They didn’t have a name for the song when recording it. It was just the ‘heavy one’ with positive lyrics about coming to terms with taking responsibility for where the subject of the song is in life and deciding to go forward with a new attitude. So as a bit of a joke - they inserted Metalingus as the temporary title on the song board while recording. After awhile, they just liked the name and it stuck. Has nothing to do with the song.

Alter Bridge have 7 albums covering almost 20 yrs. The last of which was Pawns and Kings, an absolutely amazing album. They don't have a bad song. Check out some of the lead guitarist Mark Tremonti's solo stuff. 5 albums that are a little heavier. He said that when he usually writes a heavier song he saves it for Tremonti. Alter Bridge, what an awesome rabbit hole to dive into. I will be watching for you to react to more Alter Bridge.

Nice intro to this truly awesome band. I'm shocked that you've never heard of them. Three of the four band members are ex-Creed...new lead singer/rhythm guitar is Myles Kennedy. Their whole discography (seven albums) is just fantastic. Hope you can get around to listening to more from them.

Alter Bridge is an incredible band.
Their story goes back many years. Back then they were called Creed. The singer of the band Alter Bridge. (Myles Kennedy) is the new singer. His voice is incredibly versatile and unique.
This is particularly evident in the song Watch over You (Unpluged).
The song Black Bird (Live at Wemblay Stadium) is an homage to the song Black Bird by the Beatles.
Alter Bridge's Black Bird is a unique song with many unique parts of the song.
So if you feel like reacting to this incredible band again, I can recommend these two songs to you.
