I'm bad at the fishing mini game and I never even tried to catch the legendary fish before. With the advanced iridium fishing rod with two trap bobbers and the deluxe bait, I caught both Legend and Mutant Carp (alas, "only" golden quality) on first try without any food buff because both times I ran out before they bit, lol. Now, I don't know how much that bait and that second bobber do in terms of numbers, but it makes Master Angler and the potential attempt at Perfection slightly less intimidating. Overall, 1.6 made fishing much more fun, with the new rod and new types of bait, including bait tailored to specific fish. And I have an entire rainbow of aged roe because roe keeps popping in the treasure chests, lol. Edit: maybe worth mentioning, I have no enchantment on the rod, haven't even been to Ginger Island in this save file (and never tried out all the forge stuff in the ones that made it so far).
@@Kasiarzynkawell now with the second tackle you can use a quality bobber at the same time as your usual setup to get them iridium quality without a perfect catch (Or 2 quality bobber for the Angler (in fall) but it's the easiest legendary fish and is doable without any bonus tackle anyway)
I used the rod during a three day rainy stretch to catch over a hundred Catfish. With Quality bobber making them all iridium and the extra value skills, it was over 170k. All from home on the Riverland farm.
i really really enjoy your videos, you make them informative without feeling like a mountain of information is being shoved down my throat, you kinda make it mouthsized if that makes sense and i love that for a cozy evening, when i don't want to have to think as much. also your voice is super calming
I decided for my new play-through that I wanted to catch every fish as iridium quality and display them in tanks. The new fishing rod is a godsend as I can now guarantee iridium legendary fish that I can actually catch!
I remember when I first started playing, fishing was the most difficult thing for me. I could not catch anything. 4 years later and I just got the achievement for churching all the fish!
i've been doing my recent legend II farming with a trap bobber, a quality bobber, and wild bait. sure, it's only a 10% chance to hook each time, but there's also that small chance to duplicate the fish when caught. most i've caught in three days with this setup is 36 iridium quality legend IId, utilizing tent kits to sleep by the mountain lake for more time save. after smoking, and relevant professions, the entire stack sold for just over 1.5 MILLION gold. in three days.
I can do the lava eels consistently with challenge bait, but before 1.6 was a pain without the advanced iridium it was a pain since I used quality bobbers and no fishing buff.
I caught two golden treasure chests in a row, one after the other- four iridium bars in the first, three in the second! As someone who’s still only got gold tools and is still scared of skull cavern, I see this as a huge win
I got eight legend 2 in a day using a master enchant rod with master bit, trap bobber and quality lure. I had dish of the sea and two luck rings as well. It might not catch as many as this setup but not having them escape is worth it for those of us who just can’t quite manage otherwise 😂
New impossible achievement ; catch 3 the legends No, not the legend 2, the legend. A perfect catch, with challenge bait, on a one time catch. Didn’t get it? Restart the day.
I mean you can get infinite legends by panning for them before you've caught it once, but it is possible. TheHaboo perfected every fish on 1.4 and since then the ability to use double cork bobbers and qi seasoning and master enchantment has made the fishing rod significantly larger. Also, no need to restart the day when you can just exit out of the menu once you mess up.
8:16 the best loadout for Golden chests is actually double dressed spinners since we cut the time to bite by 2/3 at the loss of only 10% chance of finding treasures
Honestly, I think the sonar bobber is so useless unless you don’t really fish. If you actually fish a lot then you learn to tell the different fish apart by their bobbing patterns from experience. It’s way better to use a quality bobber for the money increase imo.
Honestly, if you have the "Fishing Info Overlay" mod, it makes the Sonar Bobber obsolete by replacing the generic fish icon during the kinigame with the sprite of whatever is on the line. This also helps learn the bobbing patterns a bit easier imo
If you've already caught it, and already reached level 10 fishing, there's really no reason to catch fish you don't need unless that's how you plan to make money
@@Nothing2150Real time also matters to a lot of people. However, if you are hunting a specific fish, it is probably going to be a pretty distinctive one and more chances (via dresses spinner or curiosity lure is likely better than sonar). But it can have some value, especially if someone is catching fish for the first time and don't know what a Dorado or Eel or Octopus acts like.
another application of challenge bait is with the statue of blessings water blessing, going for legend 2 from the qi quest. a lot less consistent but each sells for 42,000 (smoked with artisan and fisherman professions) which could be a cool almost 400,000 gold for very little effort, just a lot of luck (if you have the right setup and are skilled enough, this could be done on any qi quest day regardless of blessings)
I only need the seasonal Legends to have Master Angler, and that requires remembering where they are in what season (I have Legend and the sewer guy!). I am willing to try the Lava Eels strategy one day. That looked like fun! Ponds are not expensive late game (or even mid game) so long as you can get the Seaweed (the Early Fishing Rods are good for this).
i think there is a mechanic with golden chests where the rate at which they appear vs norma chests is boosted by daily luck, not sure though. Great video though!
I was planning to get all of the collectable items in the game and this might be a real challenge for me 1. Is getting 3 of each legendary fish (for the smoke and bait version 2. While perfectly catching the legendary fish using the challenge bait, the hard part is getting the 2 roes (one for the aged roe) from treasure chest because its now possible to acquire them Wish me luck HAHAHAHHAHAHA And for the others too
hey just pan for the legendary fish. it's gonna take a while, but probably faster than getting both a perfect catch and roes from a treasure chest. pan for 2 legendary fish and then all you need is the roes
If you have good/best luck, wild bait is better than targeted bait for the legend. You should have enough double procs to offset the 14% lower hook rate (20% versuss 34%). It also makes misses or bad hook RNG sting less.
I am somewhat disappointed crab pots didn't really receive any sort of improvement from mastery, despite trapper having HALF of the perk tree. That said, i am a fisher at heart and catch legend during my first spring no problem. So all the added skill depth is so super welcome.
I don't really understand stardrop tea as a late game reward. I was at full hearts with everyone besides Leo before my third year without really trying, and someone who wants to max friendship quickly would probably achieve it before ever getting their first, unless it came from the prize machine.
You mean The legend 2 ? Because you can only catch the Legend one time even with targeted bait, so this is a huge waste to turn the most expensive fish into bait
Challenge bait works on legendary fish too. That being said, I have no idea if it’s actually possible to do it or not because clearly I have mod installed.
The Angler is possible for sure, the others would be a bit of a challenge. Using the blessing of waters for them is risky because none of them is a guaranteed catch like Lava Eels are

Special charm 1.25%
Two rings (very easy to get now witj iridium pan) 1%
