But he DOES include the romantic Byronic vampires! I love that some are classy and some are like worms. But yeah, wouldn't it be awful if there was an Edward type dating one of the heroines
Admittedly, I haven't read too many of King's short stories, and from what I have read I have a hard time remembering much of them, so I need to go back and re-read those ones, as well as get through all the others. However, the ones I do remember and really enjoy are The Boogeyman and One for the Road from Night Shift. I once had someone say to me that King overwrites and he can't stop himself, to which I pointed out these stories, because they are super brief and the creep factor in them is at a 10 for me. More so with One for the Road, with the eyes in the dark and the little girl waiting for her goodnight kiss (and I also just love the setting and vibe), but I also love how The Boogeyman ends, and I've yet to see the film adaptation that just came out.
I love me some Dolan’s Cadillac….there’s several that I enjoy re-reading, but that one is my all-time favorite one, and the first one that sprang to mind.
So many good stories! Uncle Otto's Truck from Skeleton Crew always stood out to me. That imagery of the truck in the field was just so vivid Also yeah can't believe people hate JAS! So many good stories. N and The Things They Left Behind are great
Hello E. The Cat from Hell is awesome. The Night Flyer is a good one. Children of the Corn is just amazing. I teach them in my contemporary Short Story course. What do you think?
My favorite rereads are: Children of the Corn, The Ledge, I Know What You Need, A Good Marriage, and Rat. My favorite is The Ledge. (My mean parents wouldn't buy me trucks. They were for boys. Or dinosaurs or Hot Wheels or even boy dolls!)
Your video reminds me how much i loved reading his short story collections!...Word Processor of the Gods, Mrs Todds Shortcut, Jerusalems Lot(classic), Last Rung on the Ladder,...on and on...how he can he be great at short stories as well as mammoths like The Stand?!
I'm posting this before watching your video so I'm not influenced. The Jaunt, Drunken Fireworks, 1408, The Raft, Mrs. Todd's Shortcut, and Batman and Robin Have an Altercation.
Gramma is my favorite short story from King. I also enjoyed the Twilight Zone adaptation too. This was a great vid!! Thanks for putting in the effort! cheers
Night Shift is Awesome😎👍🏻 I Love it. None of his others come close but I can say that, so far (Not read all of N&D yet) I’ve enjoyed more from each than I’ve disliked though that Survivor Type is one that I like least but I do like Popsy & The Gingerbread Girl.
Ok so this is an almost impossible list to make for me because i absolutely love almost all of Stephen King's short stories, hes the true master of the art form. The Night Flier The Jaunt The Langoliers N Survivor Type And my absolute favourite The Wedding Gig
The stories I found myself rereading alot that I'm not sure you mentioned are One for the Road, The Reach, Home Delivery, Willa, Weeds and The End of the Whole Mess
As I said in the video, I plan do to a tier list soon. Just gotta figure out how I wanna do it, and if I'm gonna include his unpublished/unfinished stories
Sorry, buddy. But I've never thought SK was a great short-story writer. Do keep in mind, most of his shorts I read as a reader and not with writer's eyes. You know how that goes. Your perspective changes after you start writing. I've only read NIGHT SHIFT, BAZARR, some of CREW, some of EVERYTHING EVENTUAL, and some of NIGHTMARES/DREAMSCAPES. My favorites are DOLAN'S CADILLAC and SURVIVOR TYPE. My least fave is that horrible baseball one in BAZAAR. When I think of great short-story writers it's Barker, Rash, Joe Hill, Poe, Ketchum, some of Carver's, Lansdale, as well as Flannery. And I'm with you on the NIGHT/DREAM book cover. It's always been my favorite King cover.
I've read every Stephen King collection besides Let It Bleed and I will give you my shocking, highly controversial top 5, just wait tell you see number one! You and everyone else will throw your toys. 5. You Know They Got One Hellova Band 4. 1408 3. Survivor Type 2. The Jaunt 1. Willa ( Personal loss- I do not expect anyone to understand how much this tale haunts me.)
You said King has been writing since the 70s but he's been writing since the 60s. King completed The Aftermath in 1963 at age 15. He completed The Long Walk in 1967 at age 19, although he did revise the published version in the late 70s. I suspect he rewrote the whole thing or at least did a major overhaul. I really hope I can read the 1967 version someday.
I’m thinking about taking the dark tower trek soon. I made it halfway through wizards and glass but it’s been so long I’d be doing myself a disservice not to start at the beginning especially because the first two books are kinda short. Do you think it’s better to read them all in a row or spread it out and digest?
I think The Jaunt is one of the most disturbing stories I've ever read, but it doesn't fall anywhere near my most liked because I don't find it believable - With technology to teleport would come technology to tell if someone was under anesthetics or holding their breath. And even if there weren't a way to tell with some medical device, there surely would be a needle injection instead or simply a way to do a poke test of some kind.
What I appreciate about Uncle Steve's vampires is that there's no romantic bs, just monsters inside and out
But he DOES include the romantic Byronic vampires! I love that some are classy and some are like worms. But yeah, wouldn't it be awful if there was an Edward type dating one of the heroines
Batman and Robin have an altercation is super dope
Admittedly, I haven't read too many of King's short stories, and from what I have read I have a hard time remembering much of them, so I need to go back and re-read those ones, as well as get through all the others. I’ve only went through the short stories once. I’m gonna do the audiobooks soon but The Mist, The Langoliers and 1408 stand out in my memory.
Upon watching your video, I was reminded that I also like Night Shift, Quitters, Inc., The Last Rung on the Ladder, and A Death.
My favorite rereads are:
Children of the Corn, The Ledge, I Know What You Need, A Good Marriage, and Rat. My favorite is The Ledge. (My mean parents wouldn't buy me trucks. They were for boys. Or dinosaurs or Hot Wheels or even boy dolls!)
Hi E. I just love 1408. A great story and movie, ones of Samuel Jackson's best movies. The Breathing Method is worthy of a movie
I totally expected you to say Vast Majority. LOL!

YES ...Mrs Todd's Shortcut is a classic for me!❤
Gramma is my favorite short story from King. I also enjoyed the Twilight Zone adaptation too. This was a great vid!! Thanks for putting in the effort! cheers
I consider N., and Dolan's Cadillac to be novellas, not short-stories but if we're including them, I too like to re-read those.

Great video! I appreciate the In the Hills, the Cities shoutout, as well!

The Night Flier
The Jaunt
The Langoliers
N
Survivor Type
And my absolute favourite
The Wedding Gig
Reading Night Shift as we speak! Miss ya friend!
The stories I found myself rereading alot that I'm not sure you mentioned are One for the Road, The Reach, Home Delivery, Willa, Weeds and The End of the Whole Mess
I meantioned "One for the Road" but I personally don't reread the others nearly as much.
Yey doobly doo is back 😊
Using it sparingly lol
There are at least 5 Live action Dollar Babies for Survivor Type. Cain Rose Up has at least six!
I want a full length feature film tho...
Any thoughts about ranking all the stories in each King collection from least favorite to most favorite?
As I said in the video, I plan do to a tier list soon. Just gotta figure out how I wanna do it, and if I'm gonna include his unpublished/unfinished stories

Publishing since the 70s. PUBLIHSING.

Read the first four, digest, then read the last three. That's what I do, anyway.
@@EdwardLorn but what of the wind through the keyhole, read it chronologically or save it for a little dessert after?
You can totally include it, it's just not gonna add much, because it's not referenced again in the series.

Please tune in this coming Monday's video. 😁
