Mellow, sweet and lively. One of the clearest and best version's of St Pauls's Suite by Holst that I have heard. Played with tremendous expression and control. Marta Pasternak plays her violin with precision and both she and Barbara Josefiwicz on her viola play beautifully for their individual parts. Overall, the stringed orchestra does a lovely job. Dobrze zrobione wszystkim!
Hold on you said, under my comment, and I quote: "this isn't inherently impressive" and then in your own comment you say "this is a very excellent performance"... LOL... maybe some need to contradict others to show their own superiority? That is sad
The composer wrote this for his own young women students at St. Paul's School in London. I love the playing and the sonority and will listen many times more here in Wisconsin, USA.
Hi Bill, Agreed! These young women are very talented and clearly devote a lot of time to dedicated practice. I am happy for them (and for me!) that You Tube makes it possible for people beyond the concert hall to hear them perform.
I have definitely lost count of how many times I've watched this performance. It was immensely helpful in my own preparation of the second violin part, but just as art, this is so, so beautiful.
What a fantastic performance of a great piece of music. I hope some day you all play before thousands! It almost makes me want to sign up for an English women's college to hear such music played and developed. Bravo, Brava, Bravissimo!
I loved it! I haven't heard this in years, what a treat! Love how smooth the "irish washerwoman" passed from section to section and the lovely violas when they had it against the violin greensleves :D Woohoo!
Fantastic conductor & a very brilliant & dexterous Orchestra. I'd like to see this group perform more often or at least post more videos. Amazing talent in Poland! Great soloist on the Intermezzo.
@@andrewjessop3140 You forget I said "for students". Anyway, some of the solo violin parts in the second movement shows technical skill. I know this suite well, and I hear no obvious mistakes in performance. After all, Holst wrote this suite for students.
The St. Paul's Suite was named for the St. Paul's School in England where Holst was the music director for many years. The last movement "The Dargeson" was arranged from the "Fantasia on the Dargeson" from the "Second Suite for Military Band" which has memorably been described as "The Irish Washerwoman meets Greensleeves".

Yep! The Dargason is actually a traditional English dance. I saw a group perform the Second Suite in F last night and it made me think of how I played this piece a few years ago. I love Holst.
Most conductors are male as music was, like any other job, mostly for males. And since not many years ago there were very few women who studied music. It's a pitty although it's the truth. But, fotunately, nowadays there are many more.

I played this piece years ago, and hearing it again fills me with so much love and joy. This is a very excellent performance.

Good for you! I was about to post about this being written for St. Paul's Girls' School.
I live in Mequon, WI, and my high school chamber orchestra is playing this piece in November
greetings from st. paul haha
@@MrDanamp And isn't this the one they learnt on their own, as a kind of present for him?
Such wondertul young musicians! Bravo!
What an astonishingly beautiful performance. Thank you for this post.

What a wonderful performance!! I hope the audience was sleepy because it deserved so much more applause. *clap**clap**clap**clap**clap*!

I mean to be fair, there weren’t many people in the audience to begin with.
That is enthusiastic applause. ! Different country :-)

Such beautiful girls and they play wonderfully.

Wspaniałe wykonanie ! :) Najlepszy wystep jaki widzialam !
Very nice, wonderful music, and a great performance, once again you are all so amazing, thanks for sharing your wonderful talent
Now this is impressive string playing for students!
I mean kind of, but in reality, this isn't inherently impressive technical ability, it's more musical and interpretational.

Great that the Hells Angels/Mafia kept that crowd in check...could see another Altamont coming on
The last movement is the best, by far.

does anyone know the exact speed of this music? I'm playing it with my orchestra and I can't figure it out
100? That's what my orchestra plays it at.
I meant 115

Whats wheird is that no one claps after jig.. a bit wierd.
thats classic-it is normal to clap only! at the end -so the musicians can fokus to their hard work

Very beautiful performance 👍👏👏Is it a women's orchestra? It would have been great to have a woman conductor! 😁😊
真希望我在場...........
Nobody gonna mention the flat right at the end? That trill was way off!
Stefanwolf1 not trying to complain, but it’s not all about how well they did it. And I’m sure Adam Warren was trying to help them improve
Y all girls orchestra with male director😟😟
Just like Holst himself...
Most conductors are male as music was, like any other job, mostly for males. And since not many years ago there were very few women who studied music. It's a pitty although it's the truth. But, fotunately, nowadays there are many more.
my guess is that the orchestra belongs to an all girls school
The song was originally for an all girl orchestra.
Don't boys play music in Poland?
Una gran sinfonía y mu admirable ser interpretada por un orquesta de mujeres !! Gran Sonoridad :)
