    I was doubting this but that roll test blew my mind. That’s some impressive precision you have in those hands.

    I rear ended someone and ended up with bent forks. A shop straightened them simply by clamping and hanging weights on the ends over a few days. Did not dismantle as far as I remember, Probably would not have passed the roll test but worked fine afterwards.

    Fantastic video and you make it look so easy. Where did you find the aluminum press blocks? I have access to a press but the press blocks (especially the circular one you used on the press) are hard to find. Did you have these custom made at a machine shop?

    is this safe? like can the metal break in another accident

    • @outlaw86custom
      @outlaw86custom  Год назад

      Well yeah if you continue to have accidents and you keep bending the metal you change the molecules structure of it yeah it will break. This is only a demonstration to show that you could straighten small deviations in your forks tubes. If you feel like the forks are unsafe buy new. Thanks for watching

    I am from New Zealand and I am currently rebuilding a crashed 2023 Yamaha R7.
    My RH fork is bent ever so slightly and I really am not looking to fork up $800 USD for new parts (pun intended). I was wondering if I could possibly pay you to help me fix this fork. If so, how much would it cost? Please send me your email if this is something that you are willing to help me with. Thank you.

      I would look for someone closer to home to do the work. Shipping cost would very expensive, plus I'm not taking on any more work. But thanks for asking and thanks for watching.

    Is straightening these tubes safe? Isn't the metal compromised after multiple bends? I'm asking for peace of mind if I was to do this.

    • @outlaw86custom
      @outlaw86custom  2 года назад +1

      Depends on how hard of a bend the forks had. But yes the molecules have been charged in the fork metal. New fork tubes are fairly cheap but some people just want to straighten their own. Thanks for watching.

      I'm surprised you didn't protect parts of fork tube in v blocks with leather or rubber to prevent marring chrome on fork tube.

    • @outlaw86custom
      @outlaw86custom  2 года назад

      @@johnbell6114 I did protect the forks those were non-marring aluminum blocks if you look closely ,using leather or rubber tends to give too much.

  • @user-tf1oo9rj6u
    @user-tf1oo9rj6u 10 месяцев назад +1

    His roll test didn't look as good as you would want. If you've ever mounted a front wheel wrong and caused a tiny (not perceptible) bind, you will know how bad being a little off can cause the suspension to act harsh and behave weird and unpredictable (acts like too much rebound damping, then suddenly no rebound damping).
    I'm not saying his method can't be done. I'm saying it needs to be done a bit better to avoid bad results. You really need to test this on a piece of glass and have it roll smooth.
    For all the time to do that, you are probably better to look for some used forks on ebay, rather than trying to straighten your own.

    • @outlaw86custom
      @outlaw86custom  10 месяцев назад +1

      If your forks are bent buy new tube you don't have to straighten them like I do you can get into the variables and everything else most of the stuff I'm doing is for dirt bikes off-road not your choppers or your cool bikes. But thanks for watching
