My sympathies!!! I have just finished going through four boxes of halves this week:
No silver
No proofs
1 clad upgrade for my album.
6 NIFCs
That was it. A lot of work for practically nothing.

I commented yesterday that I had 8 boxes of halves, every ender was 2022 brand new. I opened 6 rolls and realized the rolls were not solid 22s.....avr 6-8 older clads. So, I opened every roll and found several NIFCs from mostly 2017....and to my surprise, I ended up with 4 40% very nice coins and I actually got a 1964 ! So, when you get these new rolls, open them! Love your videos!

I actually did that to one of my 2021P Boxes... Well I didn't open every roll, but I randomly picket 10-15 and they were ALL 2021Ps.

I think I have posted 95% or more of my hunts this year. I have been really fortunate with my boxes and customer rolls. This is probably my first TRUE SKUNK in months and months. But I have to and want to shows videos like this to let people know it's ok if you are striking out time and time again. It happens to us all.

Yes. I feel it's a treasure hunt, where you only have access to what the teller is willing to give you (or what he ends up choosing to give you), or which boxes are shipped for your specific order... A dream for all of us would be to gain free access to the bank's vault for a period of time long enough, so you could choose the rolls you want. I would bring my scale, and pick up the heaviest rolls. I could instantly edge-hunt the clear plastic rolls. I'd end up making a box with all the rolls I choose, and tell the teller, "I'm ready now to trade these coins for my paper money.". That's the dream, but the closest I can be is to explain to the teller which rolls are the best to take, so that increases the odds of finding good coins...

Still, you are lucky in USA to have half dollars that often produce silver. In Canada, we can only have 10 and 25 cents that potentially may have silver, and it's as you say, sometimes there's not even a dime in the equivalent of 2 to 3 boxes, but sometimes, it's so good for the mind to pull a single silver coin. My last find was a 1965 quarter which is 80% silver, and it was the inner-ender of a customer wrapped rolls, next to a couple of Americans (Clad) as 2nd and 3rd coins. The rest of these coins in the same wrappers (about 1 full box) were kind of boring, noting to keep. And this roll was the *last* roll. In this hobby, we must never lose hope!

You are 100% right... was just trying to get a note out to all of those people that are new or maybe a few weeks/months in (or maybe even those thinking about it)... this is the norm. You can get carried away by all of the youtube channels and facebook groups where people are showing their silver finds daily. This is a small subset of thousands and thousands of people that are doing this.

Don’t mark coins. I hate it. That said, I’ve absolutely found silver with a bunch of marked coins.
But you’re right. You’re more throughout than most people searching coins. Lots of good ones could be damaged by this.

So if you are just hunting silver you can burn through a $500 box in less than 15 minutes. If you are hunting for varieties… figure 30-45. If you are also filming for RUclips… add another 15-20 minutes. None of these times include pickup reroll or drop off somewhere if there is a coin machine. Those are times for me to do it. If you have no clue what you’re doing times could vary greatly.

Been there, done that with several boxes and it's always a bummer to find marked coins - seems like it is getting morre common. The last 2 boxes produced one silver each but at least it was better that not at all. Good luck hunting next time:)

When I first got into the hobby, I had like a 6 month run where every box I picked up was like this. It slowed a lot over the last few years, but these 2 boxes were awful.

If you can find the one with the CUD above America on the reverse it can be worth a few bucks. Other than that... No, the are worth 50 cents. Its the most overproduced half dollar in existance.

@@MrDubz25 To the right buyer they can be, but most CRHers find so many that we just toss them back after making a full run or two. A full run can fetch a nice little premium... but individuals are tough to sell.

I wish I knew. Honestly I think its going to continue to bobble up and down for some time to come. I have slowed a bit on my stacking silver purchases (except for some collectible things). Now just trying to time the dips and the premium drops. If Inflation hitting like 7%-9% a few years ago didn't drive up the price... not sure what will. Even gold sales are down now.

Don’t get hung up on marked coins. Some people are looking for specific items. I have been to coin store digging through 90 percent boxes. Looking for specific years and mint marks. Completely overlooking the better dates!!! Silly me!!!
