I am old enough to remember watching Bernard Julien play for Kent in county cricket in England. He was a mercurial performer, but on his day, he was as good an all-rounder as anyone then playing. His West Indies career didn't do justice to his talent

Julien played against NZ in their first ever tour of the Caribbean in 1972 (where Glenn Turner made four double hundreds, matching Patsy Hendren's feat). Trinidad had an unusual bowling attack that included Julien's left arm seamers, Raphick Jumadeen's LH finger spinners and Inshan Ali's left arm wrist spinners.
Keith Boyce (Essex and Barbados) was another somewhat mercurial WI allrounder, who could move the ball both ways at a fairly lively pace. Against England at the Oval in 1973 he made a hard hit 72 and took 5-70 and 6-77.

Wayne Daniel was a very under rated West Indies bowler......beautiful action....nearly as good as Micheal Holdings.

Terrible action: a run-up like wading through water with a totally all-muscle violent action.
Nowhere near as aesthetic or good as Holding

What a match from the Kerry Packer series & firstly thanks for this rare footage . West Indies defending a paltry score on a good batting pitch & it looked like a cakewalk for the in form Aussie batsmen, but the West Indies just kept plugging in & wrested the game away by winning it magnificently. So fortunate to witness it.
I just love watching the Kerry Packer world series cricket umpteen times. I never get tired of it with such lovely commentators calling the shots.

I was there as a kid. I believe it was also the first time the Albion style of helmet was worn when Rod Marsh opened with it on. It was also David Hookes first match back after his broken jaw. The crowd erupted when he hit Roberts for those 2 sixes.

Great to see these games. In Trinidad, we would only get the scorecards in the papers (and sporadic tv highlights on my parents black and white). Windies were really awesome back then.

Ray Bright was a much better bowler before WSC. Playing so many one day matches against the best batsmen in the world caused him to bowl quicker and more defensively and he lost his loop flight and spin. Unfortunately he never really got it back.

It's a pity this venue was lost to cricket as it had a great atmosphere and had the scope to be done up into a major modern stadium depite the fact that it was built in the early 1880s.
Was eventually demolished in 1998 and became Fox Studios in 1999.

Was this 8 ball overs in this season of World Series Cricket? Also, I notice they call it the International Cup, and was a 40 overs game limit for each innings. Did they have two formats of limited overs cricket that summer of 50 over games and 40 over games or was it just this Cup series of 40 over games?
