hey fam bam, Asia has a really valid point with buying high quality sunglasses - it's a long term investment in your eye health. UV exposure causes all kinds of stuff like cataracts and blindness which will cost more in the long term, both money and quality of life. I know it's expensive - if you (or your parents) have health insurance, I know some allow you to claim sunglasses for free or heavily discounted from certain stores. If your budget allows for it, try and get polarised sunglasses - they provide even better protection
plausibleliar this is partially true, but also keep in mind that the brand Luxotica owns Ray Bans and Oakleys, but produces them the exact same way as they produce no name brands at Target and such that they also own. Ray Bans are a waste of your money. I'm not saying this because I'm one of those people who hates luxury items or is jealous. I'm also not going to judge anybody if they do know this, and choose to still buy them. Just thought everyone should know or might even want to research it more.
Asia Jackson yep, totally understand that. Like I said, I don't judge people on what brands they buy. I even do that sometimes too and I'm pretty cheap XD
glad to know im not the only one who feels this way! id rather invest and pay for something i like than compromise and get something im just mehh about.
dehhbs Right that's honestly the best mentality for life too. Like would you settle on love or life choices? No get what you really want that's what makes you live instead of just surviving
I actually got a dark brown crossbody/shoulder leather Fossil bag for literally $10 at a Goodwill 2 years ago and it's held up SUPER well that I use for my everyday bag. Plus, who knows how long someone had it before I did? If you have the patience, some brands that aren't considered "luxury" are still really good options if they're good quality and can last you a long time. My motto? Quality > Name ... Which is not to say luxury brands aren't good quality, but they aren't the only ones.
So on point! I realized a few years ago when I went more minimalist that with less stuff at ($5-$15) INCLUDING starbucks...I could then splurge occasionally on quality and classic pieces! It adds up so fast...no more Target for me when it comes to frivolous unnecessary items....I know, that store use to suck me in.
Okay you are literally the most genuinely beautiful person oh my god like people are like shy and hidden on RUclips but you literally are your true self and I love that 😢😢😢😢
I second the staple jewellery point; every Christmas since 2015, my parents buy me new gold pieces and they elevate the simplest of outfits! and to those who can't afford designer goods (myself included!), i feel like the best thing to do is buy the best quality you can afford and then just look after them as best as possible! ZARA are great for affordable, expensive looking things that just need some TLC to look good for ages!
Ive been watching 3 of your videos, and i love the way you advice your audience and i realize what i should consider when shopping -simple, practical and good quality items are a must!
Always invest in pieces you absolutely adore, couldn't agree more with you there! It may be tideous having to wait and save up or just waiting until you find something you love but it's so worth it. I unfortunately am very picky when it comes to materialistic items but when I find something I love I know it's going to last me for years and I won't get bored of it until the far future..
honestly this is really good advise sometimes we get so caught up with trying get more for our buck but don't really pay attention that at the end of the day when we buy things we forget who we buying for like if its for yourself and here u buying cheep stuff that don't last u and buying more than what u need and at the end all that money gone down the dump when u could save it to buy something worth buying ! Keep in mind ur worth ur money!! we all are any ways hope this makes sense lol love the video tho and trust me I've been there too 😸
Also I just want to say thanks bc im looking for a work bag rn and this gave me the willpower to resist making a purchase that Im not completely in love with, just bc of the designer, its on sale, or the cheaper price. 👌 I'm rlly trying to be better about being an intentional consumer.
💜 The first video I ever clicked on was ur 'basic wardrobe stables video'(or something like that) n I haven't stopped watching since. buying🛍️ basics for my wardrobe has given me life😎💁. Also am a bit (alot) of a tomboy so u really help me figure out this dressing up thing.....
I understand the consumer aspect, it's just a lot to shell out at one time. I have trouble purchasing anything over 60$ haha. But this was very informative :)
I bought my sunglasses just in basic market, cause i realy loved them. They were 16€, and now its two years and im super excited about them. Still looking brand new and i still love them.
I been watching ur videos because as young as u are seems like u know everything about fashion, i also love the way u talk and explains stuff, and i found out only now that u are half filipino and im so happy to know that. ❤️ so i subbed.. keep up the good work so proud of you! ❤️
Hoy! Mare! Where'd you get your necklace from tho?? I've literally been clicking around your fashion-y vids to see if you mention where it's from but don't see anything. 😭
I love these tips! And I'm starting to notice that you love using an 'strayan accent when sharing stuff in the description box 😂 I recently thought that I should invest in better quality sunnies rather than using ones that don't even have guaranteed UV protection and omg as someone that wears prescription glasses, buying ones with detachable shades saved me a tonne of cash it was also covered by my healthcare funds because I got it done at the optometrist and I literally only paid AUD$19 out of my pocket for a minimal pair of glasses and one with detachable shades so yeah thats an option that glasses wearers could try out 😁😁
Definitely agree on the everyday bag and wallet/cardholder. I had a go-to lotus necklace (that Michelle Phan had a collab with a company) but I lost it :( as for rings I only have 1 that my mom gave me for my 15th birthday since I didn't want a quincerñera
I got a great DKNY leather wallet that fills all my wallet needs and I'm in loooove with it, and I love feeling like I'll never need another wallet because it's such good quality. I just need a cardholder now for those days a full wallet isn't necessary.
One accessory piece that I'm obsessed with and that you missed are watches. I hate jewellery but love wearing watches. I have two - one for a more everyday look and one that looks a bit more glam
yes you can!! get prescription on them :) they will cost more than normal sunglasses but at least you'll be able to see and have your eyes protected at the same time
Thanks for the helpful tips! I can finally donate the hoard of wallets and bags that I will never use again 😅. Investing in time less pieces are major 🔑.
I would buy sunglases online. There much more cheap there. You can try them on in the store if you really want to. They sell the same sunglases for up to half of the store price online. I bought my two raybans there and each one was only 130 dollars.
When you invest in items that you absolutely love you will ideally not want more than you need. But that’s the key word isn’t it, need? Do I need multiple card holders but will I say no if I love it? I cannot not. It’s so bad and I’m working on it but I truly agree. 😅
Aaliyah Paris the American dollar is worth more than the cdn btw.. I find it so hard to shop in America...the prices look cheap but when you change it to cdn, it's way more expensive
Alicia P. I think everyone knows the American dollar is worth more?, I'm just talking about the difference between the American and Canadian bills. American bills are paper :p.
You can buy leather items that are not branded (wallets cars holders jackets vests sacs) they last as long and are not that expensive as the branded ones :)
i think this is a really great video. people should know that having good quality stuff actually would prevent global warming. long lasting, good quality stuff is always not cheap but worth it.
I love this video! That said, I don't think buying luxury sunglasses is worth it, personally. I think you should get one good pair for like $15-20. Why? Because I have lost so many sunglasses over the years! I would be devastated to lose an expensive pair of sunglasses!
Im fortunate to live In Seattle, where we get sun 3 times a year. Soo I get to save my money on sunglasses 😄! lol But investing in higher quality products is good when it comes to certain things.
I don't know if anyone will read this, put when buying polarize glasses, check them against a screen, it can be your phone. If the color change while you rotate the glasses, they are polarized, if not, they aren't

also, Asia, love your videos :) they hit that sweet balance between informative and entertaining 👌
I second that^^

plausibleliar for me it's a little harder since I have glasses and I would need to buy a new pair every time my sight weakens again :/
its called luxury for a reason, why are there some people hating
glad to know im not the only one who feels this way! id rather invest and pay for something i like than compromise and get something im just mehh about.

I'm just here to say i particularly enjoy this type of your videos. They're just great, i don't even know why and which exactly, but they're. Thanks.

American money is so fragile 😂😢 - Canadian, can't relate bc our money is waterproof
Aaliyah Paris the American dollar is worth more than the cdn btw.. I find it so hard to shop in America...the prices look cheap but when you change it to cdn, it's way more expensive
Asia Jackson yeah our money is plastic 😇
Alicia P. I think everyone knows the American dollar is worth more?, I'm just talking about the difference between the American and Canadian bills. American bills are paper :p.
Aaliyah Paris you guys are awesome

Im fortunate to live In Seattle, where we get sun 3 times a year. Soo I get to save my money on sunglasses 😄! lol
