  • Found this video from last year that never got finished, so I decided now would be a good time to publicly humiliate myself by showing off how absolutely terrible I played. At least I looked great, eh!?
    This edit is a format I haven't done before. I was somewhat inspired by the videos that Matt the ‪@GoalCreaseGuardian‬ puts out where he assesses his own play in real time. I figured I'd give it a go. Let me know what you think!

    Almost looks like Ron Hextall except I think he wore a Brian's Glove and he used Vic heavy goalie stick with the black tape and huge curve. This is my best memory from '88 1st round playoffs against the Caps.

      Hextall went from Cooper gloves (12 and 31) when he first came up to Brian's gloves. Pads were Pop Kenesky's in brown then a tiny time in all white. Went to the all white GP95s after. There were some black and orange versions i there too. Then all white John Brown pads when he went to the Nords with Brian's gloves. Think he went to Vaughn pads with the Isles and stayed with them in his return with the Flyers. His gear game was strong...

    The GP95s came in S,M,L, XL and XXL too. Same as Bauer sells today for pads.
    Ironically those Cooper sticks were not feather lite at all.
    I like the break angle of the GM31 glove. Plus it looked pretty rad.

    I'm surprised those 32" Coopers fit you. They look taller than 32's. Nice kit!! ❤

      Anything 32-34 fit me great.

    I think all the bad goals went in because you didn’t wear orange socks with the pads. As for the commentary, it’s going to be easier on recent footage. Just tell us what you were thinking as the play goes by. Nice work!

    Do you have bad knees from years old goaltending, or are you trying to play the 80's stand-up style?

    • @CooperGoalie
      @CooperGoalie  2 месяца назад +2

      I have bad knees (and back) from the 1st 45 years of my life BEFORE I tried playing hockey goaltender.

      @@CooperGoalie haha gotcha. Your videos are fantastic! Put those knees and back to the test and let's see an Allan Bester setup at some point!

    Curious, how tall are you and what lie/paddle measurement was that Cooper stick?

    • @CooperGoalie
      @CooperGoalie  17 дней назад

      I'm 5'11" and that particular stick is a Lie 15 and I believe a 25" paddle

    • @dmonsef
      @dmonsef 17 дней назад

      @@CooperGoalie I'm 6 ft and use a Warrior composite stick with a lie 14 and 26" paddle. Lie has to do with the angle of degrees on the paddle relative to the stick blade, right? A 25" paddle seems short for playing a pure stand-up style with those Coopers. I think a 26" or 27" would better suited(balance) for playing in a stand-up position. Butterfly goalies of today who are big goalies are using 25" paddle length so they can keep their blocker in tight to their waist better.

    Just from observation of this video, you look too stiff in those pads. I could be wrong, but maybe some of the leg straps needed to more loose?

    • @CooperGoalie
      @CooperGoalie  2 месяца назад +1

      The pads are designed to be wore snug at this point in gear evolution. I do have them a little loose on top…I’m just physically that stiff 😂
