And I asked myself the question, “would that be a good idea?” But then I ran into Chris’s video about you two working together and making it work! It was on point🔥 My point is everything you said is exactly what we’ve discussed! 😆👌🏼 That’s what’ll take to work for yourself. But well worth it🙏🏼

Such good points. I dropped income going self-employed and do more hours BUT I'd rather work 9 hours a day where I want, doing the work I want than even 3 hours a day where I hated it
Truth told, been doing this on my own for 9 years now!

Whaaaaat????!!! A wall mounted phone?? With a long cord??? But seriously, all of these are spot on!!! I had my own part time business and had to master all of these. But most of all, be teachable. You have to be able to learn and apply those lessons.

A very honest and upfront video on the things that matter and what's in the creative field once you get into it. Thank you Lizzie. In my journey i have come across several jerks who are horrible to work with, and they never get a call back ever again from the client.

This was such a good video, Lizzie! Love the positive attitude over everything. You hit some great points like Loving what you do, which I do! And the dope B-Roll segments of the amazing cottage in between the points. Kept my interest the whole time by breaking up the talking points and change of locations around the cottage! GREAT WORK!!

heck yeah, this is just what I needed to get motivated again. sometimes it's so hard to work for yourself especially when you feel stuck. I am a freelance photographer and filmmaker and I was so frustrated these days because I am working my ass off and sometimes it feels like I am not making progress. thank you for your motivation and this video!

I embarrassingly had to google net 30 but I glad I did. And you're so right. It's a matter on budgeting. I had an issue with my last payment and had to wait to get NEW check sent, so not only was it behind, it was DOUBLY behind. Luckily I am pulling "double duty" right now with jobs, but still. I can see how things can get scary.
How much I love this video.... finally someone said how it really is. Totally love the comments about leaving attitude and ego aside.... i treat my clients like my best friends and that is the key...

Starting from scratch is so hard!! It’s so much easier to go work for someone else.. I’ll soon be transitioning to more photography and less “ day time job” in two weeks. Not quite sure what jobs I’ll find but I have something to land on if I fail! Took your advice on saving before going full time. 😄 Cheers from the MidWest 🌾🌽 in the US!
It is hard! And it's not really the best fit for most people. And that doesn't mean this is some "elite" club or anything. It's honestly way easier, more secure, and sometimes better to work for someone else. It's just that If you're a creative human then that won't satisfy you!

I agree, that was my favorite part.
The ego bit really resonates here- I have a production horror story regarding someone who couldn't leave their ego at the door. Completely ruined the entire thing, wasted mad people's time and money. It's such a bummer, but it really taught my friends and I a ton about working with people who love creating... and not working with people who just love 'having created something.' Also your titles are pure fuego
As a new entrepreneur, that video made me node a lot like "yeeeees so true"

Great tips, Lizzie, I like how they apply to basically all freelance/self-employed jobs. I believe that people get better at being self-employed once they understand how to change their mindsets coming from a steady-income job. It might be hard at first having to deal with everything on your own, but once you get the hang of it, it's the best. I wouldn't go back to working for someone else, at all.

Cody, thank you for commenting. My idea is to drive people crazy with some funny stuff at the end and call it an end roll. The only drawback is that some people would skip to the end just to have fun and the RUclips algorithm would not like that.

Hi Lizzie! Love your stuff! You and Chris make AMAZING videos. For someone just starting out with a very limited gear setup, what kind of jobs do you recommend targeting? Getting the ball rolling so I can reinvest in better gear and infrastructure is a goal of mine, but I'm not sure of the type of jobs I should be going after in that situation. Thanks!
