    Very helpful video. I have both the MicroPro 10 and the Aviator 8, both different but really great. These are very good suggestions that I will adopt.
    In response to the question about missing tube amps, after having numerous problems with Fender tube amps I can't say I miss them at all. Great tones, problem free.

      How do you like the 10 inch speaker in your Mach 2? Someone at Quilter indicated that it does not sell well because while it does a great job on mid-range tones, the high end is somewhat rolled off and the low end is lacking in some respects. Is that true?

    • @TheScreamingFrog916
      @TheScreamingFrog916 6 лет назад +1

      I have the Aviator with the 10" speaker. I think it has a well rounded, full tone.
      Bass is strong, clear and not tubby, plenty of hi end sparkle and chime with my Strat.
      I rarely feel the need to move the tone controls, from the strait up position.
      I play with a variety of guitars, hollow, semi hollow, and solid body, in a variety of styles.
      Always get compliments from other tone meisters, including tube lovers.

    Thanks so much for this demo. I bought a Quilter and was struggling to get a nice Jazz tone. Now I've got it dialed in. Thanks

    Great thoughts about amplifying a guitar. Really good inspiration, but it did cost me some money - cause this older tube guy here suddenly started to think out side the tube box - and now a Quilter amp is on its way :-)

    Not taking anything away from the Quilter and the different settings but that Guitar in your hands sounds really good at pretty much wherever the amp is set !

    Wow, incredible run through and a lot of good points made applicable beyond just the Quilter amp. Love the Heritage as well.

    For me, I prefer the simplicity of the Aviator, combined with the expanded effects possibilities, when used with my Zoom effects peddles (also like being able to set effect combination presets for 1 button recall).
    The amp has lots of clean headroom which I need for my sound, and if I want to dirty it up, I can get what I want from the Zoom effects peddles.
    Best amp purchase I ever made.

    Hello from Kansas City, Missouri. Great video as always Rich. In my humble opinion the best Amps for Jazz are the Fender George Benson Amps, the Rivera Jazz Suprema's and the Quilter Mach 2's. Although the Benson Amps are big and loud compared to some of the smaller Jazz Suprema and Mach 2 models. Buy the way, your Heritage/Quilter tone is definitely a Lobster Dipped in Butter Tone. Thanks.

    thanks for a very helpful demo Rich! I really appreciate it. I play a Koentopp 17" Chicagoan and an old Tal Farlow and wanted to demo the whole Quilter line. I ended up with the Steelaire. Hard to believe how warm these amps sound. Again, thanks so much for a great video.

      Which Steelaire did you get?

    • @tonyrichardsguitar
      @tonyrichardsguitar 6 лет назад

      I just says Steelaire - I think they only currently make one model. Looks like they discontinued the heavy duty version.

      I'm sorry what is the speaker size 15"?

    • @tonyrichardsguitar
      @tonyrichardsguitar 6 лет назад

      Yes. It is 15" and it is an open back. Really warm round sound and very accurate throughout the dynamic range.

    Rich, thanks for sharing your thoughts on tone settings. I guess most of us are never fully satisfied with our sound and yet others find it lovely. I have this amp in a 12 inch version and I'm still tweaking for that golden brown sound.

    Great great lesson, thank you so much. I learned and understood a lot from your words 👍 "the good sound is the one you love in your head, then tweak the knobs to reach it!" Quilter micropro Mach 2 amp seems to be the goto jazz amp, better thzn the Roland Jazz Chorus 120 ?

  • @crimfan
    @crimfan 6 лет назад

    Even in a rock band you usually need to roll low end down so as not to compete with the bass and kick drum.
    Quilter amps are awesome. I have a MicroPro 8" of the original version.

    I started using Quilters not because of Jazz but. Because they sound good at any volume. Tube amps are too loud these days. The clubs are smaller and people are really sensitive in the ears these days. I’ve kept my tube amps but Quilter is a cool amp. I have the pro block 200.

    Wonderful demo of a terrific amp. That guitar is phenomenal! What is it? Would love to hear you do a video playing a “jam” with that guitar with that amp. Looks like a Quilter amp is in my future!

  • @jfar3340

    im not convinced. I think the pickups still do most of the job, whether its an archtop or a solid body. Archtop vs solid body doesnt really matter recorded. The feeling in the room is different however. But as far as recorded sound goes, whether its an archtop or solid body, pickups and amps do most of the work.

    Hi Rich! This looks like the regular mach 2 and not the newer mach 2 HD version which has more headroom, is that correct? I'm curious because I'm now questioning which is the more versatile amp considering I normally play through a fender tube amp that does jazz and classic rock equally well IMO. Want something lighter and more portable and now debating between the mach 2 and mach 2 HD. Thanks and as always definitely enjoying your playing and videos.

    Rich,
    If Quilter has been sold to a Japanese interest, what do you see happening with it going forward ? Also, is Pat Quilter sty ill going to be involved with the company, or is he moving on? Lastly, what will become of service for all the amps already out there?
    Thanks.
    PS. You're just a great player and you always sound absolutely great!

    You mean headphones (lol)? The "BROWN" tone is based off EVH. Also, Ted Nugent picked up EVH's guitar and it sounded like Ted, not Eddie.

    • @RichSeversonGuitar
      @RichSeversonGuitar  6 лет назад +3

      No The Quilter has the dynamic range like a tube amp. Pat Quilter is a genius who came up with new tech. Pat is the developer QSC which he sold to Japan now

      You mentioned it in another area, but will repeat that, it was QSC that sold to Japan, Quilter is still made in California and run by Pat Quilter.
      Love your work here. Thanks for doing what you do, and sharing with us on RUclips. Beautiful Jazz tones ❤️
