Why is this only for island hopping or coast crusing? With 6" draft I'd take her far offshore. I don't think it's the boat, but rather the captain that defines how far the boat could go. Hanse appears to be capable. The only thing I'd change on Hanse is a sailplan, opting for larger main and smaller jib. And no rudder based motor - this introduces more failure points to the rudder.
i like it. I'm not sure it is the perfect boat for me because i keep waffling on if i want to cross oceans or not. or.. let me be more clear... i want to cross oceans, I'm just scared of crossing oceans. but i think if i was saying in the Caribbean or the states, this one sounds perfect, i like the open cabins too.
Quick question, and please bear in mind I don’t have a sailboat but maybe 1 day, I live in NE Florida and live catamarans for their room and flat sailing, but at this time coastal and island hoping are my only objectives. Is sailing on a sailboat uncomfortable due to standing at an angle all the time vs standing vertical on a cat? For the cost of a decent cat, the value proposition with a monohull is so much better, thx, love your channel!
@@mikewalker1081 mono does not need to heel, especially the never post 2010 ish models, they can but it's not at all needed especially for just island hoping, no need to live your life at 45 degrees on the newer mono hulls, cats are nice but far far more expensive and not usually needed unless you plan on having a lot of people on your vessel
@@ChasingLatitudes thx bud, that was a quick response! Wife and I are divers, so having a small compressor on board would be essential, any problems with that? Your channel is great!
I would choose E motion for an add on in a 34 to 38 foot vessel. For some reason it's hard for me to accept cleaning the entire head every time I shower. And regularly showering is a habit I would prefer not to break.
Could you also talk about the difference in sails, like code 0,code D, geneker, spinnaker, this is all jargon to a non sailor like me. Also what’s the difference with swept back mast, double spreader rigs and the such.
Can’t wait to see your opinion on the new Hanse 460. Especially compared to other newer boats like Jeanneau and Benateau’s since it didn’t go with the 2 rudder design. It seems the hull shape differs as well.
Very nicely done. If I may, how about the best sailboats for learning (not a liveaboard)? Like the Macgregor 26s, D or X? :) Ok, I looked these up - north of $100k - yow.
Nice video! It seems to bounce more than a beneteau or jeneau…its trying to look like a beneteau or jeneau but not nailing that quality on comfort. Im wondering about the differences in hull design. But Im definitely no expert…
Hello, new to your channel. Great videos very informative. Every is done in great detail. I am in the used sailboat market and have found a 2002 Bavaria Ocean 42. Have you covered this boat type before in a video? I like this two head 2 room version.
I am sure I have as I am a big fan of Bavaria sailboats however I am not sure what video its in :( I dont think I have done a complete break down on the bavaria 42 but I am sure I have mentioned it as a great cruiser somewhere. You can pop on over to the members area through patreon and I would be happy to chit chat with you a little more in depth
Power rudder is a great idea, love the forward-thinking and innovation..I feel in the open ocean Keel would take the hit and save the rudder. Yes it's possible to lose it and you'd be screwed, I feel that would be rare event. I have to study the engineering specs and the structural Integrity of it all before deciding.
@@Markustempest hey brother I agree with you. But the keel will hit object first... never heard anything breaking a boat from behind .. safe sailing my friend.
Im incredibly curious about trailer sailing, it seems like a good budget option, I also like the idea of spending time on the foredeck but it seems like nothing under a 40 footer offers a wooden foredeck for some yoga or sunbathing or whatever
Great boat for small yacht club day sailing and club racing with that rudder e-drive motor. You only would need it for a few minutes to leave the dock and get to where you can raise the sales and visa versa when you are done. But I would not trust that electric motor for any kind of distance. Electric is just not ready for prime time yet. The range just isn't there. And please don't bring up Uma on how it is so great. No it isn't. Not yet. I do hope it will be one day and I will convert when it is. I don't hate electric. I'm a fan. But I am also realisitc. And for $14K you can used for a lot of other things to make the sailing adventure better. Like buying a bigger boat. This boat is a day sailor in my book. All be it a very nice and comfortable one.
Order her lol. .. that means she is out of my price range.. 4:09 hey look that guy is just shredding up for an old guy he can really shred it ... oh look that is Chris man his neighbors are not looking happy 🤣🤣🤣
Thanks Chris for showing me a make that I didn't know about. Love the open concept. The E-motion drive must make docking easier. Nice little boat.

Cute little boat ... not really sold on the e-motion drive ... another expensive thing to break
I LOVE IT! I like the aesthetic. I like the interior too. It's not too luxurious; it's not to minimalist; it's just right... :)
Any thoughts on a beneteau 373 or a Catalina 387? Looking for a mid size inter-coastal and Bahamas boat max draft 5 ft
Good little review. Adding list prices would help. Thanks for all the content!!
I normally do and I completely forgot, I apologize, they can be had for around 65k

I wonder if you can get the emotion plus the 14 hp diesel to run a generator and have basically a hybrid.?

Rather lose my rudder than my keel tbh

10' Beam will not be trailerable..
I like simple that rudder drive seems like it would be too difficult to repair if needed
Fair enough
Definitely a cool boat though!
I like that boat.
Christopher, do you have a podcast? I think you’d make a nice podcast.

6ft draft for an Island hopper ? Seems a little much
6 or less, ideally under 5
