    • @aqema
      @aqema 10 месяцев назад +3

      I bet it will be electric car level expensive, hardly available outside the UK, range will be like 60 miles, charging speed laughable from the “laptop style” connection, you will have to ride with your backpack and helmets won’t be sold by the company.

    • @chrisspain
      @chrisspain 10 месяцев назад

      @@aqema So it will be a thru and thru British product and everyone will be wondering, why it is not selling. Well, if they at least have a 40-50% margin, they might make same money with fewer sold units.
      Btw, it will be more like 60km then 60mi range. Both batteries together only have 1,5kWh. To get to 60mph and hold it, you need about 6kWh on the flat.

      A battery that size (6kg) gives you about 1,5kWh. so 2 are 3kWh. if they are high tech batteries 4kWh at 1000pound a piece. that would give you a range at 60mph of around 18mi. under 10mi with one battery, a bit more at slower speed.
      No mention of regen. For the 5500 pounds of estimated price (with one battery) not enough.

  • @paulnewman2000
    @paulnewman2000 10 месяцев назад +1

    Compared to a Silence SO1 / SEAT Mo the equal factors are : price is roughly the same. Top speed is about the same. Has same three driving modes. pros are; looks cool, ABS, charging speed, charges much faster. The cons are: battery capacity 2.8 kWh in total, only half of SO1's 5.6 kWh, storage nil, including so far as I can see, for the second battery, compared to the Silence's generous seat bucket where you can fit 2 full face helmets, much less weather protection. Essentially, you are paying 3.5 - 4K just so you don't look like a boring scooter, and also foregoing a lot of the utility that comes with a scooter. The main reason that electric bikes are so much more expensive is the cost of the battery packs. If you're not even getting that, its not good value.

    • @chrisspain
      @chrisspain 10 месяцев назад +2

      not quite. Batterie is 1,5kWh for two (790Wh one) The silence has the same top speed, yes, but, as you say, 5,6kWh. Not only that, that battery got even a 230V converter build in. And I have no problem with regen and normal speed here in Barcelona to get 100mi range and more. And it costs half! Well, nearly. And where do you put a top case? Or your helmet? On the Silence you can bring a passenger, very comfortable, that's 2 helmets. And your shopping. And your leather jacket. No problem with the Silence. Here?
      It´s a joke.

      @@chrisspain Yes, you are right, I mis-read the i300 spec. So the i300 is even worse than I thought, in the real world you would struggle to achieve 30 miles of range. On the other hand, I now see that both i300 batteries fit under the floor. I used to have a Lexmoto Impulse, which had a single battery capacity of 1.44 kWh, very similar capacity to the i300, and I needed 2 batteries to manage a commute from the suburbs into London. In cold weather, that would go from 100 - 16% capacity in 16 miles, with a top speed limited to 43 mph. The SEAT Mo has been a fantastic upgrade, being able to do 50 - 60mile journeys on one charge. Purchase price for the Mo was £6000 with all the extras, about the same as a mid range i300. SEAT dealers are now marking down last years Mo stock to as low as £4000, e.g. ex demo 22 plate manufactured in 2021 still with less than 100 miles on the clock, like you say about half of the cost of a top range i300. But would just point out that while the Silence battery includes an internal charger and heater, the inverter (to get 230 vac back out) is not built in - you have to buy it as an optional extra.

    Its ugly, its electric, you will definitely not hear it coming, its boring, no storage, charging time is probably 2-3hrs no one asked for this, no storage, sits way too low, people just get on combustion engines, its the only thing that really and truly works

    Expensive virtue signalling waste of money and it's not "sustainable" because electricity has to be produced from the conventional grid and all large batteries have issues with hazardous materials and disposal. Furthermore it has ZERO luggage space unlike petrol scooters which can be incredibly frugal (up to 150 MPG) and which can be purchased for a fraction of this machine. EV makers just don't get it. Until they can get the price down to reasonable levels no-one except fools are going to buy them.
