Over 18 years of virtually trouble free motoring .. Major repairs are ....One alternator , power steering swivel hose kit replacement and early this year a brake caliper . Everything else works fine and is original other than a few batteries , tyres and exhaust components ..SO RELIABLE...I also have a gorgeous FG XR6 . Wouldn't part with either of them and I'm not kidding , Great video ...

    I had an AU on dedicated LPG. Ford Australia could've survived in Australia with their dedicated LPG motors, I remember when they were making the FGs with LPi gas engines. Sadly, high power prices, green tape, red tape, blue tape & the popularity with the Mazda3 & the Hilux killed Ford Australia. Tradies in Sydney loved the Falcon utes, cheap on fuel, being LPG & you could get them in any carpark. Now with these jacked-up utes, you're limited with clearance.. Falcon utes could get in a 1.9m carpark, pickup truck utes needed 2.2m clearance carparks or higher.

    • @FULLBOAR
      @FULLBOAR  2 года назад +3

      Yeah I rekon it’s a shame. The falcon is probably safer, as they handle better and have a lower centre of gravity than all these jacked-up dual cabs. And in all honesty the falc is probably more practical. It’s just that everyone wants to be seen in their fancy lifted rangers, that will probably never be used in 4wd.

    After a few years driving a BA sedan, then a BF III wagon it felt like a fantastic blast from the past when the owner loaned me his AUII ex taxi and loved the feel of it.
    The four speed automatic matches way better with the smoother Intech over the powerful, thirsty and rougher running Barra.

      My heart sank when I heard my first Barra. After a Ford nails the NVH issues with the SOHC undersquare six, no mean feat, they trot out farm equipment under the hood again with the BA!! BF seemed to address that part but it still doesn't have quite the same charm as the SOHC sixes, and even the old 4.1 OHV EFIs from the 1980s.
      Torque and power got more peaky with the later Barras from the FG onward, kind of defeating the whole point of the large lazy six.
      The SOHC from the 3.9 from 1988, both multi point and single point injection, to the well sorted In tech, made the Ford Falcon note.
      It's in there with the Barra, but not as richly and homely feeling like the AU and before. You have the last of a breed. I could listen to a SOHC Falcon six revving at 1500 as an ASMR video!
