I feel like I've finally grown *into* Glossier. I'm on the back end of 29, and finally age/retinoids have gotten me from oily and acne ridden to normal skin that I like the look of more than any foundation. Im not going out to parties, I'm teaching a classroom of 3 year olds. I just want makeup i can slap on with my hands that looks like my own skin and features but matches my body and enhances things just a smidge. Glossier has hit all those marks for me.
Kackie, I’m convinced you’re in your prime. 😆❤️😘 You look glorious, your knowledge and expertise is vast, and you’ve maintained trust and integrity on your channel. Sending you love, gratitude, and high fives.
I have 5 girls in my life, two daughters and 3 granddaughters the amount of piercings, hair dyes, and different personalities is amazing lol. From Emo to girly , girl this life is more than I ever dreamed. Everyone is so different and amazing in their own right.
All none-makeup related comments: Thanks for sharing your playlist! Our tastes overlap in a lot of places. I randomly got my septum pierced just a couple months ago (at the ripe old age of FORTY-SIX) because I feeling angry about something (Aries rising much?). I opted for a gold ring, and even though it was much more expensive than the standard stainless steel, I love it. It's subtle, easy, hassle-free adornment that makes me feel beautiful every day.
I am SO EXCITED for the potential fjords cheek color collaboration, the coral wasn't for me but my god, I would kill for a Kackie Running through the Fjords blush
I saw Andrew Bird a few months ago and they had this like double phonograph spinning behind the band and this cool light play with shadows, really cool and different. And the music was amazing. He wasted none of the audience's time and just played as many songs as he could fit in. Lots of whistling 😙 I played a few songs to my grandad before we left because he just got an alexa and he loved the jazzy vibes and the whistling
I wanted to dye my hair purple with Kool-aid when I was in high school in the 80's. My mom wouldn't let me, so I started doing it in my mid 40's! I'm 53 and still have vividly colored hair!
I love seeing all the literal blue haired old ladies at my farmers market, followed by purple then peach for most popular shades. My hair is black, and I could never “casually” color my hair. It’s finally starting to go white (no pigments given, white), and I’m plotting all the shades I’ll try when the time is right!
Glossier stretch concealer was a product that didn't look or feel skincarey on my face. It appeared chalky, made my skin look dull, was in no way hydrating or moisturizing, then finally had no undertones or saturations that worked well for me. You could see my now aging pores. Been waiting for reviews of the foundation, thinking it might present as an option, but nope, it has a castor oil derivative, and everything looks just as saturated as the previous incarnation of concealer. Sadly, that FF black lip balm has a castor oil derivative as well, so I'll have to pass it up. Aw well, it all looked lovely on you at least! Thanks, Kackie.
What I did to stretch (small town, no stores to buy jewelry and no money like any kid) was wrap the plugs that fit with Teflon tape from the hardware store, a couple wraps every few days. Not saying it’s the best idea but…it’s a thing you can do that works 👀
I bought Light 2 as someone who usually uses neutral foundations, and it was so orange! I ended up trying a sample of Light 1 and it was better though I decided to go with another foundation. I've been buying Glossier since it came out, and I still really like what they make though I went through a time where I wasn't as interested. I like the simplicity of their products.
I'm in the exact same boat! I am glad they've expanded their shade range, but the lighter shades are definitely lacking in true neutral or cooler undertones. I would think that L2 had a yellow/olive undertone. I bought it online and then went to my local Sephora to look for a better color match...both the associates and I oddly found L2 to be my closest match. I can blend it in carefully and have it look okay, but I'm not the high maintenance type (which is what originally drew me to Glossier).
I bought that coral blush and I LOVE IT. I also love the loose eyeshadow pigments - though RUclips seems to hate them. I put it on the back of my hand and then pick it up with a brush - gorgeous. I adore you, your honesty, and your humor. XO
I totally agree with everything you’re saying about your bodymods. I like being “the cool coworker” who’s like, visibly queer with my colorful hair and piercings and 00 ears. My appearance is something that I revel in my influence over. And yeah my piercings don’t get changed frequently at all; like I’ll hang some regular earrings from the bottom but my plugs are amethyst and stones are one of the few materials my ears will tolerate. My cartilege does fine with surgical steel but the lobes are more finicky 😅
So happy that you reviewed the Glossier foundation! I’m definitely going to hold off and get the Prada foundation. I’m super excited to see what your next masterpiece will be with Finding Ferdinand! By any chance, will you be reviewing the new blushes from Thrive? The shades Taffy and Kim look beautiful! I hope you have a great holiday weekend! Thank you for always being you!
I identified strongly with your talk about body mods, except at the time in my life when I started getting them done was when all my friends had a patchwork of tattoos. Four years later I almost never wear earrings but I lost count of my tattoos
I'm leaving the pre-fall fall weather of Pennsylvania behind to travel these coming weeks through Portugal! I'm so excited (this trip has been postponed from 2020) but MAN, I was reeeallly feeling the fall temps!
It’s 86° here in TX and I am loving it!!! 😊 I have been waiting for your opinion on the new Glossier foundation!!! I’ve been sick for the past couple weeks (migraine sick) so I’ve been binging You Tube. Thank you, friend!!!
I love it!!!! For me is tattoos... I am usually very "dress, pixie fairy of the woodland/forest"... and then bam some tattoos show up here and there (most are hidden) and people are like "oh she is not just the forest fairy" lol. Anyway, girl re your brain, you have to let all these heavenly bodies do their things... all the retrogrades, the turning direct, all the transitions (hello we are in fall in our area already)... full moon (a super one). All that energy is floating /permeating all inside you and around you).
My grandma (on my mom side got me interested in my looking like a fortune teller adorned gal). No piercings though. Pierced my ears at 40 for the first time 😸
Now that blush looks lovely! My go to foundation at the moment is the one from rms ind the weird twist up tube packaging. But it is so long lasting and high pigment and flexible, love it!
I ended buying 4 single Chanel shades during 3 different purchases. Apparently, I like them. I dap the doe foot on my finger and apply that May and the. Perfect with a brush or I dab a brush on the Doe foot. The colors and the sheer, so pretty.
The finding Ferdinand black balm reminds me of Clinique’s black honey except they’re the same cost lol if any has any experience with both of these can you leave a comparison?
A fellow of Montreal fan!!! Kevin Barnes is my idol and I got to meet him during a private meet & greet & he is thee coolest human!!! I love him & his music so much!!! ❤M
I feel like getting access to v89 and club downunder at fsu totally game changed my formative music journey in college. Like I only now appreciate how freaking cool that was
hahaha, omg, the ONE video of yours I've missed recently, and it's the one in which you answer my (dog) question 😅 I'm so glad you agree because we really thought we were losing our damn minds. The dogs be WILDING
Preface: I am hesitant to recommend medications to anyone based on personal anecdotal evidence because everyone's body is so different. Only you know what is right for you. I am on a low dose of Lexapro, but adding in Wellbutrin was the missing piece. This specific combination, for me, really made the ground underneath my feet stay still long enough for me to get my footing. Sometimes, a typical and a-typical med in tandem can strike the right balance. It might be worth looking into.
Effexor is SO hard to come off of when you’ve been on it for a while, good luck to you on that! I take Ativan for my panic attacks, it helps without knocking me on my butt! Also, the glossier stretch foundation… I sent an email asking for help shade matching after sending an instagram message. Sent the exact same picture both places and they gave me two VERY different shade matches, so… I haven’t bought it 😂. I want to though
Did you go to Florida state? I feel like our backgrounds are crazily similar, I lived in Dallas my whole life and then went to FSU for college, graduated in 09.
Me, just wondering if Kackie will try the new bare minerals foundation soon. I don't own a foundation (gasp) but I'd like one for the rare occasions I might wear one. And, me, in Texas, it's 90+ still.
I use mostly glossier. I guess because I feel like most makeup looks too makeup-ey on me. However, I use setting spray in between layers which for me keeps it looking skin like but allows me to build it just a bit more.
Omg my old dog Buster used to do to me what your old dog Ollie used to do to you!! 😂😂. My husband & I always joke that Buster was trying to take me down! Ok, since you tried on the Chanel Fall-toned blush here, I couldn’t resist, became unhinged, blacked out & bought it from someone on Mercari….see ya, ❤ya, THANKS KACKIE 😅
Pro tip- I use Duo eyelash glue on the insides of my gauge holes and then wait a couple seconds then press them together. I’ve done this for years, nothing bad has ever happened (I mean it’s meant to be used right near a very delicate mucus membrane). I like your ears! But it’s nice to have an option for when you want not have them. AND you can glue them shut and then put in a normal earring. That’s my Ted Talk.
I'm the same age as you and just recently discovered Angel Olsen's body of work even though she's been out album since before 2014 and I'm obsessed. I think i was only listening to Anna Calvi's first two albums and beyonce drunk in love at the time lol. Olsen's most recebt album is a bit too country for me. But love her older stuff. You might like her too!
I have to say I was delighted when I saw that Glossier extended the shade range...but am quite disappointed that nearly all of the lighter shades are warm toned. I'm a true light neutral color and also got the L2 (I usually wear G11 mixed with G10 in their old shades). I would have honestly thought the L2 shade had an olive undertone but I do think it looks slightly more neutral when it dries down. I went to my local Sephora to try to find a better match and the associates there thought L2 was my closest match. I honestly would like it if there was a color that suited me more.
I might be off because everyone is different, but I also mixed G10 and G11 and have neutral undertones, and I was shade matched to Very Light 4 and feel like it looks right
I have my nose pierced, a septum, snake bites, and gauged ears. I've had it all since I was 13, and I'm 28 now. I don't think I'll be removing any of it for a loooong time. Just feels like me. Ya know? But I can relate to the feeling in control. I lost my mom at 13 and I felt like my life spiraled out of control and that's when I found my love for body mods.
Loving the beige affair we’re having but have you seen Katie Jane Hughes new video of the strawberry makeup she did for hailey Bieber? It’s fjord cheeks in such a delectable way 🍓and I’m still melting in TX and can’t even think fall yet 😭😭😭
Fake palindromes is one of the best songs ever and oh my goodness crystal castles and neutral milk hotel and band of horses and rogue wave and phantogram
When you were listing out the bands, I realized I know Beach House because my 17 year old listens to them and puts them on in my car. She’s my “cool” kid. 😂.
Gorgeous look! Thank you for making me feel way old and out of date. I didn't know one band you spoke about when you ran through your playlist. Not one. I guess there's a big difference between going to college in 1992 than 2005. I'm surprised I hadn't heard of any of your bands from my kids. I now feel ancient.
I just got my ears closed up after 21 years. I feel very indifferent about it. I knew it had to be done at some point. The sooner the better because our bodies obviously heal better right now vs 10-20 years from now. But I definitely feel a piece of my identity missing lol. I had mine done with a dermatologist at the cost of about 1300 dollars.
WHAT ? Summer Abroad is gone gone ??? Oh no... i was about to place an order for 4 of the blushes... i'm so sad, i've been following your channel since 2018 😭😭😭
I had the absolute WORST customer service experience with Glossier and since then, as petty as it seems, I just cannot bring myself to buy from them again. Does anyone else do that? Not buy from a brand because of their CS?
I love body mods - funnily enough, my mom was so against any of it; fast forward, I move to NYC and go ham sandwich on my ears and face then went home THREE TIMES before my parents even noticed the difference and then they were like “it fits your face - you look so cool/unique!” 😂
Blah! “Can I please inhabit my body, that would be great” Yeahhh sooo me= same ditto same🤦🏻♀️ Thank you for knowing this moment. Also me: EXTREMELY trepidatious to throw on my new glossier purchase upon spying the shade tonality vs my actual face irl (shoutout to color theory eyes) Ok. Focusing now. Kackie take the wheel🩵
Wow not me watching mob wives non stop thinking ratalie Natalie was... a mob wives reference 😂maybe this is your brush's secret backstory. Also definitely not a doctor and definitely not my business but might I mention "desvenlafaxine" as someone who was on Effexor for over a year with side effects. It's the metabolite of Effexor so its like same but different because science.
No we haven’t. I’ve tried many luxury brands and their foundation doesn’t break up on me and their concealer is amazing. So I would say no we haven’t outgrown them.
I feel like I've finally grown *into* Glossier. I'm on the back end of 29, and finally age/retinoids have gotten me from oily and acne ridden to normal skin that I like the look of more than any foundation. I'm 44 and still waiting to be less oily! 🤣 Someday, hopefully!
Kackie, I’m convinced you’re in your prime. 😆❤️😘 You look glorious, your knowledge and expertise is vast, and you’ve maintained trust and integrity on your channel. Sending you love, gratitude, and high fives.
Oh my GOD 🥲🥲🥲
I LOVE that your kid is so into your makeup! So freaking cute!!!
*Sobs in florida heat*
Same, sweating in Baja
My tears turning to steam in Texas 😢

I just want you to know that having a bunch of Dunkin over Starbucks in your neighborhood is THE MOST jersey thing
My playlist starts about 9 years ago too. We love exposing our kiddos to the music from the past that we love.

STARS. Broken Social Scene. Metric...What a time, good lord...
OMG. Love all those bands.
And which brush did you use for the concealer?
Beautiful lady, where did you get that sweater?! The color is amazing. I have red hair and am in need of a good green-brown sweater!

My bike in the Netherlands is called Rattle-y Natalie for very obvious reasons-- got that from your last year haha
The way you're talking about your kiddo reminded me of my kiddo except he would never put it back. Ever. 😂😂
I think the Starbucks drink was either the gingerbread latte (amazing!) or they had a shortbread one for a while.
Woot woot repping v89!!!! 🎉

And, me, in Texas, it's 90+ still.
I didn't even know they had one so lemme check it out lol
I saw it at Ulta the other day, but my tiny human makes it impossible to touch anything! It looked 💣 though.
The Chanel eyeshadow looks like you’re rubbing a Lancôme Juicy Shaker on your eyes! I know it’s powder, but I can’t get past it. 😂
I’m curious about the new shades from glossier but not going to shop until current one is almost empty
I have been waiting for this jewelry/body mod talk FOREVER! I don't have IG, so I don't get to ask the questions.

Yes. Glossier formulas are all different and not for the better especially from Sephora
You mean getting the foundation at Sephora and then getting it at glossier would be different formulas??
love the playlist ♥️ for Destroyer but … you’re missing Rubies! that album is perfection! 😊

WHAT ? Summer Abroad is gone gone ??? Oh no... i was about to place an order for 4 of the blushes... i'm so sad, i've been following your channel since 2018 😭😭😭

Toasted Graham from Starbucks
I had the absolute WORST customer service experience with Glossier and since then, as petty as it seems, I just cannot bring myself to buy from them again. Does anyone else do that? Not buy from a brand because of their CS?
Yupp felt that! Not from them but other brands yes! My mom won't continue to support. Also what happened 🤭
You are an indie queen 👸🏻
Exquisite music taste

I was shook this morning it was 68 degrees in NJ and i didnt know how to dress/act 😅
I love body mods - funnily enough, my mom was so against any of it; fast forward, I move to NYC and go ham sandwich on my ears and face then went home THREE TIMES before my parents even noticed the difference and then they were like “it fits your face - you look so cool/unique!” 😂
👏👏👏👏👏
Blah! “Can I please inhabit my body, that would be great” Yeahhh sooo me= same ditto same🤦🏻♀️ Thank you for knowing this moment.
Also me: EXTREMELY trepidatious to throw on my new glossier purchase upon spying the shade tonality vs my actual face irl (shoutout to color theory eyes)
Ok. Focusing now. Kackie take the wheel🩵
2 things I didn't know about you you're an Aries and x florida girl. I'am both no wonder I love watching you.
