Eugene absolutely HACKED the system because he used a canvas with similar color scheme as the intended painting and therefore did not have to fill in the canvas completely and gives it the illusion of a completed painting! This inspired me... especially the high part

The painting he did start with had some of the same colors used in the Bob Ross painting. It essentially acted as an underpainting, which is essentially a base layer for other colors of paint and usually painted in one color that goes along with your planned color scheme. The underpainting made the colors stand out more, have more dimension to them, and just look more put together!
Eugene: doesn't have an actual blank canvas, doesn't prime, doesn't follow instructions, doesn't use the right colors, STILL MAKES A F*CKING MASTERPIECE WTF?!

Honestly? Even though Eugene's came out the best, I like Keith and Ned's a lot! Keith ended up with a more "impressionist" version with that really dope swirly textured sky, and Ned's had a beautiful color scheme with excellent contrast. I thought all three were really nice in their own right
@Erin Black lol you might be surprised! I like to go to thrift shops or even tjmax to buy mass production canvases to paint over. They are sometimes WAY cheaper than buying empty canvases. Just be careful not to paint over an old masterpiece that someone donated to the local Goodwill.

I know he did it cause he didn’t have anything else to paint on but that is a legit technique, sometimes it’s easier if there already is color on the canvas. And because the background colors were like bluish and greens it helped “fill out” his painting! But also he’s just a good fricking artist, also the weed probably helped because relaxed painters paint better🤣
Keiths painting still looks good for a first timer for me because I think if I tried doing that mine will literally just look like a random brushed colors in canvas 😂

Actually, the texture and shapes created from the excess paint (which he thought ruined it completely) made it quite interesting and complex. All about perspective with art anyways. They all did great in their own unique way, and that’s what made this so cool to watch.
Not trying often is what leads to the heat art. I can think about what I want to draw for hours, and my twenty minute sketches look better. Eugene figured this out ages ago, that’s the secret to his success 😂

yeah same. he seems so frustrated that he couldnt get it looking like what Bob Ross made, but i dont think anyone can even get close to Bob's painting first try _without_ some sort of artistic background. honestly, for someone who doesnt paint, Keith did a great job.
Actually, the texture and shapes created from the excess paint (which he thought ruined it completely) made it quite interesting and complex. All about perspective with art anyways. They all did great in their own unique way, and that’s what made this so cool to watch.
