The president was unable to take the Marine One helicopter convoy to the airport instead taking the motorcade choosing the most unlikely and longest route to Zurich Airport in order to avoid the most direct route (highway A3) which has a lot of tunnels and overpasses that pose a big security risk and hinders the Hi-Tech technologies of the defense department which watch and defend from the sky...

Interesting - the b/u plane using call sign SAM 45 (Special Air Mission 45, with the reference to Trump as 45th POTUS). Usually this would be SAM 28000 which is the plane's tail number.

in 2003 i worked in a nursery that was located near the end of the Wilmington, NC ILM airport. Air Force One and it's counterparts would practice touch and go maneuvers there every once in a while. I swear those guys flew low enough over the nursery that you could almost count the rivets on the plane and talk about loud. After the first time, i started carrying ear plugs with me just in case they came back (which they did several times). Once they were escorted by fighters. It was like my own personal air show. lol
Wilmington International Airport Director Jon Rosborough says ILM is one of three airports in the country where Air Force One visits to practice what's called touch and goes, where the wheels briefly touch the runway then take off again.
Pilots need their practice and the weather, location and length of the runway make ILM ideal for the drill.
Rosborough says Air Force Two, the Vice President's plane, also comes to Wilmington for practice.
Rosborough says the drills he likens to a mini air show last about 20 minutes and never disrupt scheduled flights.

it's all based on it security risk analysis of the Secret Service who is also in the control tower a month before the event and has a very good feeling for the situation

Beside what you wrote, it’s also the decoy. Just like there are several helicopters flying together, like Marine One or Blackhawk one.
SAM stands for special air mission and that is the designation it is given when the President isn't flying on board. When the president is on board it's designation is then air force one.
SAM 45 is simply the official back up plane in case the primary aircraft has a mechanical problem that can’t be repaired prior to the scheduled flight time departure. The President can not be delayed indefinitely due to an aircraft issue, it ruins his entire schedule and for everyone who needs to see him at a certain time. Also yes, it can be utilized to carry more passengers traveling with the President’s entourage than the one plane can hold. That is a rarity though.

That is because laws, regulations or whatever can dictate that such action be taken by airports in thd united states and that foreign countries don't have to follow such procedures.
Actually one of the requests by the Sectret Service was to freeze all traffic and clear all observation spots around and in Kloten airport.

All over seas trips both 747 are used. 90% of the United States trips they use just one plan.

You mean 2 Boeing VC-25. Air Force One is not a plane but a call sign. There's always 2 when the POTUS travels anywhere. Oftentimes you don't see the other one as it lands on a nearby airport or air field not known to public. Same as there's always 2 cars and 2 Marine Sikorsky VH-3D Sea King helicopters.

I'll bet those words are rarely spoken. Usually aircraft traffic, both on the ground and in the air, is completely stopped for miles while AF1 is on the move.
yes however the departure was delayed by 2 hours placing it in the middle of rush-hour arrivals so they have to wait about 7 minutes for clearance to take off in order to ensure enough space for security

@@kulaak-krii Switzerland is a very tightly controlled and therefore safe country. Police even checked me while waiting to make this video in the parking house which is too far away to be a threat but could have been a spotter due to the radio in my ear...

One's a backup in case the primary jet has a mechanical issue. Just ensures that the President keeps moving and isn't stuck on the ground. Makes for a tempting target to the wrong people.
