At the end of the day that's the most important thing. There is so much negativity associated with teaching and going back to school nowadays that it's a breath of fresh air to see all of this in a positive light. It’s weird because I am a teacher but I’m extremely shy and antisocial so I would dread doing the walk. I’m fine when I’m talking to students, but talking to other adults makes my stomach churn 😂

So you just gave me an idea that's gonna spin in my head for a while...those key chains! I love flamingos and have quite a few scattered around the room. A cool "part of the flock" keychain sounds like something I need to get working on! We just wrapped up our first week. It went well which I hope sets the tone for the rest of the year. You teaching Eureka is a GOD SEND! My district also uses it and I’ve been looking for someone who has a template that I can use to make slides on. I teach Eureka for Kindergarten. Eureka is ALOT! But I see the benefits from it. My son is starting 4th grade so he’s in your wheel house. It’s going to be nice to see it from your POV.

How did supply organization go? I feel like it would be very chaotic and parents would be mad. But MAN would I love to have parents help with that rather than wasting so much time the first day!!
i was telling my sister in law about what u said about home visits she couldnt imagine doing that but than where we live our school covers a large area so it be kinda crazy to try to visit all the kids at home
for instance my nieces get on the school bus at 630 in the morning and dont get home til 430 their bus ride is 45 minutes because the distance to the school
Love your channel! I was given advice on “sleeping” when your brain is going 100 miles per hour. Write your ideas down on a sticky note (while trying to sleep) and stick them to your headboard.
The room is very nicely set up. I love the pops of color you've used. Two questions: 1. Does it seem strange to you to sit and listen to another person do P.D. when YOU used to be the traveling P.D. presenter? 2. Does the school system provide the student's Chromebooks? Oh, one more thing, save your voice when you're doing these videos and just let US do the reading. We can pause and read the forms, slides, etc. You don't need to read it aloud, you'll be doing enough talking very soon. :-) I'm so happy you went back into teaching; you were BORN to impact kids! I love key chain idea! I am actually doing a friendship bracelet key chain. Using the idea of Taylor Swift. I teach middle school. I thought students could really use a keychain.
I really struggle with sleep when stressed. You may already do this but I do recommend melatonin! I put off trying it for so long. It really helps me get to sleep and I seem to stay asleep better. Maybe give it a try if you haven't!
I actually have a sticky note in my planner on the month of August that I move from one year to the next. It says the following: Note to self - The beginning of the year is always hectic and crazy. Things will settle down. 😊

Do you use Eureka squared? I've used both the eurekas. Eureka Squared comes with the slideshows on great minds. I am struggling with sleep too, but I'm remembering that the first days of school are automatically stressful.
Sorry, I don’t like the idea of welcome walk, especially bc it is being done in the evening. What if teachers have kids themselves? They would need a babysitter to do this, which isn’t right. While it’s nice to want to meet students in person, I think going to their house is too much. Anything that makes teachers work evenings is moving into their personal time/life. I hope you’re getting paid for the time…
@@Laurasaputo13 Exactly! I understand interviews have to be in the evening. Where I am, we get the Friday off after doing evening interviews. For some reason though Meet the Teacher/Curriculum Night, is not compensated in the same way, yet of course you are expected to be there for the evening. Any sort of Christmas or spring concert is the same thing. We have to be there to lead and supervise our class for the evening but no compensation. We are basically being asked to do extra hours of work for free….😡. I have small children and then have to make arrangements for their care when these things happen. I’ve never refused to go, but technically you could bc you are not getting paid to be there. At other school boards (like where my kids go) they have concerts during the day. I asked a fellow teacher who works there and she said there is no way their teachers would ever do an evening concert outside of school hours.
Your room looks amazing as always! How long since you’ve taught last? I’m curious if you think the children have changed since the pandemic 😬😬 because they definitely have where I live! Not necessarily for the better 😞

i still think that southern school is going to be a different beast than maryland you are going to find for the most part students are raised differently and parents put up with less
