- Peritoneal cancer is a rare and aggressive cancer. It is sometimes called the "silent killer" because it usually does not cause symptoms until it is in advanced stages. But there is hope. It is possible to treat.
Although it is rare, it is sometimes seen as early as 25 years old.
Symptoms include pain in the abdomen, pelvic area, and back.
If you experience any of these symptoms, see your doctor as soon as possible. September is Peritoneal Cancer Awareness Month. If you have any questions or concerns about this video, please comment below.

My mother has had peritoneal cancer for about 7 years. The only thing offered was chemotherapy. Has had it twice. No other tx. has been offered, and she is suffering from recurrent ascitis, requiring paracentesis every few months. I can't believe no one wanted to do surgery in a relatively healthy woman of 86, with no other problem, but peripheral neuropathy. She continues to suffer...and no one wants to operate.
Ohh. At what stage was peritoneal cancer detected?
What stage was cancer?

May I know which exactly chemo she is getting. Is it primary cancer or metastases.
