May be it can help, car was slow accelerating and rough idle resulting to stall after everytime i drove for few mile and stop at signal or shopping. I checked cleaned maf sensor, throttle body,replaced pcv valve, ignition coils, spark plugs and so on. But culprit in my case was oxygen sensor. So before replacing several parts, just check by removing sensors like maf, oxygen etc and by the way there was no error in ecu or checklight.
Hey buddy, so thanks to your advice I went through the process of checking the air filter, the MAF sensor and the throttle body. I noticed that the throttle body was clean, the air filter was clean and getting enough air. Then I suddenly disconnected the MAF sensor. Once disconnected the car began to breath steady. This was a brand new MAF sensor. Good thing I kept the old one. I replaced it with the old one and now the car breaths great. I truly appreciate the lead. It allowed me to find the problem. I just subscribed and like your video.
Great video. This happened with my 2017 malibu. I went out of town and drove through a sand storm. First I put some bad gas at a station. Put some stp and premium gas to fix. Then, when I got home the stalling started at stop lights. It was confusing because the power would go dead and each time it happened it would take longer for the car to start again. But I put a new filter(the filter was filthy) then I cleaned the throttle body. It still stalled, then I cleared the codes and it worked.
Wow,great video! My wife owns a 2013 Grand Caravan and it stalls when stopping and sometimes even turns over or shuts off. I saw the filter and it looks a bit dirty,but I don't think it would be the problem. However,I will start from there. Next I'll try to use that carburator cleaner,as soon as I find the throttle...
Forget the carburetor, it has injectors since maybe 15 years. Air filter would need to be clogged to make it stall. Maybe your fuel pump (check fuel press) or cam sensor.
Very informative video. I changed the plugs, coils, PCV valve, MAF sensor even cleaned IAC valve on my 2001 Expedition. Basically,, " trial and error " Good thing is it sounds great. But it periodically stalls and shuts off. I'll try cleaning the throttle plate thoroughly instead of spraying it by putting a hole in the rubber housing unit. Keep doing what you're doing.

My 1990 volvo gle started stalling when i got to a stop and was shaking a bit but when i go it doesnt do it , it runs fine so its definitely starving for air thanks man! Ima check it out.

Say I got a 2003 Toyota Avalon put a new fuel pump cuz when I went to the store and it didn't want to start again so I Changed the fuel pump and still nothing if I put starter fluid it starts but dies back out

Can the upstream and downstream O2 Sensors cause this also? I changed out my purge valve and took out my throttle body and gave it a good cleaning, put it back on my 2012 Ford F-150 3.7L but it still stalls. I know for sure I have bad O2 sensors because I got P2196/P2198 codes and I smell the fumes coming through the exhaust. I won’t be changing the sensors till this weekend but I need to get an idea of what’s next if changing the sensors won’t work. I’d appreciate any information you can give.
When I come to a stop I have to throw it in neutral to keep it from dying out. I changed the PCV valve that did not help clean the throttle body blades, that did not help check the mass air flow sensor it looks pretty clean cleaned it off put it back in that didn't help. Any more ideas do you think I could have slipped timing or cam position sensors maybe? It's a 2018 Dodge Grand caravan.
My 2011 vw routan shutsoff after driving for a will and the car is hot highway driving and I slow down at a red light it shuts off but of I put it in park it will stay running. But when I put back in drive it wants to shut off again. What do you think it could be.

I'm not a mechanic, but I am trying to learn the fundamentals to assist in future diagnosis of my vehicle. So, if the throttle body valve is closed at the time of a stop, I am having trouble seeing how it being dirty could cause problems. Or, even though the valve is closed, does it permit some air to go through? But if when it is closed no air passes through, how would cleaning it solve the problem? And what I would also like to know is where does the engine get air from when the throttle body valve is closed?
Hey buddy, sorry, just seeing this..OK, at idle, theres a metered amount of air needed and required to support idle because the trottle blades are closed (never all the way-by design) keep in mind, this air flow most likely coming from the air intake sys which is filtered by an air filter. If that filter badly dirty and restricting air flow and you come to a stop, that air restriction will choke off the airflow thru the trottle body and the engine will be force to stall out or run badly..Same with a dirty trottle body, if airflow restricted it can choke and starve the engine of needed air to breath..Some of the older cars used a idle air control motor to allow a much needed different pathway for metered air intake..The answer to the last part of your question is that the trottle body blades are never completely closed, theres always an opening for a small metered amount of airflow to allow proper idle...Can you please sub the channel for me, trying to get it to grow, thanks
My Jeep does the same thing. ‘12 wrangler with 200K HARD miles on the clock. It’s a second hand play toy at this point not a daily but they use the same engine 2.6 pentastar. Going to try this if nothing else.
I found another reason to stall in idle ,. It was not a mechanical part, it was a failing alternator regulator, some times it fails to maintain 14v and the time it start to fail voltage goes 18v+. ECU shut off the main relay and stop all electrical supplies to protect the car electrical system. I use OBD tool to record voltage graph during 1-2 hour driving and when I got the stalling , i checked the voltage graph. Thats the way I found it. I checked all connections , all fuses .. nothing was wrong . It was only a simple regulator built in behind alternator. Hope this will also help to explorers .
Thanks man! I think this fixed our problem. Cleaned out throttle body and the filter then took it for a 40 min ride. I did several hard stops to see how it would act and it did perfect. Gonna buy a new filter tomorrow
Good video. All respect, I might add a cpl things tho. First, I've found yup there IS a difference between carb cleaner & throttle body clnr. I first used carb clnr on throttle body; got a little stuff out. Then later checked chemical comparisons, got the tbc cleaner, got enough crap out to plant tulips in. For SURE use the tbc. While doing this, I found a cracked vacuum hose right at the EGR nipple. Had enough length to snip it & reattach, all problems solved! Do more videos bruh, best to ya...

I have a 1995 Dodge Ram 1500 and had a lot of work done in the last four months,tuneup,timing chain,belt,oil change,new brain panel,etc And it’s been running fantastic… but in the last two weeks I got gas and now it starts but as soon as I put it in drive and take foot off gas it turns off and engine light comes on and stays on. I put gas treatment and filled it up. So is it my accelerator paddle or what? Thanks !

I hope you read this... Would my O2 sensors cause this issue on 03 Ford E150? The cats have been gutted by someone and has bad exhaust leaks around them (no welded back good it looks like). I have a question. Just changed fuel pump and coil was bad I changed that. So try to go work drove half way and my rpms won't go past 2000. It shakes and when try to slow down rpm drops and feels like it's about to die and it does. Started in AM to warm up and it died. Need help bro

Wow, the dealer suppose to be your last shot and if they gave it back to you without being repaired, or telling you whats wrong, thats not cool..Curious, did they even drive it to duplicate the problem? There are tons of things that will cause your car to stall, I cant single out any one, the car has to be diagnosed and problem duplicated. The best time to figure this out is when it happens to you. Someone will have to drive this car until the problem happens then verify what was lost to cause the stall...it gets complicated
After a throttle body cleaning make sure you check your cars idle relearn process. My Lincoln has an idle relearn process that’s required after doing anything with the idle.
PLEASE HELP MR. PT CRUISER!! Timingbelt broke. Replaced it. Timing marks are perfect on cam gears and at crankshaft. Car starts up immediately than begins to run rough and throws on check engine light. At 3000 rpm has bad hesitation when shifting into next gear with automatic trans. Code p0016 comes up. Hi I have a 07 Chrysler PT Cruiser naturally aspirated 2.4 L engine. And I am trying to replace the idle air control valve on the throttle body somewhere and the idle air control valve is not going all the way in so I would like to know is there a way that I need to insert it? Please help
@@OnlineMechanicTips the reason I'm replacing it it's because every 3 days my car will stall and cut off and then cut back on like if nothing happens and then it would drive good for another day or two and then it would start out again while I'm idling at a stop sign or red light and someone mentioned to me it may be the idle air control valve and yes it is the correct idle air control valve because it matches the old one that I have taken out
@@savealifecounselinggroup1070 O wow, yes a sticking IAC valve will cause those symptoms but so will a host of other things. My complete 20 years of working on these I have yet to replace a IAC valve. Thats not to say yours not bad. Well to answer your question, there is only one way to installl it if its fully retracted. Without being there its hard to tell buddy.

So my 1997 mustang (V6) is having an issue where it’ll shut off whenever I turn to the right. When I turn to the left there’s no issues. I changed out the power steering pump, IAC valve, Alternator, battery. Just trying to get a general consensus of what could be causing this.

wow guy..Something like that should have triggered a check engine light..You should have fault codes in your computer..If not, the problem must be something thats not monitored by the computer such as fuel pressure and secondary ignition...Now I do know once a car reaches operating temparature (closed loop) The o2 sensor kicks in but you really need the check engine light on to put you in the right direction..dang, thats odd
I'm having that exact same problem with my 2001 Chevy Cavalier. Since it's dead winter right now I almost have to drive it as soon as I started in the cold for it to ride fine. Once it warms up it starts stalling when I come to stops or if I idle and tap the gas.
2007 Honda Civic it starts, but seconds after pulling off it stalls out, shuts down. I coast to a spot start it back and it does the same thing over and over. They keep saying possible main relay.

Grand caravan 340k km / 212k miles new throttle body new map sensor new air filter and yet getting off highway coming to a stop it still stutters. Doesn't really stall but feels like it wants to force it's way forward a few times until it regulates itself after a few seconds. Any ideas? Already cleared ECU. At a loss of what to check next right now. Thanks for any advice!
Question. What if the vehicle starts to die out when driving it. Then for it to start back up I'd have to wait about 5 minutes before starting it up again. Or just keep turning my key again and again. And just hope it gets gas and starts
This sounds like your fuel pump dying a slow death. By waiting 5 or more minutes, you giving it time to cool off and work again. When it gets hot, it may fail again..What year make and model car is this? Also are you subscribed to the channel?

What if I cleaned out my throttle body and maf with carb cleaner last year and now the stall issue @ stop signs and traffic lights appears again? What could that be? Also I did a visual inspection and I don’t see any broken vacuum lines or anything like that. Could a bad 02 sensor cause this? Also, I did move my EGR valve and eat your temperature sensor off the car and I cleaned them all out and it seems like the storm issue got worse since it happened. Any ideas of what it could be? Still shaking and running slow l had the catalyst converter on both sides replaced still doing same thing so I replaced the cam shaft still so please help because l have put a lot of money in my truck. I have been having reduced engine power. I pull over and restart it and it's fine. Code p1516 grand prix. Yesterday when it did this, I pulled over and it wouldn't restart. I'm hoping it's throttle body or just cleaning. Not sure if there's new codes, it was doing p1516 when this happens
My 1995 D21 Nissan pickup has high idle when I stop.Then stalls when I drive the check engine light is intermittent. Today I was driving and it stopped for good.The engine will not turn over and the is no lights....nothing. I had to get a jump in order for it to restart. I am thinking my alternator is bad.

I have C240 2007 w203 112 engine, I have problem when the engine is running, the car shaking, I tried to unplug all coil, seems like 3 coils are broken, i have changed with new coil. but the problem is still the same. The engine on low RPM shakes the car a lot, after I try to speed in a free way, the RPM can go high as I kick down the throttle, but the speed and the power of the car wont go up. any idea why this is happening? I took it to the shop and they scanned it, it says some voltage issues spark plug) but I'm not sure about that, because after a while the engine runs normal. I tried to start the engine in the morning, same problems, engine stalling, but the engine is still on, no check engine light at the dash. I turned off the car, take out the key, and start the engine again, now the engine runs normal again.. I'm so confused
im having the same Issue with ram 1500 i replaced the ecm and it was fine for about a month ecm went bad replaced it and now doesnt want to start or crank changed the alt starter tried to bypass wire my fuel pump i hear it prime and replaced the battery post did a hard rest checked all my fuses battry is good all my wiring to the starter an alt i dont know what else to check

My 1990 volvo gle started stalling when i got to a stop and was shaking a bit but when i go it doesnt do it , it runs fine so its definitely starving for air thanks man! Ima check it out.

I have the same problem with my Buick lasabre. I have replaced mas, idle air sensor, fuel pump and filter, air filter, plugs n wires,and injectors. Is doing better on gas now but still rough idle and get up and go. I'm clueless... Help please.

Can the upstream and downstream O2 Sensors cause this also? I changed out my purge valve and took out my throttle body and gave it a good cleaning, put it back on my 2012 Ford F-150 3.7L but it still stalls. I know for sure I have bad O2 sensors because I got P2196/P2198 codes and I smell the fumes coming through the exhaust. I won’t be changing the sensors till this weekend but I need to get an idea of what’s next if changing the sensors won’t work. I’d appreciate any information you can give.

When I come to a stop I have to throw it in neutral to keep it from dying out. I changed the PCV valve that did not help clean the throttle body blades, that did not help check the mass air flow sensor it looks pretty clean cleaned it off put it back in that didn't help. Any more ideas do you think I could have slipped timing or cam position sensors maybe? It's a 2018 Dodge Grand caravan.

My 2011 vw routan shutsoff after driving for a will and the car is hot highway driving and I slow down at a red light it shuts off but of I put it in park it will stay running. But when I put back in drive it wants to shut off again. What do you think it could be.

I'm not a mechanic, but I am trying to learn the fundamentals to assist in future diagnosis of my vehicle. So, if the throttle body valve is closed at the time of a stop, I am having trouble seeing how it being dirty could cause problems. Or, even though the valve is closed, does it permit some air to go through? But if when it is closed no air passes through, how would cleaning it solve the problem? And what I would also like to know is where does the engine get air from when the throttle body valve is closed?
Hey buddy, sorry, just seeing this..OK, at idle, theres a metered amount of air needed and required to support idle because the trottle blades are closed (never all the way-by design) keep in mind, this air flow most likely coming from the air intake sys which is filtered by an air filter. If that filter badly dirty and restricting air flow and you come to a stop, that air restriction will choke off the airflow thru the trottle body and the engine will be force to stall out or run badly..Same with a dirty trottle body, if airflow restricted it can choke and starve the engine of needed air to breath..Some of the older cars used a idle air control motor to allow a much needed different pathway for metered air intake..The answer to the last part of your question is that the trottle body blades are never completely closed, theres always an opening for a small metered amount of airflow to allow proper idle...Can you please sub the channel for me, trying to get it to grow, thanks
My Jeep does the same thing. ‘12 wrangler with 200K HARD miles on the clock. It’s a second hand play toy at this point not a daily but they use the same engine 2.6 pentastar. Going to try this if nothing else.
It could also be the idle control valve witch keeps the throttle open why’ll your foots on the brake.

I found another reason to stall in idle ,. It was not a mechanical part, it was a failing alternator regulator, some times it fails to maintain 14v and the time it start to fail voltage goes 18v+.
ECU shut off the main relay and stop all electrical supplies to protect the car electrical system.
I use OBD tool to record voltage graph during 1-2 hour driving and when I got the stalling , i checked the voltage graph. Thats the way I found it.
I checked all connections , all fuses .. nothing was wrong . It was only a simple regulator built in behind alternator.
Hope this will also help to explorers .
Thanks man! I think this fixed our problem. Cleaned out throttle body and the filter then took it for a 40 min ride. I did several hard stops to see how it would act and it did perfect. Gonna buy a new filter tomorrow
Good video. All respect, I might add a cpl things tho. First, I've found yup there IS a difference between carb cleaner & throttle body clnr. I first used carb clnr on throttle body; got a little stuff out. Then later checked chemical comparisons, got the tbc cleaner, got enough crap out to plant tulips in. For SURE use the tbc. While doing this, I found a cracked vacuum hose right at the EGR nipple. Had enough length to snip it & reattach, all problems solved! Do more videos bruh, best to ya...

I have a 1995 Dodge Ram 1500 and had a lot of work done in the last four months,tuneup,timing chain,belt,oil change,new brain panel,etc
And it’s been running fantastic… but in the last two weeks I got gas and now it starts but as soon as I put it in drive and take foot off gas it turns off and engine light comes on and stays on. I put gas treatment and filled it up. So is it my accelerator paddle or what? Thanks !

I hope you read this... Would my O2 sensors cause this issue on 03 Ford E150? The cats have been gutted by someone and has bad exhaust leaks around them (no welded back good it looks like). Would you say exhaust leak or O2 sensor would be most likely culprit? I've already cleaned the butterfly.

Wow, the dealer suppose to be your last shot and if they gave it back to you without being repaired, or telling you whats wrong, thats not cool..Curious, did they even drive it to duplicate the problem? There are tons of things that will cause your car to stall, I cant single out any one, the car has to be diagnosed and problem duplicated. The best time to figure this out is when it happens to you. Someone will have to drive this car until the problem happens then verify what was lost to cause the stall...it gets complicated
Fuel pump. That's what happened to my truck
After a throttle body cleaning make sure you check your cars idle relearn process. My Lincoln has an idle relearn process that’s required after doing anything with the idle.

PLEASE HELP MR. PT CRUISER!! Timingbelt broke. Replaced it. Timing marks are perfect on cam gears and at crankshaft. Car starts up immediately than begins to run rough and throws on check engine light. At 3000 rpm has bad hesitation when shifting into next gear with automatic trans. Code p0016 comes up. Have also replaced camshaft and crankshaft positioning sensors. CAN U PLEASE HELP. THANKS
Its simple my guy. Seems you out of time. The best way to tell is to monitor vacuum. If you idling at between 14 - 16 inches of vacuum you out of time

Hi I have a 07 Chrysler PT Cruiser naturally aspirated 2.4 L engine. And I am trying to replace the idle air control valve on the throttle body somewhere and the idle air control valve is not going all the way in so I would like to know is there a way that I need to insert it? Please help
O wow, if that valve all the way extracted, it may be hard to put in. Are you sure its the right valve? Also why are you replacing that? curious
@@OnlineMechanicTips the reason I'm replacing it it's because every 3 days my car will stall and cut off and then cut back on like if nothing happens and then it would drive good for another day or two and then it would start out again while I'm idling at a stop sign or red light and someone mentioned to me it may be the idle air control valve and yes it is the correct idle air control valve because it matches the old one that I have taken out
@@savealifecounselinggroup1070 O wow, yes a sticking IAC valve will cause those symptoms but so will a host of other things. My complete 20 years of working on these I have yet to replace a IAC valve. Thats not to say yours not bad. Well to answer your question, there is only one way to installl it if its fully retracted. Without being there its hard to tell buddy.

My 2000 honda accord 2.3L stalls when I come to a Stop sign and when I go to turn the car back on it will only turn on if I step on the gas will the throttle body through out codes If it's dirty?
Same with my 06 Honda Accord 2.4L it stalls at stops, start right back up. Hesitates and jerks when accelerating from a stop only

So my 1997 mustang (V6) is having an issue where it’ll shut off whenever I turn to the right. When I turn to the left there’s no issues. I changed out the power steering pump, IAC valve, Alternator, battery. Just trying to get a general consensus of what could be causing this.

Just got a 00 eclipse from a guy and noticed on initial startup it idled fine and driving down the road it ran perfect. First stop sign car died. Started then died immediately. Have to hold the throttle just a bit when stopped

I have a 2003 Honda Odyssey and i cleaned the throttle body and carbon build up, changed the air valve, and egr valve, coils and spark plugs but when its cool it runs fine but when i drive and it warms up soon as i get to a stop sign or red light it stalls and cuts off so idk what else to do i took it to a shop and its been there for a week going on two I don't think they know what's wrong so what else can i do to figure this problem out? wow guy..Something like that should have triggered a check engine light..You should have fault codes in your computer..If not, the problem must be something thats not monitored by the computer such as fuel pressure and secondary ignition...Now I do know once a car reaches operating temparature (closed loop) The o2 sensor kicks in but you really need the check engine light on to put you in the right direction..dang, thats odd

I'm having that exact same problem with my 2001 Chevy Cavalier. Since it's dead winter right now I almost have to drive it as soon as I started in the cold for it to ride fine. Once it warms up it starts stalling when I come to stops or if I idle and tap the gas.

2007 Honda Civic it starts, but seconds after pulling off it stalls out, shuts down. I coast to a spot start it back and it does the same thing over and over. They keep saying possible main relay.

Grand caravan 340k km / 212k miles new throttle body new map sensor new air filter and yet getting off highway coming to a stop it still stutters. Doesn't really stall but feels like it wants to force it's way forward a few times until it regulates itself after a few seconds. Any ideas? Already cleared ECU. Question. What if the vehicle starts to die out when driving it. Then for it to start back up I'd have to wait about 5 minutes before starting it up again. Or just keep turning my key again and again. And just hope it gets gas and starts
This sounds like your fuel pump dying a slow death. By waiting 5 or more minutes, you giving it time to cool off and work again. When it gets hot, it may fail again..What year make and model car is this? Also are you subscribed to the channel?
@@OnlineMechanicTips we cleaned out some filter and it runs alot longer. But It died on me again after about 30 minutes of driving. But this time it started up basically right away. I'm thinking the fuel pump sounds right.

What if I cleaned out my throttle body and maf with carb cleaner last year and now the stall issue @ stop signs and traffic lights appears again? What could that be?
Also I did a visual inspection and I don’t see any broken vacuum lines or anything like that. Could a bad 02 sensor cause this?
Also, I did move my EGR valve and eat your temperature sensor off the car and I cleaned them all out and it seems like the storm issue got worse since it happened. Any ideas of what it could be?

I have been having reduced engine power. I pull over and restart it and it's fine. Code p1516 grand prix. Yesterday when it did this, I pulled over and it wouldn't restart. I'm hoping it's throttle body or just cleaning. Not sure if there's new codes, it was doing p1516 when this happens

My 1995 D21 Nissan pickup has high idle when I stop.Then stalls when I drive the check engine light is intermittent. Today I was driving and it stopped for good.The engine will not turn over and the is no lights....nothing. I had to get a jump in order for it to restart. I am thinking my alternator is bad.

I have C240 2007 w203 112 engine, I have problem when the engine is running, the car shaking, I tried to unplug all coil, seems like 3 coils are broken, i have changed with new coil. but the problem is still the same. The engine on low RPM shakes the car a lot, after I try to speed in a free way, the RPM can go high as I kick down the throttle, but the speed and the power of the car wont go up. any idea why this is happening?
I took it to the shop and they scanned it, it says some voltage issues spark plug) but I'm not sure about that, because after a while the engine runs normal. I tried to start the engine in the morning, same problems, engine stalling, but the engine is still on, no check engine light at the dash. I turned off the car, take out the key, and start the engine again, now the engine runs normal again.. I'm so confused
im having the same Issue with ram 1500 i replaced the ecm and it was fine for about a month ecm went bad replaced it and now doesnt want to start or crank changed the alt starter tried to bypass wire my fuel pump i hear it prime and replaced the battery post did a hard rest checked all my fuses battry is good all my wiring to the starter an alt i dont know what else to check
