KawaiiBear yeah RAM management "tweak". Initially it sucks at keeping ram in order to conserve battery, same with the S6 and even the G5. But funny you mention Samsung is "poor at improving RAM management" yet the S7 keeps most apps in the background and a ton of other phones don't
Yeah. HTC has it turned off to save battery. In that case HTC should've just put in a bigger battery so they wouldn't have to sacrifice performance. Then the HTC will be even more of a beast of a phone
Anyone know david said the phone take selfie photo... ( that is mean front camera used ) but.. if you look it again, it said flash is off meanwhile all phone doesn't has front flash ??
Sorry to say that. But HTC lost the game.Especially with the U Ultra.BIgger with smaller screen than its competitors.Smaller battery. No 3.5mm audio jack.No wireless charges and so on.This company will soon close.I really miss the days where the M8 was the best phone.
well the htc 10 is still a kickass phone....and the new u11 also is quite a good phone..but yeah htc with its m7 and m8 were kings in the android market at one point...sad to see them so powerless now....they removed their most unique feature which many people liked the boom sound...it like if sony xperias removed the camera button or the side mounted fp sensor..sad stuff man
HTC uses eMMC 5.1 storage which is a little slower on read speeds resulting to slower startup of apps. While both GS7 and G5 uses UFS 2.0 but performance on the 10 will be no different from the G5. If the 10 had UFS 2.0 then it'll kill both the s7 and g5. Unfortunately it doesn't
Yeah, you can really see the difference when loading games, htc was notably slower. If they used the newer storage, it would probably be even faster than the Exynos version of the S7.
HTC phones are supposed to last for a long period of time. I have an HTC one x and still works as day one. I want to upgrade to 10 or the next year's phone. The problem is that HTC's phones are too expensive.
dracula vegeta You are not alone brother. I also have m8. Even in 2017 this phone is the best only complain about this phone is camera on low ligh other stuffs are just perfect.
aleksandar vujanic the thing with the htc is that it's faster in the real life cuze it keeps all the apps loaded and ready to go that's why I love it's software cuze it's a daily not a race software and I'm just wondering if the m8 will get the nougat update
+Leander Dsouza so what? Why to put snapdragon in iphone? We are talking about the fastest phone available in the market(doesn't matter which platform) and the iphone 6s still holds the title for that.
What a nice video ...wow I had the chance to enjoy the luxury S7 edge with such awesome display , but although is a little bit faster than HTC 10 ..I got the HTC 10...putting all the card on the table, taking every single detail...HTC was my favorite. Greetings from Chile
For the OnePlus 3 test, make sure you apply the RAM fix with a value of 60, not 42 as most people are suggesting. Then do the speed test with double the apps, just to make it fun ;) I can get 40 (forty!) apps running before they need to refresh. Good luck getting the S7 to do that!
+Rockmanu Actually it sucks. They use cheap horrible tricks to achieve this. For example, did you know that if you type something in a Web browser (like a reply here) and before submitting it you switch to another screen or app a few times and then come back to submit only to find out that your entire post is cleared and deleted. Ios deletes text when you try to multitask. This one of the many cheap terrible tricks apple does to increase speed. Its only noticeable to someone who power use both platforms equally.
No the S7 is good in raw performance but lacks in multitasking. Look how bad the HTC did 1st lap but had every app ready to go. All within 2 seconds of each other proves that raw performance isn't needed if you have apps open all the time and don't close them. Although battery on the other hand is another story.
Daniel Grabovskiy While that is true. The Exynos chip does better in multi-core because of the eight cores which is why it does so well compared to the snapdragon in this test. If he did some single core performance than the snapdragon would win hands down.
+Daniel Grabovskiy dude you're a fucking idiot, trying so hard to make the Samsung look bad. It doesn't matter how bad the G5 beat it in the first round if it had to reload every large app. HTC only caught up because of its quick animations (or lack there of). Stop making excuses, Samsung clearly won this test
***** I guess you don't know how 8 core works...it's big.little meaning only 4 cores run at any given time. 4 cortex a57 and 4 cortex a53. 4 for efficiency and 4 for power...8 cores is useless in raw performance.
Well iPhones have software and hardware that are made by the same company. This allows the sofware to be completely optimized for the hardware. This is a luxury that these other OEMs simply dont have. So, you are correct, the iPhone will beat these phones in raw speed, but speed isnt everything. What about the display or battery life, or arguably the camera? Honestly if you want the latest and the greatest Android is the way to go. On the other hand if you want a simple, light, and snappy user interface IOS all the way.
You also have to realise all 3 of these phones are pushing higher quality displays, which could effect results. Wait until 2025 when Apple release a QHD phone then do a comparison.
+Ty Miller sir we are talking about equal terms let me compare iphone 6s plus here which has a 1080p display so it has lesser pixels to produce hence better speeds with a little optimization from apple ios was good till v7 after 8 even that stutters once in a while no phone is perfect but high price tag with yester year hardware can be justified only for cash cows of apple
So basically LG was the fastest opening apps but HTC was the beast at RAM management and multitasking. Wish we had an HTG lol, which would basically be the 10 with UFS 2.0 storage
To anyone asking, Yes he did this same test with the iPhone 6s and Galaxy S7. Both Snapdragon and Exynos. Both Galaxy S7s were put to shame by the iPhone 6s. Go back a bit on his channel to see for yourself.
Takeaway from this video? Samsung looks to have really sorted out their memory management on the Exynos S7 while HTC also has great memory management, probably a little better than the S7. LG probably should consider a slightly less-aggressive memory management algorithm but it's not like all these phones are slow. In fact, in daily use, I'd say they are one of the very fastest phones you can buy right now. My personal favorite? The S7. Looks great and since Samsung is looking to refine it's skin (and a special app called Good Lock, which basically makes some stuff like a lot like stock Android), it should perform nicely as well. I'm looking to get the Note 7, though, which should be a great complement to my 12.9-inch iPad Pro, which has been an absolute performance screamer since getting it back in January.
Also, if anyone asks why the LG G5 made the time-lapse in Lapse It faster, it's probably because Lapse It is a heavily single-threaded app. As such, it favors stronger single-core performance. The Exynos 8890 and Snapdragon 820 have strong single-core performance (over 2000+ in Geekbench 3 for both), but the 820 has slightly stronger single-core performance. That is a very likely explanation for the G5 (and perhaps the HTC 10) processing the time-lapse faster.
Still the best speed tests. What a race, really nothing in it when you have only 4 seconds between first and last place, all phones very fast. HTC multitasking still the best, it looked beat there but had all apps ready to go. Samsung has made a great processor with the Exynos.
Is the animation in dev options turned off for all phones? Seems like they all came pretty close in the end. Personally, reloading apps from memory faster is a bigger priority for me than initially starting them so HTC 10 seems to be pretty good on that front
If not for the Exynos version of the S7 Edge (which most Americans will never own), the HTC 10 would've won. While not first out the gate, the HTC 10 does the best job of holding apps in memory.
I do recall using the word "most." If you think the average consumer is going to buy a 600 to 700 dollar unlocked phone, think again. The Sprint, AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile US version of the S7 is Snapdragon ...and Samsung did an awful job optimizing it for their TouchWiz overlaid version of Android.
the G5 and HTC are still excellent devices just because they lost by a difference of 1 or 2 seconds does not mean they are already garbage for a moment thought that the G5 would win because advancement and because of that would say that the S7 is rubbish ?? one can have better things than the other but in the end that it will only import the person who buys any of the 3 devices
the big question tho, did you disable LG's stock feature that optimizes games for battery performance? the result may have been much different should you have turned that off...
Holy shit, Samsung finally figured out how to RAM Management!
+Ufuk Ulusoy thank God my S6 has an exynos, wish I would have waited 3 months though
exynos is the back of touchwiz and with 6.0 it finally figured out the ram managemnt
+TruckerGuy135 All S6's have Exynos because SD is trash. Sadly Samsung fell into Qualcomm's trap this year in hopes of SD improving
+Big Mo unfortunately
KawaiiBear yeah RAM management "tweak". Initially it sucks at keeping ram in order to conserve battery, same with the S6 and even the G5. But funny you mention Samsung is "poor at improving RAM management" yet the S7 keeps most apps in the background and a ton of other phones don't
ohh from where did that HTC came and finished just 2 secs behind!
multitasking beast
I bet if he turned on maximum CPU performance mode it would've won no problem
The problem is, the general consumers wont use it. But it does make a big speed boost indeed
Yeah. HTC has it turned off to save battery. In that case HTC should've just put in a bigger battery so they wouldn't have to sacrifice performance. Then the HTC will be even more of a beast of a phone
+Javier Prado Dude just stop making excuses
I have the S7 Edge Exynos version. I'm so proud of it ^_^
I have it to! :D
me 2
same
Snapdragon :( I can't root
Congratz m8 you got a good phone :v
I love how my phone won at the end ^
lol me too
I'm love to my Black Onyx S7 😍😍
Won by 2 seconds, lol stupid
+Mahmoud Manla that comeback from the 10 though, that was epic :p
Your phone has fucked by the iPhone 6s lol
Thanks samsung for making a good processor and ram management...
yeah
nope ram management htc is the beast but the winnner is s7e anw
+Ngọc Bảo Nguyễn
For samsung this is an improvment 😅
Anyone know david said the phone take selfie photo... ( that is mean front camera used ) but.. if you look it again, it said flash is off meanwhile all phone doesn't has front flash ??
buy s7 faster than htc
and now lets see how much costs each phone.
S7 edge = 570 euros
Htc 10 = 615 euros
Lg G5 = 380 euros
So for me the winner is G5.
Tech VEVO I love Htc, but Lg is the most affordable device. Overall all 3 phones are way better than stupid Iphone.
Sorry to say that. But HTC lost the game.Especially with the U Ultra.BIgger with smaller screen than its competitors.Smaller battery. No 3.5mm audio jack.No wireless charges and so on.This company will soon close.I really miss the days where the M8 was the best phone.

And now let's but all 3 phones in water or try to do some wireless charging or some battery test
Unfortunately it doesn't
nerd
Sky Jaheim yea right, thanks, i guess lol
Didn't know that..interesting.
Yeah, you can really see the difference when loading games, htc was notably slower. If they used the newer storage, it would probably be even faster than the Exynos version of the S7.
HTC has much faster animation also
Samsung winning Lap 2, what is this sorcery? :O That's awesome to see. What a great battle too!
HTC phones are supposed to last for a long period of time. I have an HTC one x and still works as day one. I want to upgrade to 10 or the next year's phone. The problem is that HTC's phones are too expensive.
Way to go David !!! probably the most frustrating speed test your channel has ever done. Keep it up
#PhoneBuffStyle speed test, the best in market
out there I meant xD
App load time - S7 wins
GPU processing - G5 wins
Multitasking - HTC wins
this video prove that
samsung is king of android
finally after so much time... Phonebuff style speed tests are best
galaxy s7 can easily beat iPhone 6s any time the galaxy s7 is the king of all the phones out there
All of them are good imo ^^
Yep.
watching it on my speed champ exynos s7 edge
same
watching on iPhone 6S :)
مبروك 😂😂😂
It ain't no speed champ anymore.
How's it holding up a year later? Still that snappy?
So far greatest speed test I've ever seen.. nice one David.
Well, I don't really care, I will still buy HTC 10
wow, the amount of nostalgia in this videos.
and I'm here sitting alone happy with my htc m8
dracula vegeta You are not alone brother.
I also hope that Htc m8 will get Nougat version. You are right about Htc software. It is not laggy and ram management is great.
hey IPHONE FANBOYS! try having the iPhone 6s run on a QUAD-HD display and be that quick!
like to hear them comment their non sense. : /
non sense is to have a 2k screen on 5.5'-6' device, compromising both performance and battery life.
S7 just need to be a litle better in multi tasking, like htc
Samsung is king of multitasking XD
+Ninja DiamondMiner ur right bro
+Ninja DiamondMiner true
+Ninja DiamondMiner not as much as HTC
i think he means like multi window and so on
Htc and lg fan don't cry please!Samsung FTW!
s7 is the best
that's by far the best and most thrilling speed test I've ever seen. Congrats.
and the winner is the Iphone 6s
Guess you didn't watch the video 😂
+Ninja DiamondMiner Lmfao
Yup, it still remains the speed champ because 6s plus defeated s7 exynos in the speed test.
+Shresth Dave its a different platform put snapdragon 820 in 6s n thn compare it with s7 exynos varient
+Leander Dsouza so what? Why to put snapdragon in iphone? We are talking about the fastest phone available in the market(doesn't matter which platform) and the iphone 6s still holds the title for that.
great video man ur content jus keep getting better u the beat when it comes to speed test.
iphone can beat everyphone because of shitty display 720p
lol it's not because of the display resolution... iOS just has far superior ram management.
+Liem Budzien Optimisation****
phonebuff is using iPhone 6S plus and it's a 1080p resolution display. Difference is not as pronounced as you make it seem
thana chok Hahaha nice comment especially your picture. Piss on Apple
What? O_o
So you say the iPhone can beat everyone because it has a shitty display...ok.I totally understanded that
Favourite Speed test of all time! Greatly conducted, recorded, and the race itself was intense!
S7 for the win !!
What a nice video ...wow I had the chance to enjoy the luxury S7 edge with such awesome display , but although is a little bit faster than HTC 10 ..I got the HTC 10...putting all the card on the table, taking every single detail...HTC was my favorite. Greetings from Chile
S7 Edge Forever
Agreed
Yep #S7 😂
True
+Lame Name True dat
me too omg it was so intense!
Amazon didn't actually finish loading on the G5 at the very end. Nor when you loaded it the first time.
hahah pround To be s7 edge owner. 😎😎
For the OnePlus 3 test, make sure you apply the RAM fix with a value of 60, not 42 as most people are suggesting. Then do the speed test with double the apps, just to make it fun ;)
I can get 40 (forty!) apps running before they need to refresh. Good luck getting the S7 to do that!
Exynos rocks! 😎😎
Ikr
ikr
The note 7 is going to beat the S7 edge now with 6gb ram wooho
woohoo* excited much!
Don't worry, Samsung is going to fuck up memory management. AGAIN.
+ast5515 lol tru
+Rockmanu Nobody said anything about iPhones or Apple...
+Rockmanu
Actually it sucks. They use cheap horrible tricks to achieve this.

Its only noticeable to someone who power use both platforms equally.
s7 is beast
yess was waiting for this video !! this was one hectic race, was rooting for the HTC though :(
doesn't make much of a difference. they are all great phones
your speed tests are the best 👍
htc 10 king of multitasking
Oh my god, I'm holding my breathe to watch this race LoL. My Phone is WON !!
Team S7 edge/ S7!
That was so close in the end , what a thriller !
nice comeback htc 10.
What Race! Great Job As Always!
Haha thanks for showing who da man galaxy gs7 for the win and best phone of 2016 ....well until the note 7 is released
perfect display still best too
True...phone of the year
the US version is trash
then what happened when note 7 has released? lol
Omgsh that was the closest speed test!! 2:22, 2:24, and 2:20!! Great race!
htc 10 better as multitasking than s7 edge, lg g5.
HTC has great RAM management
so the s7 still looses in raw performance and marginally wins on multitasking....which is why i don't own a Samsung device
No the S7 is good in raw performance but lacks in multitasking. Look how bad the HTC did 1st lap but had every app ready to go. That was honestly more exciting than nascar
Still slower than the iPhone 6S
its a different platform put sd820 in iphone n compare it s7 will blow tht shit of
+Leander Dsouza s7 still slower than my iPhone🤗
Your iPhone 6S till slower than my Nokia 3310
Haha Robin ,yea the 6s still remains the speed king.
+Robin Joustra than fo mann
The last lap was so close. HTC 10's RAM Management is fantastic. Although S7 Edge won, it had to reload Netflix
iPhone beat all of them in speed bye
true dat
obviously it completely different platform

glad samsung fixed memory issue
love my g935f :3
Hey, This was posted on my Birthday! And I'm getting a G5 on my next (2017) Birthday!
To anyone asking,
Yes he did this same test with the iPhone 6s and Galaxy S7. Both Snapdragon and Exynos.
Both Galaxy S7s were put to shame by the iPhone 6s.
Go back a bit on his channel to see for yourself.
Power (exynos) or optimization (Sense 8). Im amazed the comeback of HTC and finished just 2 seconds behind the 's7

I cheer more than watching Green Bay Packers playing the Superbowl
I'm getting an S7 for my birthday and HOLY SHIT IT'S SO FAST *
S7 THE BEAST!😍😎
great vid, would love an htc 10 vs iPhone 7 too.
omg i just stood up from the chair
Still the best speed tests. What a race, really nothing in it when you have only 4 seconds between first and last place, all phones very fast. HTC multitasking still the best, it looked beat there but had all apps ready to go. Samsung has made a great processor with the Exynos.
That was unbelievably close
i love your commentary
The LG G5 pulled a Steph Curry on that second lap.
Who all just come here to watch phonebuff speed test?
Is the animation in dev options turned off for all phones? Seems like they all came pretty close in the end. Personally, reloading apps from memory faster is a bigger priority for me than initially starting them so HTC 10 seems to be pretty good on that front
finally David used Exynos version of S7 after being attacked by lots of fans previously lmao
This is so intense to watch! Hahahhaha! I am almost pee in my pants. Dang it!
HTC was not giving up. damn it was opening those apps quick lol.
S7's comeback was mad
No way! HTC 10 second?? unbelievable
my g5 is like me. too lazy to do things over again haha
Yay, 2 seconds difference between them.
conclusion: it doesn't matter wich one you buy, you'll make the right choise.
The epilepsy-inducing animations on the S7 tho...
In their title it says galaxy s7 but it is the s7 edge
awesome come back from HTC i an say i am still a proud owner of that underdog of a phone lol
If not for the Exynos version of the S7 Edge (which most Americans will never own), the HTC 10 would've won. While not first out the gate, the HTC 10 does the best job of holding apps in memory.
USA isn't the only country in the world that exists. A big part of the rest of the world gets the Exynos variant.
I do recall using the word "most." If you think the average consumer is going to buy a 600 to 700 dollar unlocked phone, think again. The Sprint, AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile US version of the S7 is Snapdragon ...and Samsung did an awful job optimizing it for their TouchWiz overlaid version of Android.
...and for you this test makes sense. I'm just pointing out for most Americans it's a bit irrelevant.
+sunny eclectech and most average consumers won't care about that shit. SD S7 is still a great performer so they won't notice
You should re run the test on S7 with Quick Launch Camera feature turned off.
the G5 and HTC are still excellent devices just because they lost by a difference of 1 or 2 seconds does not mean they are already garbage for a moment thought that the G5 would win because advancement and because of that would say that the S7 is rubbish ??
one can have better things than the other but in the end that it will only import the person who buys any of the 3 devices
Please make a speed test video with the Galaxy S7 edge (exynos version) and the iPhone SE
HTC 10 = BEAST, that come back though..
who else is getting the Orange is the new black ads all the time
HAHAHA what a comeback by the s7 ;) honestly the best phone I've ever used. battery, Camera, gaming, speed, water proofing. Excellent device.
G8 vs S10 vs HTC 13 I supposed
They never made an HTC U13, sadly.
I need your background music this is amizing 😍😍
Just wait for the HTC 11 and you will see the beast ;)
HTC 10 is the multitask champion. It finished the 2 lap 8.6 seconds quicker than the s7 (exynos) did.
Now I know I'm crossing off the htc 10 from my android list. I thought it was going to be amazing but it's way too slow. I'm sticking with the G5
the big question tho, did you disable LG's stock feature that optimizes games for battery performance? the result may have been much different should you have turned that off...
Both HTC anf S7 benifited from apps being in background. While G5 had to reload.
