as I ordered it several weeks ago and it should be arriving next week, fingers crossed!
As someone with sensitive skin and rosacea, I really appreciate you mentioning when products don't contain essential oils! They wreak havoc on my skin and tend to give me migraines, especially bergamot and lavender oils, which seem to be in SO many beauty products. Thank you!
Same! Lush is my skin's worst nightmare. They throw EO in every damn thing.
Hello, fellow rosacea fighter. 😂 Mind telling us what Sunscreen you use that your skin loves? I'm on a search right now. I use Australian gold and it's pretty much perfect but it's way to drying sometimes. 😢
My skin handles cotz. It is moisturizing and covers my redness. I have to powder a little to reduce the shine. It’s reef friendly, water resistant and cruelty free too.
@@CarelmartynI have rosacea and the two Korean sunscreens she mentioned in this video are both good for me. I'm liking the Beauty of Joseon spf better though. Feels SO nice on the skin and I feel like my redness is better. YMMV though. Rosacea is so different person to person.
You need to let this sunscreen settle for 10 mins. Very good didn't break me out when I forgot to wash my face.
I commented this on her short of the Skin 1004 tone up SPF video, but I absolutely *LOVE* this sunscreen. I have tried at least 4 of the SPF’s in this video and many many American, Korean, Japanese sunscreens and this one is by far my favorite. I don’t think I will be using a different once from here on out. Highly recommend.
good. I just ordered some.
How about the Skin1004 air-fit sunscreen Light SPF 30? have you tried it? It's not in the video sadly
I love when Doctor Dray says "buckle up!" 😂 I can't wait to watch this video and stock up for the summer!
I watched one of Dr. Drays videos around this time last year where she discussed the vast difference between the ingredients in american vs. the rest of the world’s sunscreens and how the chemical filters used in places like Europe and Asia provide better protection for your skin. I then read an article that echoed the same information. Now I bulk buy my sunscreen from Amazon UK and Stylevana. She’s right. The European and Asian brands are better.
I’m south East Asian, relatively fair (warm) tone and very dry skin. Have been using Biore UV water gel sunscreen for years, but it always make my skin oily by mid day, recently switched to Beauty of Joseon and I’m mind blown. It literally gives you moisture and work as a sunscreen, nothing else. Too bad I’ve already gotten tonnes of biore when I was in Japan earlier this year 😂 I should post a giveaway
Hi Dr. Dray! Love you content! I’ve really upped my skin care routine/protection with your videos. Have you thought of making a video for pregnant women🤰🏻? Heard they’re supposed to stay away from AHA/BHA, retinoids etc. What is safe and what is not.
Also, I think a video on efficacy of commonly used sunscreens using the sunscreen detecting cameras would be a treat for the viewers. This will also show how important it is to apply enough sunscreen and commonly missed spots. Thank you!
that skin aqua uv super moisture milk is great! as doc said, it's oil free. it doesn't have stearates and stearic acids; doesn't have any ferments; in short, it's safe for those of us who worry about "fungal acne" recurrence. it's also waterproof. now the only cons are that it's only 40ml and so liquidy you have to make sure it's going where it's supposed to; and it's not matte (though it's not too shiny either).
i'm southeast asian and maybe a fitzpatrick 4-5 and the whitecast is hardly noticeable. like maybe i'll notice it if i stare too long.
Thanks for reviewing the skin 1004 sunscreens. I have been using their skincare brand because they work for me but my sunscreen is from Foodaholic and I am unsure whether Skin 1004 sunscreen is better for me. I might give it a try. Thank you!❤
I got the Kroger sun screen. I love it. Thank you for recommending it. Wouldn’t have tried it otherwise.
Skin 1004 Tone brightening tone up sunscreen sounds too good to be true! it looks like it's supposed to leave a white cast, kind of like an Asian aesthetic. I've noticed the white tint of mineral sunblock works for me. Also, I feel like you read the comments. Wonder if I'll get hooked on this sunscreen, which i just ordered (we'll see). i was looking at old pictures of myself from 10 years ago when i was a runner, and i had more damaged looking skin than i do now...sunscreen is important!
The Isntree watery skin get is my absolute favorite!! Idk why I try anything else. It’s amazing
Is it water resistant ?
Happy Friday. Watching your videos and following your recommendation of a basic skin care routine has saved my skin. ❤
Glad to hear the tips have helped
The Beauty of Joseon one is my #1 and it changed my mind about sunscreen. I hated every U.S. one I’ve ever tried, and was prepared to die young rather than use it. It either burned or felt like a layer of lard on my face. But the Skin1004 is also great. I love them and I’m grateful because I actually like to wear them.
Same! US chemical ones irritate the heck out of me and the mineral ones make my face dry up and itch. I’ve just been wearing large hats and hiding in the shade until I met my love, Japanese sunscreens!
Same here! I’ve tried so many US sunscreens and hated them. Love these
😊😊
Is that great for combination skin?
Ditto. I gave all us chemical sunscreens the finger today. Neutrogena broke out my face and left my face feeling burning all night
Love the Skin Aqua, works very well with my oily skin. Happy Friday doc.
Wow alot of sunscreens here! Thanks for all the suggestions!
I love SUNCUT & not many ppl discuss it. It's Japanese, spf50++++, sheer, and light. I also love Skin Aqua
I’m at the beach this week. Between the Japanese 50 spfs and umbrellas zero sunburn. I’ve been using canmake on my face and Nivea in the body. Great combo. I hate feeling greasy and the nivea never feels that way.
Which Nivea one did you use? 👀
@@jonatikaWwe Super Water Gel 50
@@ralphandleosmom9075 thanks! 🙏
The Mediheal NML Water Drop sunscream was said to have SPF >80 and PPD >37 (tested by the brand themselves?), which is so high for a Korean sunscreen. The first 15 ingredients are exactly the same as the Beauty of Joseon one (same sunscreen filters) so I wonder what makes it have such a much higher sun protection compared to the BoJ one.
I've tried most of the sunscreens you mentioned, plus a lot more, but I ALWAYS find myself coming back to my beloved ''Canmake Mermaid''. It's so gentle on my sensitive skin, non drying to my also dry skin and works amazingly under makeup!!
This is most needed video.
My new favourite sunscreen is the Purito soft touch sunscreen :)
I have a dry mature fair skin with rosacea. My faves are the skin aqua, the Canmake (with a cream underneath). I've got the Beauty of Joseon that I need to try. I use them as everyday sunscreens all around the year and when I'm not spending a lot of time outside in summer. In the summer, I need to increase the protection level, I use the P20 suncare for kids. This one is a bit greasy, but it has a UVB around 100 and a UVA at 53. This is my hardcore sunscreen 😅 20:08
Thanks for showing the three pumps on the hand with the skin1004! I was not sure how to measure it with the pump as I usually do finger method.
Hi Dr. Dray, I know you’ve made a few videos about LED light therapy, but I was wondering if there is any risk for premature aging/ other unwanted effects with long term use? I was thinking about implementing it into my skincare routine (I’m 21) but am starting to worry that it will be damaging in the long run. Thank you!
Even though Stylevana takes forever to ship, I love their prices. I always purchase a couple months ahead
_HaruHaru Black Rice Pure Mineral Relief Daily Sunscreen_ is not a mineral sunscreen, it has _Butyloctyl Salicylate_ - which is the same molecule as _Octisalate_ filter, but with longer carbon chains and not officially registered as a sunscreen ingridient. LabMuffin did a video on it: "How "mineral" sunscreens are dodging laws"
Thank you so much for this video!
Happy Friday Dr Dray!! It's 31 degree celcius today in Winnipeg!!
I’m on my second tube of Skin Aqua UV Super Moisture spf 50 PA++++ , but I think it’s the “Essence”version and the tube is a little different. I really really like it. As a makeup wearer I find that it works very nicely under makeup. Great product.
I can’t find the gel version anymore did it get canceled
@@JulesSantana I’m not sure. I’ve only used this particular lotion version.
Same! I have used it for years I love it!
Thanks so much for the recommendations, Dr Dray! Happy Friday!! I hope you, your sweet momma and little Tybee have a blessed and fun weekend. 💟
Can you do a part 2 of Korean sunscreens, please.
1. Dr. Banggiwon- Cicamide Daily Essence Sun Cream
2. Nard- UV Shield Sun Cream
3. Borntree- Berry Essence Sun Block
4. Cell Fusion C- Laser Sunscreen 100, Aquatica Sunscreen 100
5. Eunyul Lab- Moisture Sun Cream
6. Rovectin- Moisture Sun Cream, Soothing Sun Cream
Please do a video on European/ Asia sunscreens that would be good for hard core beach going and riding horses
Thanks to you, I now familiar with the skin aqua. This one is affordable (at least for me) & works well just like you describe ❤
I love the Isntree hyaluronic acid watery sun gel is dries matte not sticky greasy or tacky. It’s perfect for my sensitive skin too!
Hi I wattched a review on NO BS Beauty where she tested the the Isntree HA watery Sun gel and said texture is “slightly sticky and you’ll want to use powder over.” Do you disagree? Would be great to get another perspective as I was considering this one, but I don’t want to have to deal with putting powder over it and I don’t want some thing that’s at all sticky, even after drying down. Thank you! 😊
So many great picks!!
Thank you for this. Very very informative and helped me to chose a new sunscreen.
Stylevana is very bad with their customer service. My parcel got lost in December and they have yet not reached out to me though I mailed them many times. Be aware if you are ordering from them.
I got the Kroger Shimmer sunscreen based on your videos. I love it for the value, the tint, and lightweight feel. Only issue is it burns my eyes, but I apply an asian sunscreen around them and I'm good to go! I also got the Skin 1004 hyalu cica sunscreen again because of you and I love it.
Thank you so much for these suggestions ! I got the mermaid skin sunscreen and I absolutely love it. I also bought the isntree one that I will try soon.
I have them both and love them both. I’m sure you will, too.😊
I gave the Canmake mermaid sunscreen a try but it burned my eyes so bad 😬 I'm sticking with Skin Aqua that really works the best for me on a daily basis, and La Roche Posay Anthelios for the days spent outdoors.
Skin Aqua is awesome!
Axis Y has version 3 of their mineral sunscreen, finally they removed fragrance and cast is minimal. It's worth trying
I tried this the finished is lovely, but the amount of time I have to spend trying to blend it into my skin is just too long
I just ordered sunscreen from them! Glad you enjoyed them as well
This came right on time! Thank you Dr😊
Hi Dr Dray. Do check out Anessa mineral sunscreen milk spf50 for sensitive skin. It's been my go to in Japan!
Please review the haruharu chemical sunscreen that released along with the one in this video
I have had a terrible experience with Stylevana. They are impossible to reach, they charged my credit card 6 weeks ago and still have not shipped my order :(
Dr. Dray, thank you for continuing to create such informative content.
I wanted to see if you can recommend a Korean sunscreen suitable for sensitive skin. In my understanding, Korean sunscreens don't clearly label if a sunscreen is mineral, and due to extreme sensitivity to chemical sunscreens, I don't want to try anything that would produce an adverse effect. I am currently using Drmtlgy spf 46 mineral sunscreen.
Thank you!
Amber
The haruharu one is great for sensitive skin
Wow get ready guy back your sunscreens try new feel experience and decide what glides best to your skin. Learning new sunscreens by doctor Andrea is a lux feeling and experience. Love the isntree hyaluronic acid watery sun gel ❤
Please please review the GOODAL HEARTLEAF SUNSCREEN!! Would really love to know what u think!
Haha! Waited for weeks for you to get your hands on haru haru. I think I managed to be one of the first to get it 😂. Was well excited.
I’ve learned not to stray from the Canmake Mermaid Skin Gel. Doesn’t burn my eyes and dries back not shiny on my oily skin. Great under makeup, too.
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just what I’ve been waiting for!
Be aware that id you order from Stylevana you are gonna wait for really long time to received your package 😂 just google them
my new fave sunscreen is Collistar magic Drops SPF50,it's amazing-non sticky, non irritating and sweat resistant
i'd love for u to review it
Not related to the topic of the video, but it would be great if you reviewed the skincare products at Aldi. They even have a water gel dupe.
HaruHaru dried my skin so bad. 20min after applying I could actually feel my skin pulling. Tried with a thicker moisturizer same thing.
No white cast on me(but I’m pretty pale), no smell, great packaging and formula really beautiful but alas.
For reference I have combo dry/normal, sensitive, mild rosacea skin and I can only tolerate mineral sunscreens.
hi dr dray! I love your recommendations so much! can you please please make a video on waterproof sunscreens! I really need good ones and i can’t find any :(
Skin Aqua UV super moisture milk is my jam. I have a deep skin tone and it does not leave a cast at all. It is perfect! Plus I have rosacea and sensitive skin. This is the best sunscreen hands down. And it does not burn the eye. Does it work well under makeup? Yes it does. Love it!
Thank you for this video!
This is the 2nd time I use the skin 1004 hyalu cica, and i think this is phenomenal sunscreen. Though its a little bit sting in my eyes but it fade away quickly. I ordered in stylevanna, and i got the order after 2 weeks. It is cheaper price than buying in amazon.
❤️ love your videos! You should try the new boj beauty of josean spf sun serum or the mixsooon spf
I was literally Looking at these brands last night. I ordered the Hyalu-Cica one. I hope it works for my skin. Thanks for this review.
I absolutely love the Korean made Karadium Snail Repair Sun cream SPF 50+ PA +++. It’s great for dry mature skin and claims to have anti-wrinkle properties. Has anyone used this one? I’d love to know what Dr. Dray thinks. Happy June everyone!
I love the Beauty of Joseon, and more recs to try! I recently bought a sunscreen you featured that didn’t make the cut in this video: Hada Labo UV White Gel. Nice texture and application.
Hi Dr Dray so excited to be here happy Friday I live for this ❤️
Greetings David Shabas hope u r well n Happy Friday😀👍💜….
Happy Friday
@@whitneybrown4067 happy Friday Whitney 👍
I placed an order from stylevana at the beginning of April and I didn’t receive it until TODAY. They never gave me tracking. Their customer service never responded. DONT USE THEM
True for me 😢
I have a darker (SE Asian) skintone, and the Rohto Skin Aqua UV Super Moisture Milk has been my HG sunscreen for a few years now. *Zero cast.* And there's never been titanium dioxide listed on the packaging. Something to note: The ing. list for this on stylevana has a disclaimer at the end saying that it includes ingredients from any possible iterations of this product, so perhaps some long-ago version had titanium dioxide? But the Japanese list on the packaging itself has never shown titanium dioxide.
Happy friday dr dray❣️ thanks for sheding some light on asian sunscreen🌞 just a quick question, is it safe to get permanent eyebrows???
Thanks for watching. Similar risks as other tattoos
Please do moisturisers as well. Please, review glow recipe!
I love the Beauty of Joeson products. I have aging, sensitive, pale skin with rosacea and melasma. This sunscreen is my HG. On it's own or under makeup its wonderful! Thanks for the discount code!
I LOVE the Skin Aqua... It's also water resistant
Me too.
Im trying to find if you have a video on rosacea. I don't know how to search within your site and you have so many. I trust you more than other derms on YT,❤
Definitely want to try some of these but wanted to ask if there is Asian tinted sunscreen you would recommend. I have super fair skin sensitive skin. I need something thats not going to make my eyes feel like they are on fire.
Happy Friday and long weekend , Dr. Dray ❤
Happy Friday
Skin 1004 is new to me. I just bought it and love it and it was 9 .❤❤
What Asian sunscreen would you recommend that is water/sweat resistant?
Hi Doctor
Which sunscreen is best oily acne pron skin?
Skin1004 madagascar centella hyalu-cica water-fit sun serum or instree hyaluronic acid watery sun gel ??
Face republic tinted sunscreen is amazing!! It’s a mineral sunscreen but doesn’t leave me any casts because it’s tinted with iron oxide. Please review that, been using it for weeks with setting powder, should try
The Skin aqua moisture milk is my favorite everyday spf, LOVE it.
Would you do a review on the chemical version of the HaruHaru sunscreen? It comes in a yellow bottle but same packaging style.
I love BOJ for my dry ‘wiser year’ skin😁 also use their retinal eye cream with no problems. Bit of a sunscreen junkie as someone else mentioned so have Biore and Skin Aqua which are also good. Didn’t like Dr G on my dry skin and Canmake was too shiny.
So sad to see so many youtubers working with Stylevana given the fact that there are hundreds of people waiting months and months on their orders. And Stylevana doesnt even ship worldwide 😔🥲
Some channels though will recommend other k-beauty retailers because they know Stylevana can be a problem especially if what you order isn't in stock at the time.
So true
Yesstyle is much better…..
Stylevanna in the UK are absolutely horrendous, the only way I ended up getting my order months later was with the help of PayPal, never again! Yes Style are so much better, still takes 4 weeks or so but at least they keep you up to speed.
Agreed, really disappointing.
I like the isntree texture and finish, but it’s got an overwhelming sunscreen smell to it that I can’t tolerate on a daily basis. The canmake and the BOJ both don’t have that and I love them both.
Which spf out of these you recommend the most to avoid burning around the eyes
Scinic super mild sun essence is my absolute favorite I have the madagascar centella, but it is SO watery I question the level of protection. Beauty of Joseon is good, too, but Scinic is the best hands down.
Hi Dr. Dray! I have combo skin/sensitive skin. I'm new to sunscreens but I find that the Cerave mineral tinted sunscreen only seems to sit on my face and look flaky. Are there any sunscreens, tinted or not, that can just look smoother on my skin? Thank you in advance.
omg yay ive been waiting for this video
I love your channel!
the skin aqua one is almost my holy grail. I use the one produced in Indonesia for Indonesian market, so maybe it's slightly different to the Japanese one. because my only grip with it is that it feels like it doesn't set on my face. like even after a few hours, i can still feel it if i touch my face, like it doesn't just "disappear". and sadly, since last year i think, it kinda stings my eyes. it used to be very safe for my eyes. i think it's bc i can't tolerate chemical filters even more nowadays. but it's really cheap here, about 3 USD i think.
ada rekomendasi ss kak?
@@heilauu7348 skin aqua spf 50 (the blue one), azarine tone up (whitecast di awal), azarine yg lain jg oke, tp kynya agak pilling, the aubree daily sunscreen (agak perih di mata sy)
Thanks Dr. Dray for this video. I started using Isntree - Hyaluronic Acid Watery Sun Gel SPF50+ PA and love, love it. It is the best sunblock I have ever used.
Finally i found the reason why hyalucica ss from 1004 is the most fav from that brand. But i still pick skinaqua moist ss as simple as its not causing any trouble like some sunscreen ive ever tried, its also cheap.
The watery sun gel has a scent to me. It’s not perfumish, but smells like 70’s summer time for sure
I’ve been using skinaqua gel and I LOVE it. It makes me look pretty shiny but I’m shiny all the time regardless. Works great on my facial hair and doesn’t burn my rosacea or undereyes
Does it leak at all?
It doesn't leak from the bottle. It's tiny and super practical to carry around
The Isntree sunscreen burns my eyes so bad! I physically feel tired and sick because my eyes sting and feel heavy the whole day
I was sent a sample of the Iunik Centella sunscreen and the free sample worked, I bought it. Nobody talks about it though, which I find weird. Everyone goes on and on about the Joseon one, so I bought both. The Joseon one is great, but for me, the Iunik one is even better.
What are your thoughts on Mele Sunscreen Oil or sunscreen oils in general? It's an spf30 and it's the only product I use for skincare that doesn't irritate like moisturizers and lotions. Appreciate your feedback!
It would be interesting to hear her opinion. At least one derm, Dr. Claudia on the picky channel, said in the case of the supergoop one, it didn't provide the coverage a regular cream sunscreen does.
The kose waterproof sunscreen is a game changer! It feels amazing when applying and leaves no cast and doesn’t burn around my eyes, even when I sweat! It’s amazing!!
Oily proof ?
Good I just ordered it to try! Needed more waterproof ones for the summer
Skin1004 hyalu-cica is the ONLY sunscreen that does not sting my eyes. Love how light it is and suitable for my oily skin. It sinks in immediately and does not leave shiny/greasy finish. I have found my HG in this product.
Did you try beauty of Jauson?
Is it water resistance ?
@@aunparalleled I have not tried that one. But I heard it is similar to hyalu-cica but a bit more moisturizing. I did not test anything else, after I found one that works for me and my sensitive eyes :) I am not experimental with my suscreens, just wanted something that I could actually wear :D I was literally crying with all other SPF-s. They all stung so bad. It was difficult.
I tried the Isntree and loved it, but I wound up with a horrible rash on my neck.
Thank you for your wonderful video! I was wondering if you could do a video specifically speaking about sunscreens that have 'labeled' blue light protection ex: new Bioderma M, Drmtlgy SPF 44, and maybe any others that you can recommend for those of us who have to have extra HEVL (blue light) protection. There are so many great sunscreens for people who don't have to worry about blue light but I don't think there are as many for those of us that do. And the ones that are tinted are usually not the right tint colour (ex: light olive skin). Usually too orange, to dark, too peachy (as stated above). I tried the Avene Intense Protect 50+ & just cannot seem to not get a streaky, yellow finish, every time I reapply.
She and the budget dermatologist have done videos on this along with product recommendations.
