Painting Gotrek Pt. 4 - How to paint red hair & beards - Miniature painting tutorial

- Kia Ora! This week we've got Gotrek back on the painting table. He's getting a queer eye treatment with some luscious red locks and beard work.
Gotrek's beard is part of his iconic dwarf slayer look, and today we're painting it up in a deep red, all the way up to orange. This guide is easy to follow, no difficult blends involved, just simple layers. As usual i'm using the Games Workshop Citadel paint range in my example, but i've included annotations on what colours you could looks for in your preferred range.
You can use this mini painting tutorial on any of your slayers, fyreslayers for Age of Sigmar, or anything you wanna give some dramatic red hair to! Hell even some Drukhari from Warhammer 40k would look great with this hair. Hell, EVEN some ginger haired orks!

One thing I love about videos like this is that I have a chart that converts GW and Vallejo paints to Army Painter counterparts. So even though I use Army painter, I can still follow along.

LuckyFractal thanks mate! Well I used to go to the French art store till it closed down. But now Kapiti Hobbies is my go to for brushes, the DAS sable brushes. Nice and cheap, decent quality for what you pay
This is a great color scheme for this model! I noticed the base is different and looks much better imo than the GW base. Where did you get it?
Thanks so much mate! It is actually the GW base but I went for the smaller version of it
Can you talk us through your pallet setup?
Colin Cullinane it’s a Tupperware lid, with some kitchen sponge cut to fit inside it, water in the lid, enough to soak, then a piece of baking paper on top, shiny side up (or down, I can’t quite remember and I often forget and it’s usually fine haha)

Citadel black spray I believe, followed by a light spray of white

Thanks! These are DAS red sable brushes, cheap but quite decent!
