I have this hearing aid. just got the new p90. question: does the black part of the hearing aid suppose to sit outside the ear canal or is it suppose to be inside the ear canal?
Excellent video. Thanks for taking the time! One question: My Starkey Picasso IIC doesn't have all those tools or replaceable tips. Should I get some? -Migs
Do you recommend a signia silk nx3? My hearing loss is more towards high frequency sounds (women and children) I am first time hearing aid wearer and just not sure if my ears are supposed to feel clogged when they are in. Thanks! Big fan!
Hi dr, I’m looking for an invisible in the ear canal hearing aid. I ordered eargo hearing aids but I had to return them because they weren’t for my type of hearing loss (severe high frequency hearing loss). Do you have any suggestions?
You may not be able to use an invisible device. High frequencies will have to be limited to prevent feedback, thus reducing your benefit. A small Receiver in Canal device would be more effective.
I watch your videos all the time now as I just got my first set of hearing aids. Recently I had to take one my new Phonak Titanium hearing aids back as it was making a crunching sound. I had been using alcohol wipes on it just as you and my audiologist had showed me. I later read that alcohol was not supposed to be used as it can damage the plastic or the coating on the mic. I was using 70% wipes which I also read was not high enough percentage to cause issues. What is the real scoop on using alcohol wipes? Thank you!
Thank you for the quick response. That is what I had thought and had been doing. I was just afraid I had done something to mess one of mine up. I am still waiting to get it back from Phonak and am interested in what happened with it since it was just two months old. BTW, my audiologist follows best practices; I guess I got lucky because with my insurance I didn't have much of a choice. Keep up the great work.
You are giving patients the wrong information. The hearing aid should be turned upside down so any dirt, wax, grime does not get pushed into the hearing aid. Also, the best brush to use is a soft-bristle toothbrush, it is easier for older patients to hand than the little tiny brush that comes with hearing aids. The bottom of the hearing aid should be brushed off as well before placing a new wax guard on it.

Your hearing care professional should set you up with some.

❤️ The alcohol wipes is for the Titanium, not the faceplate or microphone inside of the hearing aid. Just use a brush on the faceplate. 👍
