He was also destined to become Anakin again and bring balance to the force which he did when he killed the emperor and sacrificed himself. Sure there are plot holes here and there through all seven films, but his story is pretty solid. Still better than the Hobbit making us sit through three prequels for eagles to save the day again amiright? lol
I remember Jesse, JP, Adam Koebel, and inControl talking about this on the old Fandom episode they did for Force Awakens. If I remember correctly, the consensus is that Maul is cool, and his lightsaber fight is wonderfully choreographed, but he has almost no lines or screentime in the movie and, outside of the fight, is a boring one dimensional sub-antagonist.(Not counting Robo-legs Maul in this) The fight being at the very end tricks the viewer into forgetting about the rest of the glaring problems the movie had.
I personally don't like all the irrational hate and humiliation people throw at George Lucas.

First of all, Star Wars absolutely is NOT better off without George Lucas. George Lucas is a genius. The prequels were flawed because he isn't the best at every single thing, but storytelling and world building are what he's great at. All the flaws of the prequels could have been worked out with more collaborations like the OT. That being said, besides Midichlorians, some of the dialogue and stuff like that, the prequels were actually good. Genuinely star wars unlike the sequel trilogy.
I never understood the dislike for Midichlorians. I know to some it ruins the "magic"/mystery of the force, but the point was to make the explaination make more sense scientifically. Star Wars establishes that the Force is not Magic, in this universe magic is something completely different. Lastly as explained in the movie its only microscopic organisms in your blood, they help the weilder interact and be knowledgeable of the force being told the will of the force. Thinking of Gravity, it use to be a non existant thing that surrounds us, but if not for science we would have no knowledge about it. To me thats what makes it make sense, and what they were going for, which I think they nailed in its explaination.
Honestly I think any explaination for the mysteries of Star Wars will never please Star Wars fans.
Current examples:
-Fans disliked how C3PO and R2D2 met for the first time.
-That R2D2 had more abilities and able to fly in the Prequels, when it can be easily explained with a thought process instead of having to be spelled out, easy explaination being he was a younger droid 20 years ago, so duh he may have more abilities that, duh break or are no longer able to function 20 years later. (The fan base really got me on this complaint, just another Prequel hating session for no real good reason).
-A similar complaint is that Anakins lightsaber in Episode 3 is slightly different than Lukes in Episode 4. Star Wars fans really complain about the minor stuff I suppose seeing as the Prequels have been nit picked for decades at a time. This has a similar why does it need to be spelled out explaination seeing as the Saber was 20 years old so Obi Wan was doing some upkeep on it to make sure it still works.
-Disliked further exploring the relms of the Force scientifically.
-Boba Fetts lineage.
-Other examples I'm forgetting.
On another note fans have been wanting to know Yodas background, what his Race is called and what planet his race comes from, guaranteed what ever explaination is given is just going to anger the already easily angered fan base, like explaining how Han Solo got his last name in a very pun related way... Ugh.. lol.
bigdoubleu117 plus the midichlorians aren't the Force, they just allow communication with the Force. Also yeah too much nitpicking. It's the 2nd largest media franchise in the world, you can't please everyone. But, a lot of the prequel hate was just unnecessary nitpicking, especially in retrospect
Jeroogalo In addition, I know the acting can be bad, but it can be in the OT also, but most people who have nitpicked the Prequels so much almost attack people who dare point out the flaws, bad dialogue, bad acting in the OT. Its unfortunate.
I do feel that as the films got older people are warming up to them and more numbers in liking the Prequels. Plus I never thought that Samual Jackson was a bad actor in it, all of the Jedi were designed to be Monkish, serious, and so on. If you rewatch Episode 3, one of the best next to Episode 5 in my opinion, but Jacksons stone cold stares at Anakin when he does something wrong was always chilling, like giving you a death stare. I saw the acting as intense.
Lastly I hate all the nitpicks of how Anakins turn was too quick, my rebuttal to this is, I know people who have that issue don't like to watch the Prequels, but did they actually see them.
-Anakin was a Slave. (Most seem to forget about that)
-Taken from his mother when he was 9.
-Trained to have no passion.
-Pressured for 10 years that he is the chosen one, he must have a 5.0 grade point average type thing. (We have real life proof that this kind of pressure does not go well in most cases for parents pressuring their kids to be perfect).
-Then gets yelled at in front of others when he does something wrong.
-Mother dies in front of him after being totured.
-And lastly the Jedi code he was forced to live by was constantly in question in Episode 3, with the Jedi giving him missions and doing actions that Anakin himself says is against the Jedi code.
With all that added together with only the information from the 3 films, 100% makes sense why he couldn't resist the dark side, oh yea not to mention its his wife and children in risk of dying.
His turn made sense to me, his life was much more difficult compared to Lukes that his life only got complicated at age 19 where Anakins life was difficult starting at when he and his mother were sold into slavery when he was 3.

Rebels, Rogue One, Mandalorian, Clone Wars 7, shut up.
Jason Quinn Jr rebels were average, the only good moments being with the characters we already established. Rogue one was a lazy cash grab with an uninteresting story, and the only good scene was vader slaughtering rebels. Mandalorian was decent. Clone wars s7 was made by the same guys who made the other seasons, wich were amazing even before disney bought star wars, so they dont get any credit here. The disney movies suck.

Why do lots of people hate George Lucas & The S.W. Prequels
I love the prequels I don't like the Disney S.W. films except Rogue One, S.W. Rebels was okay & I kind of like George he seems like a great guy & a wise director sure he made a couple of mistakes with Strange Magic but I don't hate Lucas.
I'm a S.W. Fan who loves
The Original Trilogy, The Prequel Trilogy, The 2003 Clone Wars show, The CG Clone Wars show, Rouge One, The Lego Cartoons like Padawan Menace, & Empire Strikes & S.W. Legends Out so I never understood why everyone hates Lucas & the Prequels & some times RTOTJ I love all 3 of those things plus I never minded Jar Jar.

As I said he literally has taken credit for accomplishments that weren't even his. George Lucas had this attitude that since he owned lucas films that anything it produced was his own accomplishments and when he actually did do everything by himself the prequels is what we got.

I... liked the prequels. As a teenager at the time, it made me realise politics and current affairs aren't just 'boring old-people stuff', but that I should keep myself informed and not take my right to vote for granted. Also, as someone who came from a LOTR fandom where we revere Tolkien as the God he is, I was pretty shocked to see all the hate towards Lucas.
Hell I like the Prequels...thanks in part to the Clone Wars cartoon series, which thanks to that filling in most of the gaps has made the movies more enjoyable....while the sequels only continue to get worse each week.
The overall plot of the prequels was pretty solid. Excellent mastermind-ing by Palps and the politics were legit. But they were just presented so badly. The dialogue was probably the real killer, but the special effects were a bit overdone. I don't know how an evil genius masterminding both sides of a war as part of a decades-long plan to destroy his jedi rivals and get himself elected as galactic emperor (and get people to like it!) was made boring... but somehow they made that boring.
I loved the prequels before it was cool
You do get Lucas purists in the star wars fandom but unlike with the Tolkien fans the Lucas purists completely ignore the contributions made by others towards star wars (except the guy who did clone wars and rebels but they completely forget that a lot of what made the original trilogy great didn't come from Lucas or was because he was restricted by the technology at the time so had to work around those restrictions making a more grounded scene that works better than what he originally intended). Also unfortunately for the few that aren't a lot of the Lucas purists are the same group of people who are super toxic (like get annoyed about rey and that a woman had purple hair and somehow completely misunderstood TLJ because they either don't understand how stories work or went in wanting to hate it) and hate literally everything post Disney. They are also contradictory normally old expanded universe purists.
As for the prequels, I love what Lucas was trying to say but he completely failed in the execution and really needed someone else working with him to pull him back and focus on the right things (not advertising his special effects company, which is what the films feel like sometimes) and also help him with names and dialogue and story structure (episode 2 should have episode 1, everything has to be reestablished in the second film and it means that everything important to the plot is rushed, we get a beginning and an end with none of the development).
Prequels were awesome, but the sequels. They deserve to be spit on.

He is an legend, he inspired me to start my my channel, to write pages of only NAMES. Hundreds of characters! My biggest dream is to just get a glimp of George Lucas since i was 7! He inspired me to become screen writer, everything i do is inspired by him. He is my biggest idol. And i am thankfull for what he has done in his live for us.

Honestly, the only thing I disliked about Episode 1 through 3 was Jar-Jar Binks and some of Anakin's lines. But besides that, they were okay.

I don't like Jar-Jar because I find him just as annoying all the other characters do. I get that he's supposed to be a comic relief character, but I don't find him funny. And if a comic relief character isn't funny, that defeats the entire point of them. Then all you're left with is an annoying character.

I really hate people who hate george lucas. I mean, if it wasn't for him there wouldn't even be such thing as star wars, a movie that everybody adores, he might have ruined it with the prequels, but not with the originals. Episode 4 and 6 were amazing and it was mainly made by Lucas, I've seen documentaries of how they did it and george just did everything to make them perfect, and they were. Try to praise for what he has created and not hating him just for the prequels.
You do know that it was a collective effort. If there were no people controlling his actions back then, then things would not be the same way, like, the character's conceptual faces, etc. There was a time when he had a complete control of the series, when everyone was afraid of correcting him because "he's George Lucas", and that's the prequels.

Fernando Sosa he is responsible for the idea but not getting and keeping the ball rolling. If George had the same control he had on the prequels with the original Star Wars. That movie would have been a horrible mess and be another B grade sci-fi movie that will only be remembered by die hard film historians and sci-fi film enthusiasts. That movie was saved by the editors including Georges wife at the time. Empire was directed and written by different people and I believe George was just a producer and it's no surprise that it's considered the best in the franchise. Just because he's responsible for that spark doesn't put him on a pedistal. He is just a man. A man with good ideas and flops them when he doesn't have a collaborative team of talented people

Actually, he made 1 decent movie, two awful ones, and collaborated in making the best movie trilogy of all history, and even then he only directed one of those and his ideas for the last one (Ewoks) are usually hated by the fans.

So many people forgive the prequels because its been the general consensus for so long... Its been memes and criticise to hell and now people pretend it was the last masterpiece before disney took over.
But honestly... Lets just accept that the prequels were and and always will be a let down in terms of quality
Absolutely the amount of apologists popping up feels like gaslighting, but it’s honestly just kids who grew up with those movies and had their parents mythologize the OGs so they identified with the prequels and any attack against them is a personal attack. But I’m starting to go too long and probably look like some prequel hater but honestly I love every movie flaws and all; even Rise of Sky and Phantom are both equally fun and entertaining.

@@Jason-El rebels quality is debatable at best, rouge one was only good at the end, mandolorian was great, and clone wars season seven was great, but Disney basically had gold handed to them with that. The they made the last Jedi and rise of skywalker so you know Disney still suck at Star Wars. Like they ruin character people loved and when fans complained they were called sexist and white supremacist and they invalidated Vader’s sacrifice and basically tilted everything in reys favor.

It is absolutely undeniable how low Star Wars has sunk without George.
The reason Rogue One and the Mandalorian work is because guys like Gareth Edwards, Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau are disciples of Lucas and make a conscious efforts to make Star Wars that they think George would want to see.
They're the ones keeping George's Star Wars alive, despite Disney's best efforts to kill it with the sequel trilogy.

While I agree the plot is awesome most everything in the prequels is franky awful
The prequels brought new technologies, planets, characters, stories. The era is simply amazing. The Disney sequels on the other hand didn’t bring nothing new, the same technologies as the OT, the same story and plot as the OT, the same Darth Vader but a substantial downgrade, the same planets with different names, the same rebels, the same death star which could be considered technical, the same story troopers, the same tie fighters, the same x wings (which are all the same technologies)... and on top of that we get politics such as identity politics shoved down our throats, Rey no backstory, no training, gets everything handed to her, no flaws. The main villain is a child in a mask, and the first order isn’t intimidating. Also we get no backstory to the first order and how they rose to power.

The cgi for the time was great (especially from episode 2 which is still alright today and from episode 3 which many still see as good nearly 15 years after release), the choreography was astounding with fast and fluid lightsaber battles (whoch actually felt like jedi _masters_ fighting), the acting was also on point (acting is not just dialogue but also showing emotion, choreography and very important: emotions)

No, George Lucas was a better writer than the people who took over,
the thing is George Lucas is out of touch with the current demographic and I don't mean feminists,
old Star Wars was too hopeful and high and mighty, if he had rewritten canon himself after episode 6 and
toned it down to what episodes 1-3 were like for the end of the saga, then he would have dominated the industry once again.
IE: One thing the new canon got right was Kylo Ren and his relationship with his family and Luke as well as Luke's own character too.
Anakin was a good boi, but he grew into a padawan killer (i hate children scene + not the younglings), Luke was Anakin's son and Kylo his grandson, so the whole part were Luke tries to kill Kylo, where he feels dissatisfied with the Jedi order like his father was, when Kylo does the same exact things, when Kylo gets frustrated that Rei escaped and trashes a console (a step down from murdering or choking people to death might i add). It's these little things that made it apparent that the people who wrote it knew at least something about Star Wars.
Even if in my opinion the new Disney canon is mostly trash. I'm just saying some parts were great, while the other 99% was horrible.

The last two episodes of the sequel trilogy were a total failure, indeed, because Disney allowed the WRONG writing team to make the story.
Don't blame J.J Abrams, guys. He did try to make the sequel trilogy impactful, but the director of 'The Last Jedi' and his writing team completely destroyed everything.
Mr. Abrams, you should have directed Episode 8 so that there would have never been huge complications for Episode 9.
Not to mention that Star Wars hotel that everyone down voted.

Instead of moving the story forward with seeing a new jedi order, the New Republic operate, and a brand new threat that wasn't the empire, abrams backtracked the galaxy to the way it was on ep. 4 which rendered everything our heroes did in the ot pointless.

The sequels aren't agenda driven, they're trying to make a disney princess (Rey) in their films and romanticize them with Kylo, like Pirates of the Carribbean did with Will and Elizabeth. The problem is, everyone sees it as "oh, representation bait" instead of "oh, its disney just doing rinse and repeat because its the only story their writers know"
