    One of the greatest amps ever in my view. I have used mine for over 5 years now. Super reliable, consistent sound. Amazing with pedals. Good for any environment from home to gig. At first I thought it was expensive, but I can safely say it's been worth every dollar and more. I still like my tube amps, but these days the Quilter continues to get the most use by far.

    Bought one two months ago. As a former big time tube snob I have now crossed over "to the dark side" :) I won't give up my tube amps, but mercy me! Quilter has really done something really right. Black, brown, tweed, ++++++++ tones and more.

      I said the same thing about not giving up my tube amps about 3 years ago. I now have the Micro Pro and the 200 watt tone block, but I sold my tube amps cause I simply never used them. Just curious, do you still have your tube amps?

    • @bikersoncall
      @bikersoncall 2 года назад

      Why would you not give up your tube amps if you
      found a tones that you're crazy about?
      I'd sell mine in a heartbeat if I found better or 'as good'
      tones.

    With so many cool options, I wish they
    would give us complete settings to ballpark -
    match artist sounds, based on a Les Paul,
    or Strat either or both, that would give us
    a base or foundation to start with.

    plugged in a drop A seven string into one of these. soooooo much freaking tone. I was doing everything from originals from my bands Premeditated to Brad paisley and van Halen. Even the shop owner was laughing at me because everyone who plays on that amp either complains that there is no gain and low end for metal and it's only for classic and low gain styles of music. I got a full range of tone from this little thing and the foot switch makes it even better.

    The only thing is that you should have displayed all of the Amp voices without distortion. They all have so much gain that they all sound almost identical, you should have done that test clean so we could actually hear the difference. With the gain you put on they all sound like rock n roll except the tweed a bit

      Have a Mach 2 HD and it's great...but, the 101 Reverb is more intuitive and better if your base tone is Fender Blackface moving to Mesa Mark 1....

    Corey, Excellent review of the Mach 2. I like that you listed out the other equipment that was being used in your review. The one thing you missed though was to say which Mach 2 you were playing thru! Was it the 8", 10", 12" or 12" HD? I am having a difficult time finding demos of the different speakers in the Mach 2 combo.

    Love that tweed voicing. I still prefer my Tone Block in terms of how it fits into my current rig, but I'd love a head version of this if I wanted a guitar/amp only setup.

    I think it is a very nice sounding amp and good demo. It seems very portable and well built. Unfortunately it does not tell me enough about the amp to buy it. All though crunch tones are fun, how does it sound clean? How about high gain sounds? Can it do transparent tones suitable for an archtop? It would be nice if one could have the voicing of the amp only affect one channel. I myself would love a combo that would still allow me to have a transparent voicing for my acoustic, electric voicing for electrics plus a microphone channel to sing. Being able to switch the voicing of the amp would be very useful.

    can an unmiked micropro mach2 8" carry a small room (small club/bar)? Does it cut through even with a loud drummer (unmiked)?

    • @jnh73
      @jnh73 8 лет назад

      +jmpido You'll hear yourself on stage if it's not mic'd up, but if it's a loud drummer you should mic it so 1) your audience doesn't start bleeding from the ears (the drummer is already doing that, so no need to add to the pain) and 2) the amp and speaker don't zoom past the amp's sweet spot.

    Very Very usefull demo. very good sounds, I like it. Is it still possible to use it at ... bedroom levels ? Is it possible to use both input (guitar and Mic- line ) at the same time, if I want to play with a backing track ?

    I was surprised that you said the Voice function applies to both Channel 1 and 2. I assumed that Channel 2 only took on the gain2, eq2, and reverb. Am I wrong on this? Thinking about it more, perhaps you were referring to using Gain 1 vs. 2 on channel 1 - or do you really mean that channel 2 also has toe voicings?

    • @realcoyotekings
      @realcoyotekings 5 лет назад

      "I was surprised that you said the Voice function applies to both Channel 1 and 2. I assumed that Channel 2 only took on the gain2, eq2, and reverb."
      You are correct. The vid is not.

    • @SweetSpotSC
      @SweetSpotSC 4 года назад +2

      The voice function, Limiter and High Cut do work with both channels, but you have to have the foot controller. When the foot controller is plugged in the amp becomes channel switching and you can plug into the top channel and switch between the 2 channels enabling the voice settings with both. I owned this amp for a year and a half before I got the foot control and realized this! Lol The foot comptroller should come with the amp or there should be a switch on the amp to enable guitar functions in channel 2 without it.

      @@SweetSpotSC I have the 2- foot controller now and it does change things.

    @QuilterLabs is the effects loop series or parallel? I see in the manual that it says the effects loop output “interrupts” the signal path, but that doesn’t seem fully clear to me. However, I am guessing that it’s series, not parallel. Sorry if you’ve answered this question previously, I just couldn’t find the answer.

    Great stuff from Quilter. I use a Micro block 45 behind my mfx Digitech rp1000 and get a great sound out of it.
    Yet I feel that some stuff such as this amp and the footswitches are far too expensive!

    Old school tube amp guy, but almost sold. Question - think I would prefer the 8" speaker version instead of head BUT one application insists on zero stage volume. With 8" speaker model, could I run direct out to PA with master set at zero to achieve this? I've been told that running it no speaker plugged in could cause damage

      @daddaladda 5 лет назад

      Actually it affects both channels. (Of course the characteristics would be more notable on the distortion channel.)

    • @SweetSpotSC
      @SweetSpotSC 4 года назад

      The voice function, limiter, boost and high cut works in both channels but you have to use the foot controller to enable it. When you plug the controller in it enables channel switching. They have really should come with the foot controller or have a switch to enable channel switching without it. I am the same for a year and a half before realizing this. LOL

      the type of person who buys a quilter amp is the type of fastidious nerd who would also have 6 spares on hand at all times and baby them all

    So this is more of a rock/hard rock amp vs the MicroPro 200 right?

    • @MrAsat01
      @MrAsat01 9 лет назад

      I recently purchased the MP-8+12"ext.cab+6 button foot switch. It will distort very much like the new Mach 2.
      As demo'd the "2" will give a much wider range of voices (single or dual coil pu'ps). If you play a lot of blues/rock the new "2" would work great. More jazz/country twang the "1" will work great...........both amps have no problem with pedal trains.

    • @CerealDust-nStuff
      @CerealDust-nStuff 9 лет назад

      Charles Bland Hey Charles, thanks for the help. For some reason I'm have a hard time distinguishing which amps you're referring too. I'm wanting to know the differences between the MicroPro 200 vs the MicroPro Mach 2
      You wrote: More jazz/country twang the "1" will work great.
      By "1" do you mean the MicroPro 200?
      I play jazz every sunday night at a winery but then I play out during the week and play mostly blues and dirty blues so I'm trying to figure out which MicroPro amp I should purchase.
      Thanks again for your help :)

      I have both the mp 200 gen 1 and the mach 2. The mach 2 can rock much harder. Both are great. I was using a Traynor YCS50H through the Traynor 4X12 slant cab for hard rock. Awesome amp. Great early 80s hard rock sound, but only that one sound. The Quilter Mach 2 can get an even better version of that sound plus all the other sounds. Try the lead voice with a little bright boost through a good 4X12 with a Les Paul or similar. Stats and Teles sound awesome too. SRV with the turn of the limiter knob. On the mp200 gen 1(Quilter 12 extension cab), I use the classic voice with a lot of "Hot" boost and gain with a wildwood 52 thinskin nitro Tele for a great hot country sound.
