  • Kubota Z231 1 year review, with 138 hrs on the clock. This unit met and exceeded our expectations for the price point of this unit. As Warren Buffet says, “Price is what you Pay, Value is what you Get”.
Paying to little or to much does not mean value. As a proud Dutchman I can say that my thoughts on spending money is this, “I enjoy spending money but HATE wasting IT”
Cheating out or overpaying is a crime in this Dutchman’s eyes. So I do due diligence, avoid impulse buying, or brand loyalty, and understand what I am going to be using the product for and how often! Something that just sits around 90% of time falls into the waste category and is better rented when needed.
I needed a mower to mow my 1 plus acre lawn, with a bit of a slope, as well we started a lawn care company and wanted a mower that fit into residential back yards, but could still handle larger estate lawns when required. With a bad back, decent suspension was required. Durability and service ability we key components to our decision. And one thing I did learn from a salesman who sold several different brands that in the case of starting a lawn care company, you will likely want to upgrade in few years and most models have next to no trade in value.
So I found the Kubota Z231 met or exceeded that list. With one year and 138 hrs it has not at this point been a let down.
Hope you enjoy this video, truly hope it helps in your search.

Messick's did a video where they hinted at telling a customer that the parts they were looking for would be difficult to find. Was a Chinese mower named "Koboto". Am looking at other Kubota equipment, just not in the market for a mower. Quality equipment in one line usually means quality equipment in another. Hope you get back to making videos as the firewood processor is what I'm really interested in.

Dave, have you noticed that it has trouble sucking up leaves? Curious as I just picked up the new model for 23 and first time out seemed like it was shooting more leaves out of the deck than was sucking up. Kinda frustrating. Lmk what your experience has been. Thanks

Yes, I do find that you can only pick up a light amount of leaves, otherewise like you said it shoots more leaves out the bottom. And even if does suck up the leaves they do not get mulched well and very quickly fills the bags. So I do feel your frustration during fall clean ups.
