I love your teaching methods! My pet peeve is when content creators say things like, "I see beginners doing this (x) all the time!" Always making beginners "wrong". Ugh, that makes me turn the channel so fast. I think even the most beginner pieces can be perfect! I like how you talk about making opportunities not mistakes. You really do put the JOY into painting!
Your outlook on watercolor is so interesting to me. I love the color effect you end up with. They are a harmony like no other. ( if that even makes sense)😊
BTW, I use Canson Watercolor Paper and love it. Since it is more affordable for me. Maybe one day I will be able to afford 100% cotton, but until then, I am happy. 😊
Really appreciated all of these helpful tips, Kristy. I like the fact NO painting has to be complete at the time of the "completed" process, that you can come back A YEAR later and finesse a painting. Lifting, pulling, smoothing...and unexpected colour. Love your prickly pear cacti. It reminds me of my visits to NM where two of my siblings live.
Oh this brings back memories of when I first started. I asked you why does my watercolor look like acrylic? You answered almost immediately: "Not enough water." Thank you, thank you, thank you 🙏💖 I love cauliflower technique too. Trees: lay down value layers for trees. Let dry. Cover everything but trees and spritz lightly. Remove covering paper and let dry. Return and see the leaves that look like they took hours to paint. 😘
@@KristyRiceI once kind of accidentally made a hard line, but I liked it so I left it. Showed my friend and she was like "oh, I love that line! How did you do that?" 😂
This video is so helpful, Kristy! I am currently working on October birth month flowers, one of which is the marigold. I struggle working with the yellow/orange family. I get the paint in too heavy too early. I have one petal where my sketch line was still too dark after erasing and it Ieft a line in an awkward spot. I worked with it, but the venetian red I was using for the darker inside of the leaf got too dark and now I can't lift the color enough and it formed an edge on that pencil line. Ugh. I think all I can do now is go darker on that petal because and make the entire flower darker. I am bummed.
Hey girl what about atmospheric painting? If you already did a video on this please forgive my ignorance but I’d LOVE to see your take on this painting technique. I love the way it looks but I bet I’d absolutely go crazy with your execution style 🥸
Beautifully done, Kristy!! 🥰 Great examples! 👍 If you wanted to check out the two minute sketches videos I have been enjoying, they are done by Art by Heather, a tiny channel, but so good and fun. Your style is not hers, which is awesome, but at least you could see an example I was talking about! 🤗

So true!
watercolour is the most versatile medium and that's why I love it so much, even when the paint is dry, it's still not permanent 🥰
I totally agree!
They're all great techniques. I love the detail lines, it's such a pretty effect 🌸
One of my faves!!
That's a great mindset; turning misstakes into opportunities!! I need to do that more, thank you. I loved the paintings you showed here🥰🥰🥰🥰
Thank you!!

I totally agree!
Good morning Kristy ☕ thanks for the tips~ God bless from the PNW ❤️✝️🙏🏻

So glad!😃
As a total beginner this is great- oh can’t find link to other videos for beginners
Ahhhh sorry just added!
Thanks so much will watch
Omg I loved the hard edge.
😘😘
Once I tried cotton paper I couldn't use anything else. I'm using Baohong Academy and Arches paper for my watercolour painting.
I feel the same way:)
Thank you some much for sharing this , it help me tremendously
Hey Kristy - can you share when you’re going Live again?
Is there some way to find your schedule? Thanks 🙏
It’s always Thursdays at 2 PM, but I have it scheduled already for this week so you can see it right on the homepage of my channel :-)
@@KristyRice Thank you!

I do have a video about it! Check out my landscapes playlist. It’s the one with the mountains and then a cactus landscape :)
@@KristyRicethanks honey! I’m obviously loving you and can’t wait to discover how you share this subject ❤
So adore you beautiful lady thank you so much for your guidance
You are so welcome
Do you ever use masking fluid? I’m making so many “mistakes” with it and every tutorial I find they just do it perfectly the first time 😅

I love Art by Heather, too!!! ❤️
@KristyRice I hope you enjoy!! 💞 How is your dad? Dahlias are stunning and colorful flowers!! 🏵🌈 Looking forward to it!!👍
@@michelerene8228 She does incredible paintings and makes it look so simple!! 🤗
❤ thank you
You're welcome 😊
Sometimes due to layering the painting loses it. It becomes too dark to cover up.
This is a great time to go mixed media with gouache or acrylic!!
Ok this kind of collection of tips makes me slightly less scared of watercolour *but this oil painter is still scared*😂
Naaa just jump
In!!!
I thought you just turned it into a bird? Lol
Hahahaha!!!
