      This put the biggest smile on my face, thank you so much for watching and leaving this kind comment. I wanted this podcast to be exactly that - talking to a friend with diabetes who gets it, and can go into detail about something that maybe you didn't know!

    Love you channell! I've been doing a lot of research on non communicable diseases and promotion of health for me and my aging parents. On a side note: I also love that you have many glass frames who all look fabulous!

    If food isn’t the cause, what is? Also what are your thoughts on all the people who reversed their type 2 with the carnivore diet?

    • @TheHangryWoman
      @TheHangryWoman  3 месяца назад +1

      In type 1 - beta cell destruction.
      In type 2 - insulin resistance.
      In gestational diabetes - hormonal changes.
      Reversal implies that diabetes won’t come back. Carnivore diets put diabetes into remission, the moment that you re-introduce an excess of carbohydrates, the same insulin resistance comes back.
      Food, however is a factor of diabetes like genetics and environment. It is not a root cause. If it were, every person who ate carb-rich foods would have diabetes. But that’s not the link we see.

      @@TheHangryWoman I suppose my follow up question to insulin resistance being the cause of type 2 - what causes insulin resistance?
      I've heard that insulin resistance is more of a 'construct' (you don't directly measure it), but elevated blood glucose level is the real measured pathology. And that these elevated blood glucose level are a result of excess carb intake (though also influenced by genetic predispositions, i.e. how sensitive one is to these carbs).
      So if people who eat 0 carbs don't get diabetes, and people who eat more carbs than their genetics can handle do, then couldn't carbs could be seen as the root cause?
      Look forward to your response, this topic interests me a lot.
