Hey everybody! Wow this video has really taken off! Thanks so much for your support! Several people have commented asking about how I did a few of the individual steps in this process that I, honestly, skipped over because my usual fan base likely had already seen me do it before. I honestly didn’t expect this many new eyes on the channel at once and to my new viewers I’m sorry I didn’t go into more detail, I’ll be more mindful from here on about explaining parts of the process I tended to take for granted. ALL THAT BEING SAID below I’m going to include some links to some past videos that include explanations on the parts I skipped over. I apologize for making you have to watch MORE videos but for now it’s the best I can do.
For those without access to foam or wire foam cutters, you can achieve a more simplified version of this using wood craft sticks, wall filler/spackle (to mimic rough plaster), and cereal box cardstock (for the roof shingles).
That is very true! I should try to do a video that way now that you mention it. Show people that there’s more ways than just the way I do it. Thanks for the inspiration!
@StorycraftSociety agreed! I was thinking the same thing... awesome video but a video achieving something similar with junk drawer supplys and cereal boxes would be neat... minimalist but still look good for beginners
The irregularity of the brick work on the lower level is amazing. For one quick moment I thought you were going to sacrifice one of your beloved frisbees for crafting material ...
@Ryan Sullivan: A Junk Journal gal I follow, Pam from The Paper Outpost, has a saying. "Everything is a craft supply, untill proven otherwise". :-) Actually, I thought the same as you, about the frisbee!
@@nerowolfga8543 "Pam at the Paper Outpost" is who coined the saying. She sells the t-shirts on her junk journal channel. Love watching her, she's so up and lively! If you haven't already, you should check out her channel.
I like that you use a wire brush to make the timbers and the door and then you cut them thin that's faster and easier than using real wood plus it has better detail
Thes are so cute, and you are so talented. Great job on the video, very easy to follow and understand. I wish I had a bigger craft room. I would seriously entertain a new project.
I have a bird house just waiting for making into a great project like you've shown. You've got my creative juices flowing. My house is a different style so I may change a few incidentals like putting on a thatched roof. Imitation is the most sincere form of flattery. Thanks for the video.
Thank you so much for all the information and education I am getting from this projects and you. I am now ready to do some of my many projects and I’m so grateful that I came across your channel. God bless you.❤❤😊
You are so Awesome. You make it look so easy. It’s amazing how you can make a great looking $30 house prop out of a $1 bird house ….Amazing! Love it! 👍👍
I've seen those little bird houses in Family dollar. I never imagined that you could do that with them. I'm really impressive. Very informative video. Thank you.
That's great, I have some wood birdhouse in my cottage, great project. (If only the snow that's as tall as me was not in the way between the house and the cottage.) I guess I'll be saving the video until later. lol
I would absolutely love a longer cut of this, with footage of you making the foam decorations and details that are added at 3:14 it would be really informative to see the process for that, as well as details like how you make the individual bricks etc. overall a great video! Would just love some more detail
Haha I guess I took for granted that I’ve touched on that stuff in past videos. Let me see if I can dig up some of my past videos that would explain that stuff.

Hi Garmin, I'm new to your channel and wanted to compliment you on doing an excellent job on demonstrating and explaining your build process. Beautiful job. Looking forward to seeing your new video builds.
First time to your channel and so much better that watching the crap on TV. I found it relaxing and intriguing at the same time. You should put a small light inside. Love it!
I’ve never played d&d, never build mini houses, but this was in my recommended and I enjoyed it. I love the final result, looks amazing. I keep envisioning one of those old school water wheel things next to it though. I don’t remember what they’re called but it would be super cool to see you create something like that. I’ll def be watching more of your videos and subscribing.
that is such a cool idea!!! I wish I had the space to set up a terrain area to use things like that!!! But it really is a fantastic idea! And that house is beautiful!!!
Wow. Not even sure how this ended up in my feed, but I'm glad it did. This was a great video and I really loved how this birdhouse became this little house. So cute! I'm a crafter, but don't know if I would do something like this, but it was really nice watching you piece this together. I also liked how you chatted with the audience, made us feel a part of it too. Good stuff! I don't play D&D but I love what you're doing here so I subscribed. Can't wait to check out some more videos!
Outstanding work! I'm so amazed that you made plain bird house into something magical! Amazing detailed work, great job! New to your channel, so glad I found you!
This tutorial is AMAZING!! Could you please share what type of tiny saw you used to cut the perches off & what type of foam you used? I’m new to miniature crafting & need to order all my supplies online 😩 Thanks so much!!! 🙏🏻☺️
It's fascinating to watch what people can do. I've watched only a couple videos, but sure I'll watch more. Beautiful results, I wish I could do something like this, I don't even know where to find those craft supplies
Very interesting build, lots of techniques used! As someone in the uk surrounded by a lot of old old doors, though, gotta admit to being confused about the door bracing? Medieval doors right up to modern ones here only ever have bracing on the INside. On the outside you would just see straight planks and the doorknob. So I am so confused about bracing on the outside. Would love to understand why it’s being done this way? Thanks!
Fantastic love your stuff. About the door, I always thought that the Z went on the inside of the door so that you have a better finish and can't be kicked in easily xxx
I absolutely love this. You'd be surprised just how many people love this kind of stuff like I do. It's so darn good. Edit: I could see using this one for the perfect gnome Garden. 👏 👏
Hi there, so glad I found you and your channel. I love crafting and this will definitely be one of my go to channels. Your video was inspiring and very easy to follow. I´m looking forward to checking up on your videos.
This was inspired. I’ve been working with miniatures since lockdown and creating this gem from an inexpensive bird house was really a joy to watch. I’m thinking that it looks like 1:44 scale, I’m going to keep my eyes peeled, I’d take the back off and use the bottom as the divider between the first and second floors. But great vlog, great delivery. Thank you.
I just discovered your channel. Your video and presentation was amazing so I’ve subscribed. I’m normally into modeling (tanks and planes), but your art has stirred up a new interest for me. Thank you.
great video. 2 Questions: 1) You build a lot of houses, how often do you run encounters where you need a whole town area? I'd love to see you show us more encounter ideas/concepts for using these awesome houses you build. 2) Green Foam? Tell us more!
Great Job, That Looks Great When All Done. Makes Great Christmas Village Houses And Great Presents. That Is Beautiful Work And Seems To Be Great Fun Making Them Also.
This turned out really great (and despite being a new viewer, I don't mind the skipping over parts because this isn't the only channel I watch that does diorama-style builds) The only thing that gripes me about videos like this is the intro which implies that the whole thing cost you $1.24 - which is partially true but only for people who do this regularly. For people just getting into the hobby who don't have stacks of XPS foam or foam-core or mountains of cardstock lying around (not to mention the tools you use); it's going to cost them (and thus; people like me) a hell of a love more than $1.24 to make something like this. XPS foam sheets (at least here) are NOT cheap (mostly because you have to buy in bulk and that gets expensive if you're just trying it out), foam-core I've never actually seen anywhere near me, I'd probably have to get it on amazon or something and again; it's not cheap. I get this isn't necessarily designed as a beginner video but when you title something in this way, you're going to feed that algorithm and bring in a lot of new viewers (youtube loves those thrifty-titled videos) and I just think it's a little misleading (maybe not quite click-bait but certainly along those lines). Still, as I said; it turned out great and you've still got a new sub with me, I just feel like a bit more background into the cost(s) of this hobby could be better explained.
Good morning! I saw the thumbnail of this video and loved the house. Compared to some of the other crafters I've seen, I feel very comfortable watching and listening. Your art is fabulous! I would love to try some of this. Subscribing now!

Will the plastic wire brush work on pink foam and where did you get it from?
You showed it I just didn't wait long enough.
No need for appologies, I for one do not mind watching more videos, quite the opposite 🙂

HAY, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOU TIP. IM PRETTY BROKE N I LOVE MAKING STUFF OUT OF JUNK.👍😃🙏💜💚
Exactly what to do! And imo, I like that better because foam is eeeek chemically
Cardboard egg cartons can be soaked and made into pulp then use the permanent pva glue to turn into a putty and create whatever.
@StorycraftSociety agreed! I was thinking the same thing... awesome video but a video achieving something similar with junk drawer supplys and cereal boxes would be neat... minimalist but still look good for beginners
I came for some crafting ideas, but I stayed for the weirdly interesting education about door-physics.
😂😂😂
AWESOME!!!!
Thanks!!
My favorite part is the wonky, slanted chimney.
I KNOW RIGHT!?! I don’t know why, but it just makes me happy.
“We all grow together.” I love that. New sub.
Thank you!
This is by far one of the most simple, yet well done terrain buildings I have ever seen. So much fine detail.
omg a frisbee as a curve tracer. that is the ULTIMATE crafting hack 😂

Thank you so much! It means a lot!
Love it when that happens. Something in the corner of your eye just.... pokes at your attention. It sortof whispers... ;-D

That’s awesome!

What a super fun project. I love it when things like this say, "Take me with you! I'll make the perfect..." So cool

It’s XPS insulation foam! As far as I’m aware, there’s no difference between the pink and green kind other than color!
Ok cool, thats good to know. Thanks for the response, I can't wait to see what you come up with next.
