This is exactly why the game isn't popular, the combo system is garbage. I've never played a game where you can be targeted when you are on the ground which is bullshit btw, the amount of times ive died to some random infinite combo that was started out of a random stray hit that barely hit me, ESPECIALLY OUTSIDE OF SOLOS. If they want this game to be popular it needs to feel intuitive, if you're on the ground you should NOT be targeted. The combo should end the moment you fall. The combos should be the same for everyone regardless of the ping. There should be a hit-limit on how many times u can get hit before falling on the ground. I dont understand why they can't add such a simple mechanic that COULD actually make the game more mainstream. I have 600 hours in this game and every day im on the verge of quitting due to how fucking shit these combos feel to both try to do or be hit by. I've played mmos since 2005 , not one of them had such a dumb combo system. If they adjusted this, the game would rise in popularity

I've come to enjoy the nature of the game, the constant high risk high reward + luck factor makes a high skill game still have unpredictability, because the fights and combat system are so dynamic. And soon they are introducing a new universal combo-breaker mechanic for everyone to have all the time, they are just working to ensure they get it right when it goes live

This game for me has the best waifus in existence and its catering to all my specific fetishes and i was hyped for it on release but i quit cus i disagree with the unpredictability and stuff. Ima console controller player the only thing I had to change was for the (GRAPPLE KATANA COMBO) instead of the regular uppercut I have to USE THE SLIDING UPPERCUT ON KATANA to get the grapple bump high enough. Since ps release, biggest issue I seem to run into is the fluidity on PS controller of crouch. Set as L3 it never feels consistent and I wind up sliding more often than anything. I have tried other configs but nothing feels better, having dodge on L3 causes more issues. (Using warrior config but with h on L1 and V on R1)
I play on Pc and started on the dualsense controller as well and I switched to mouse and keyboard for that exact issue. Having to crouch with the L3 is just so inconsistent compared to just pressing the designated crouch button that can literally do nothing else lol smh
I’m lucky if I get the parry timing correctly on a showdown match, let alone trying to play ranked with Astral and Asuras when I’m only gold LOL. But it’s mainly due to the ping issue. I swear it fluctuates wildly. There are days where it feels like I’m flowing so well and the reaction of my character is so perfect and other times, there’ll be lag or low ping, my screen flickers and I’m downed and waiting for a rescue.
its a little hard to get the vertical off but other than that this is very nice and I will definitely practice, hopefully my combos are up to par to yours

Note! As he explained, there is definitely a DI difference between mnk and controller. It's much more difficult trying to string advanced combos on controller. It's not impossible, just crazy difficult if you're up for the challenge. I played this game on a paddled controller for a year. Its still difficult,but it's much easier than no paddles
well after watching this vid i clearly sure what this game a way more complicated than "for honor". Here you need atleast master few weapons to know how they works and then try learn some combos for huge amount of damage.

I'm not trying to say every player with high ping is purposefully doing so with malicious intent, but this footage was from a tournament, where I was rubberbanded into an untrue combo. There are plenty of situations where players are forced to have high ping, but whether intentional or not, there comes a point when the ping is abusive to everyone else's gameplay experience simply by being high.
Great combo guide... But I wasn't able to hit the ground grappling combo at the end with any weapon (he rolls away when i charge blue focus & release). While juggling, I pressed grapple button & then long pressed horz directly but that blue focus is hitting enemy as he dodges away
do you need grappling speed to be able to grapple combo? because I cannot do this because of my slow grappling, but may be my fluctuating fps, as I use an older pc.

This is an insanely helpful video and explains why I had such a hard time getting combos done, i rarely got to do them correctly in training, and it was all because of the DI during grapple extensions etc., which i basically never did and the times i managed to do the combo was probably because I did them accidentally. I have a much better understanding of combos and why certain inputs are so vital, thanks a lot for this video! Hopefully this can lower the skill floor for some people to make the game more accessible!
Yes, you have what is considered to be "high ping" and it will definitely affect your combos. Your DI timings and attack timings will vary vastly from someone on ping like mine (30ms) and you will be able to do some combos that are not possible on ping like mine.
why does my free training I get a blue dot on my target that is very hard to get out of, it seems like my auto lock is really strong and I dont see the white circle

Yea I just spent 8 hours trying to do a simple grapple katana combo. I'm uninstalling almost broke my controller. I stg Melee aim assists doesn't have strong weak type shit. They only have ranged aim assist settings. Looks crazy doing juggle combos but I can't find the aim assist setting for my life idk if it's cuz I don't have a mnk plugged in or something because I'm an xbox player and I truly give up.

only a few weapons have golden focus attacks, with nunchcuks you have to build stacks of "biding fury" by taking damage or parrying an opponent (the bar in the middle of the screen fills with yellow segments when using nunchucks), then spend them with a stage 2 charged Vertical. Hope this helps!
@@PsyclopsKD I played a game with Tarka today and ended up with legendary nunchucks and found a golden soul gem to enhance them. Charged up a golden focus and absolutely mutilated the last person standing and won. Very satisfying 👏🏾

Extended combos are rarely used in the highest skill play - optimal combos are fast and efficient, not infinite juggling haha it is just fun to do

This (uppercut air stunlock) kind of cancels the whole combat system of the game. Easily the worst part of the game and should be fixed.

Toothpicking let's you get an extra attack before starting a combo, so it's just for a little more damage

How do I activate golden focus on my weapon combos? I've seen it done with spear and staff but idk how to trigger it on a great sword or nunchucks.
only a few weapons have golden focus attacks, with nunchcuks you have to build stacks of "biding fury" by taking damage or parrying an opponent (the bar in the middle of the screen fills with yellow segments when using nunchucks), then spend them with a stage 2 charged Vertical. Hope this helps!

@@PsyclopsKD I played a game with Tarka today and ended up with legendary nunchucks and found a golden soul gem to enhance them. Charged up a golden focus and absolutely mutilated the last person standing and won. Very satisfying 👏🏾

question, why set controller aim assist on weak instead of strong?
The difference is not very noticeable, but I've always preferred weak because it feels like I have a little more control

Question: are the sliding horizontals worth using? I noticed the katana slide horizontal guarantees an uppercut, as well as the longsword sliding horiontal. Should I implement these in my combos or am I better off sticking to the default combo starters?
Not sure about the sliding horiz on longsword but the sliding horiz on katana can be implemented, I've seen people use it before!
Ok thanks. I'll use those as mixups then. The only downside is that they can't be half charged, so it's hard to gain priority with them.
