The way to justify this car is not to think of it as a BEV but an ICE cross over that gives 16 km per liter in city driving with 30% more power than a yaris cross. I will never believe the Kicks is or could be a quiet car because it is undeniably entry level with ho-hum fit and finish and plastic trim quality. Squeaks, and lots of them, are to be expected. Road noise, tire noise actually get heavily amplified. So let’s stop kidding ourselves about this being a quiet car.
Since its classified as an EV. You can essentially park it in EV designated parking slots in Malls right? ( The ones with chargers ) Knowing that you dont need the charger just the parking slot.
I mean you can, but like it doesn't have a charger so it kinda defeats the purpose and by that you take up space for an actual EV which most likely would need charging. As someone who owns a Kicks its tempting especially if the parking is full, but I just suck it up and be like, real EV owners would need this more than I do. I'll just stick to the regular parking spots or the PWD parking since I am a PWD.

It's inability to do plug-in charging is the only downside this car has. I have the new Sealion 6 that can do more or less 1~2km per %. To be able to charge for free or at your home for 90% of the driving you will do daily is so convenient and will save you fuel in the long run. And that's not counting the blistering list of features you get on top of that.
The sealion 6 is a parallel hev whereas the kicks is a series hev. For the kicks to have a plugin option it must have a minimum 12kwh battery size to accommodate plugin charging. This would translate to higher cost which would defeat the purpose of nissan's target and the e powers you see wouldnt be priced competitively today in global markets Phevs generally are as expensive already as a full ev/bev. One of the exception being the sealion 6, ac mobility did admit that their margins are not big given their intention to transition the market to bevs hence why sealion 6 is priced very competitively. If you notice erevs/revs mostly in China are priced at a minimum $35k equivalent. And as mentioned most phevs priced at the price of a bev whereas the sealion 6 being an outlier

Being a hybrid - there r 2 systems to maintain; ICE n Electric=how is the aspect of maintenance, especially when things get old.I understand parts for ICE is much cheaper vs hybrid of the same model =being 2.3X the cost due to difference of electric voltage=eg starter motor.

Its a hybrid. Hev. Not a mild hybrid. A mild hybrid cannot propel the car alone via electric. Whereas a hev/phev can propel the car alone via electric Bev- full electric battery powered only regardless wherever the battery sources it powers via plugin

While the engine of the kicks/e power acts as a generator. It is connected to the inverter that sends out power either to the battery or electric motor. And the engine/generator only turning on when necessary

With all due respect You guys give a great presentation. BUT it still has a gas engine and burns gas and creates CO2!!! It could have a plug in and give people the choice where to charge it. It doesn't and it is proof that NISSAN does not understand what Climate Change is! Meanwhile this past week everyday in Tokyo has been 10 degrees above average. The last 3 months have been terribly hot. The last 4 summers too. Japanese car makers NEED to take responsibility for the cars they make!!!!!!!

The engine only acts to charge the batteries, unlike hybrids from other brands where the engine and the batteries provide power together.
Don't worry because Japan is trying their best to push hydrogen technology. Good luck to them.

Its a hybrid. Hev. Not a mild hybrid. A mild hybrid cannot propel the car alone via electric. Whereas a hev/phev can propel the car alone via electric
