It's weird, but I can imagine him performing it live, and saying that he was in a dark place when writing it, and he had dedicated it to his late ex-girlfriend (by late, I mean that she had died in a car crash), and holding back tears rather bravely. Okay. You were expecting me to say he'd break down in tears while performing it, but he'd still hold back tears. Same goes for Billie Eilish performing "when the party's over" live, but it's the other way around. I really feel sorry for them, and I just wanna give them a hug rn 😿

The utterly beautiful sorrow that is City Lights is definitely my favorite sad song. To me, the beginning shows how Chris might have been shocked after his ex girlfriend died, trying to hide his pain from others, hence the quiet singing in the beginning, I feel like the soft tone represents him trying to hide that sadness. After he starts singing louder (not the screaming part), I feel like it can show how he has a building grief and sorrow that gets more intense over time. When he screams, "We are all alone," that's when the emotional climax hits. I can feel the amount of anger, sorrow, sadness, and guilt in his voice. Every syllable is just packed with emotion. That's how beautiful this song is, but in its own depressing way at the same time. Makes me want to weep every time. 10/10 song if you're looking for a sad one.

I remember when I was listening to this song while there was a thunder storm, once Chris sang "we are all alone" and the song got loud, there was thunder. Perfect timing. It gave me chills. gah. :3

This is me and my ex's song. At first, I didn't even like Motionless In White. I thought they were weird. But, when he left me, this is all I had left. I watched some interviews, seen them play live, bought their CDs, and listened to their music much more. I learned quickly, they weren't weird. They were unique, and they stood up for peoples and their own rights. After a while, my ex didn't come to my mind. And this band, is now my addict. Love forever.

This song has a sublime message hidden in it.
On the beach, waves come and go.. laying down on the sand looking up into the darkened sky watching shooting stars go by. It all takes me back to my high school years. Makes me think of her. I feel sorry for myself because she gave me the chance to conquer her heart but I was just a teenager.. I didn't get the message and I didn't have have the guts to talk to her. Now, 12 years later, I know we could've been the happiest couple on this Earth but unfortunately, it's way too late. She got married to a handsome guy.

I cried when Chris came out and sang this Tuesday, not going to lie. It was only him on stage until the song hit 1:45. Absolutely amazing. The whole crowd was singing along and it was a truly memorable moment.

As a fan of both groups and someone who listens to everything from Matt Corby to One Direction to Motionless In White can we just stop the hate. Being in a boy band does not make you gay(They all planed on being solo artist) and you may not like their music but don't say they have no talent, because they can sing.

And you're right, they did partially get to where they are because of their looks. Shows like X-Factor don't care about talent and helping someone reach their dreams all they care about is how much money they're going to get.
