I adore Layla and her hidden personality when she sleeps. although disturbing in reality is adorable and makes her so unpredictable haha xD while still being sleepy sweet best girl haha 😂.
One might call her the "sleeping giant", both in under-appreciation and in tankiness. She ironically lives up to her lore, as you pop her in the fight for her shield and support, and she goes back to sleep while someone else takes over. Although, constantly waking her up for her utility might be only exacerbating her problems. I relate greatly to her, you have no idea. LMAO

Layla was my first shielder and she's an absolute treasure. Nice to see her given some love!
Something I'm not sure you mentioned, if you're using Favonius weapons the character has to crit while on field, so you'd want to mix in some normal attacks to trigger it. She's very quick-swap focused so doesn't tend to catch many of her own particles, which is why the burst cost is low to offset that. Personally I run Harbinger because it's easy to keep her at full HP, so you can reliably keep the sword's passive active.

Layla is a big relief for those without zhongli and wanted some good shield with uptime . The fact she's cryo makes her even more better considering cryo resonance and team comps.

Stuff I forgot (as is tradition):
- Getting additonal refinements on the Favonius Sword can help out A LOT. basically at R5, a Favonius sword will 100% generate extra particles on crit and at a much faster cooldown! Particles for days!
- I meant to say weapon effect, not elemental skill when talking about Sac. Sword.
- Festering Desire can also be an OK weapon option, but this is an event exclusive weapon that new players cannot obtain
- You get 40% HP because of 2 piece Tenacity + 2 piece Vorukasha's Glow just to be clear.
- A melt team you could do with Diluc, it got cut off sorry, is Diluc + Layla + Rosaria + Kazuha as an example.
- The event combat minigame was probably not the best way to showcase Layla, as there was barely any threat to the team, Spiral would have been better, but takes longer to do. Sorry! I thought it would be fun to do!
- Kirara is also another shielder, but she came out AFTER Layla, but she finds more usage because Kirara is Dendro!

As a 1.0 player, I really like Layla - because variety is needed and she fills important slots for cryo and phys.
If you set everything important in a team building on one character only, it's easy to be countered by the Abyss or specific enemies when the weak spot of your team is the one character. If you also like to dodge & counterattack as playstyle, the only interesting thing about Zhongli is his res shred and interruption resistance of his shield. His role in cryo is coverred by Layla and C6 Rosaria, which is my goal atm.
I have with Shenhe, Rosaria and Layla everything covered to counter problems which will affect Zhongli, yet three different kits doing damage while supporting instead of one. So yeah, Layla can be very important to players who like to adapt their teams regularly.
I love using layla, i have no zhongli so she's been a huge help for my hu tao and yoimiya.
i also think layla is a better tenacity holder because zhonglis pillar is stationary and easily destroyed, especially with this abyss and the consecrated beasts moving all over the place,
Good point! Layla's shield can also be destroyed easily too, gotta be careful around those consecrated beasts they're scary.

Zhongli is a terrible holder of tenacity so it’s not shocking, the aoe on his pillar is abysmal 😂

Layla is a great shielder and the fact that her shield last the same as her cooldown is easy to remember when youre swapping characters. Another thing is how her burst does not require a large energy and can be used once you reach the energy requirements. I currently have C5 Layla and use 2 2pc HP bonus artis for more tankiness of her shields and I have never regretted using her since I got her.
Layla can help you easily get the achievement to clear Abyss Floor 5-3 with no damage taken. Her shield has been talked a lot, and it is really close to Zhongli's, but only if you build her full HP%/HP%/HP% + Tenacity. The best build is said to be a mix of HP/DMG, because her shielder build only protects you from damage but that is all there is to it, while Zhongli shreds enemy's defense (and thus adds to the overall team damage). That said, she's good in mono cryo teams (to battery and protect against unfreezable enemies) and situationally in teams where some characters need extra protection, but once I pull Zhongli, I'd rather use Zhongli in these latter teams.
Exactly. I got lucky with full HP tenacities along with Crit Damage + crit rate and HP % substat. Almost 6 Spiral abyss i did not needed healer. Only after that i needed bennet.

I just finished building her as she was recently given on a random standard banner pull (on a break when the free one dropped) , and I wanted a new project! I have a VERY invested in C3 Zongli, and because of that... My playstyle no longer includes remembering to dodge.
This guide was incredibly helpful, and now my shielder adds Cryo to the mix which is really helping me mix up my teams for some new reactions. It's almost like I have been playing with a 3-Comp for the last couple of years since Zongli is always on field... And well, Geo. I'm in love, thank you Calamity!!

Layla is so comfy. She is C6 from Nahida banner and I gave her the key sword. At her current build she has almost 50k hp with decent er in tenacity. I think I'll rebuild her one day for more dmg she is just so good

Layla is so underrated, she pops off so much in my Ayaka Shenhe Kazuha team, some great sub DPS and a reliable shield!

Ever since I got her my account has changed so much, As a newbie I wasn't able to fight boss by myself before, I was so bad at dodging. having a combat was my least favorite thing to do on Genshin. Then Layla came she worked really well with my Wanderer, my play style has changed so much, it is getting fun with her. Now she never leave my spyrall abyss team. I don't have Zhongli and I don't think I need him rn but maybe I'll pull him next year to complete my archon collection. Layla just work really well❤️ Not only that she is very relatable as a student just like me.

If you already have Zhongli she is generally not worth using unless she is c4 or above. She can be worth using with Wanderer because Zhongli happens to not synergize as well with him. Zhonglie resist shred is just really valuable for most other teams but not Wanderer.

I use Klee - Nahida - Fischl - Layla as my team and I love it. I have Diona aswell but I like Layla more, even though I dont have any of the swords she wants yet since im quite new ^^ :3 Thanks for the video ^^

Guys I'm gonna be honest with you. I do have Zhongli. I still built layla. This is because she can work with elemental reactions and in some comps she can work even better than Zhongli. She's also more than enough to survive enemies attacks and not get staggered. She's a really good unit. People just put her in lower regard because older players play diona and zhongli.
I have Baizhu unlocked now though. But baizhu can't make a great Yanfei/Layla/Xingqui/Bennet team LMAO. Free melts and freezes for extra safety.
For free to play players, Layla has great value as a shielder. If we had her instead of diona in the time of zhongli, I can bet you everyone would have built her.

I used her the most for my wanderer.
I put fav sword, 2pc milith and 2pc vorkusha, crowned her shield. 4pc milith is inconsistent. U get the 4pc effect only for 4-5 sec depending on ur team comp. She is C4. She can tank!
If u can dodge a bit, she relives burden a bit till floor 11. I was able to play floor 12-2. I Don’t have good chars for 12-3, so please take it with grain of salt.
What's giving you trouble in 12-3 the consecrated beasts?
Layla is the best character in this game
I approved as a Layla Main...plus I used 3 HP main , 1 Atk main, & 1 EM main ToM artifacts for her tank & elem reactions purposes which is great....same build goes for my Kirara, Shinobu, Sayu, Barbara, & Yaoyao.

Agree on everything, but two things. You might have said this, but activating her shield very close to enemies offers slight damage, and will actually help characters like wanderer get cryo (which can be finnicky). I've noticed it helps him get cryo by how close you activate the shield. But all I know is, your hp is only 25k? That's low for tenacity set. 30k minimum, unless you want a hybrid build with attach. I have 37k just by chance.
? Where do you get the 25k? The artifacts screen does NOT show your max HP. Only how much I'm getting from artifacts. My Layla has 40K HP.

F2P here. Already got her C6 even before the summer event.
Got her c4 from Nahida's banner, 1 from Yae's and 1 from the standard banner. I dunno why Hoyo keeps on giving me Layla. Can't complain tho as she's a great shielder.

There is a 3star green sword of energy recharge with 50%+ energy at level 90. Got it from banners. Im using that on my c1 layla

I have C6 layla. And trust me. She is so so better than zongli and other shilders as she gives 20% attack buff+ 30% shield strenth , when paired with Bennet you get additional 20% attck buff + if you use tencity of millilith then bennet gives again 20% attck buff + baidou”s elemental burst this all combination gives my main field unit “which is Arlechino” melt+superconduct + burning reaction with above 40% attck buff + 35% attack buff from that Gladiator set. “You DO NOT NEED HEALER” in this case bcz You always Heal Arlechino before she gets OUT. And this is all possible due to My LAYLA. Yes Layla is MINE !!
She’s part of my main team with : wanderer , faruzan, Yelan and her. That team is my traveling team and Protects my zoomie characters so they don’t get interrupted (wanderer especially) great for just zooming around and getting chest and destroying poor hilichurls lol ok . If you jump up and slam down , sword users more easily break rocks

Yeah, Azdaha is the only time so far where I can't keep that shield up. He just breaks it easily, same with floor 12 of Spiral Abyss. Have her built quite well, those are the only times you'll see her shield break.
Layla is my fave she’s into astrology and shares my bday 😭😍 but I don’t want to switch from the flute to sword of favonious bc it’s aesthetically pleasing 🥴 thanks for the guide!!

the signature weapon of the hydro archon will also be a viable 5☆ sword for layla as it will have an hp% substat.
Yanfei is my main dps because I love this character but I struggle hard without shield and she must be in Melee. I leveled Leyla a bit and was disappointed. It was so bad. But I think it must only build her properly and it works great to be a shield support?
Well you shouldn't expect anything if you didn't level talents or give her artifacts
If you ever get Yanfei to C4 she gets her own shield!
@@calamitygenshinimpact1255 I started saving Gems because the rumors says she is one of the 4* from the Kokomi / Wanderer banner. Atm Yanfei is C2. And Leyla is 80 with artefact set but she felt so weak. But now I have the Fav. Sword and with the free Leyla she's C3. I'll give her a second chance with another weapon and better artefact stats.

I built layla for my wanderer she fits perfectly bcz he needs a shield and also give him crit rate from his passive.
I want to build her for my wanderer, do you find that getting the crit rate passive is easy and consistent?
@@mc9474 It is easier in aoe but in single target rotation gets a little complicated but yes its achievable.
EUla in his banner get much support from Mika to Layla and Kaeya.

Hey!
Well, I figured that was what you meant when you said (from around minute 27 onwards) that Layla would get you 80-90% of the game, basically exploration, but you'd probably see the shield break and/or have trouble keeping the shield alive fighting tough enemies like weekly bosses and/or bosses who aren't meant to be shielded, but dodged.
Azdaha is a weekly boss I've heard I need a shielder (i.e Zhongli) to beat. I haven't currently been able to beat him as a weekly boss, and I need talent resources from him, but maybe your final comment is applicable to Zhongli as well?
@@karikristinehaugberg3890 I wouldn't say you NEED Zhongli or any shielder, it definitely makes the fight more comfy towards the end, but it's doable without one when you know when to run away / dodge certain attacks!

has anyone actually ever gotten frozen from her having hydro applied ? because in my experience it has only removed the other element almost like a cleanse. i use her all the time so i am just wondering how this hasn't happened to me but i constantly see people talk about :')
Now that you mention it, no I haven't been frozen, just thought it would be worth mentioning.
But yeah, I stood in some water popped her skill and burst and I never got frozen. Neat!

You usually need 2 teams for abyss, and its usefull to have more than one element of shielder for different teams

If you value her cryo application and want her as another fav user, then definitely. Purely as a shield bot? Maybe if you want another reliable shielder for the second half in abyss.
Only if you need a second shielder in the Spiral Abyss or if you just like the character herself!
I love Layla and not only as a unit but her character design and the split personality is so cool, I'm not very good at making teams, currently I have Ayaka, Yelan, Kazuha and Layla as a team, is it good?
You can swap out Yelan for someone else since Ayaka's damage comes mainly from her Burst and skill.

In Terms of Weapon Options for Layla i'm kinda screwed. I got Festering Desire, though. This should be also good enough for her, right? So, that i can give my Bennett the only R5 Favonius Sword i have from Layla to him.
I'd give Festering Desire to Bennett and Favonius to Layla. I feel like Bennett is a good enough battery with a low CD on his skill. But I suppose it depends who the main DPS is on the team.
@@calamitygenshinimpact1255 The Thing is i reworked the Artifacts of my Dehya to make her Burst do more Damage and therefore her ER is now 144. And i use Bennett, Mona and Kazuha in her Team, so I wonder if Favonius Sword would be better for the extra Particals for Dehya.

@@calamitygenshinimpact1255 Yeah. Of course i know if i use Xiangling instead of Mona it would be even better. But, first i need to farm better Emblem Pieces for her. Since, Crit seems better than EM on her. Also, i still need to farm one more Pale Flame Piece with both Crit Stats for Eula. And probably Razor, but i was thinking about to make him a Hyperbloom Driver instead. That can also work, right?
The best artifact for her is :
2 piece Tenacity of Milelith.
2 piece Vourukasha's Glow.
(20% HP + 20% HP)
Periodt.
But she can keep up the Tenacity buff most of the time with her Night stars. Which gives her 30% shield strength.
hi, sorry if u already told in the video, but how much crit rate needed to proc fav sword passive?
30% is a good amount to go for, just remember Layla has to be on the field for the weapon's skill to activate!
If she's on a team with another cryo unit then she gets +15% crit rate from Cryo Resonance.
A crit rate main stat circlet is all you need if you struggling to get it on your substats.

Depends on what's her CR without the CR circlet.
If you can maybe get an HP% Circlet that rolls into Crit rate that would be a good replacement.
30% is a good CR for Favonius imo.
I don't have a zhongli either, but I have both layla and kirara and both are good.

do shields stack? sitting here thinking Layla + Kirara might make an excessively beefy combo.... and when combined with Kokomi, might be good for damage

No shields do not stack, if you are using Layla's + Kayla and you take damage both shields will take the damage.

and the sad thing about having multiple C6 characters is, when drawing on a banner, the banner seems to prioritize the character on it that you all ready have C6-ed, got like 4 Yanfei's from like 30 pulls on this banner, when all I want is to upgrade my Rosaria (who will likely be on the Layla team with Mona) XD

I wish I could, I don't have Wanderer and I'm out of primogems to try and pull him on his next banner. Had to use all my gems and then some for Eula :/

i dont care i built her because i like her design. the whole starry theme and astrology is right on point for me. still, zhongli remains my num 1 both character and gameplay vise i just use layla mosly in co op cause i dont have his c2.

I struggled with the combat event a lot…I have a meh team made up of characters I like….not so much characters that are good together😭 (Zhongli, Alhaitham, Yoimiya, and Kokomi) I know I need to build those 4 star supports but I hate the kid and cutesy characters 😂

Well...her shield is better than Diona's but Diona at C6 provides 200EM with her burst for big melt damage.

You have Zhongli at home.
No zhongli? Just use Diona. 30 minutes of coping man. The point of building charater is to spend month of farming, so that you have strong, versitale charater, that can carry you even in abyss. If you are forced to build another charater and spend another extra month just bcs Layle is weak.
Agreed, just build Layla if you like her and don't do abyss or if you don't like meta, because she just suck, just like Dori, just like Dehya and just like Candace. Absolute waste of a good design smh
Layla’s shield is way better than dionas and she has more sustained cryo application. They are not the same.

Edit: how are you spending an entire month building a character? 2 weeks tops for 70/80 with level 8 talents.
@@AnthemTDI agree with you. Especially since versatility doesn't matter if she just so happens to be exactly what you need. A cryo applicator that can carry tenacity, with 100% uptime has good utility for the right team. Diona is wonderful but sometimes you need more shield strength and uptime but not Zhongli because they need an element that reacts.
I agree not everyone has Zhongli and Diona can only be on one team for Abyss. Not to mention Layla can keep the Tenacity buff up pretty much all the time!
Some characters can take a long time to build however if you include artifacts. Depending on the character some artifacts took me a long time to get.
but i use layla in abyss 12 and she handles it with my wanderer or hutao team thou my diona is i the first team for ayaka team. dionas shield is trash in in my hutao or wanderer team so she will just be in freeze team

She's great in hyperbloom team because her shield doesn't mess with dendro cores.
@lancehalzen But she brings nothing to the table, and you can always use Zhongli. if you're hyperbloom, a little bit of geo it's not gonna mess with blooms lol

@@Rex13013as if everyone has zhongli. She brings freeze procs to the table in hyperbloom btw, which can be really valuable depending on the content. Also she can hold fav to help the teams ER needs.
Hyperfridge, freeze, eula hypercarry, etc. She’s really flexible actually.
