    You are correct in advising micro growth will occur as foods age in the fridge. My friends and family will tell you that I am not nerdy, but am a food scientist. Once again, thanks for your sage advise!

    I sort of meal prep...I don't have a specific day or system but I always cook enough for another meal later in the week and I make soups and freeze a couple quarts for days when I don't feel like cooking. Where I'm lacking is the snack department. You've encouraged me to make some hummus today and prep some celery, carrots, and cucumber.

      HI Kimberly - I just thought of something for your next meal prep session and it might also give you a snack option too...make a tortilla española! Every once in a while, I make one and we enjoy it for breakfast one day, lunch another day or just a sliver for a snack. Glad to hear your enjoying hummus...I'm trying to investigate other options for dips since I make hummus almost every week so I'll keep you posted! Cheers, Caroline

    I don't really meal prep in advance except I am fine eating something for 2-3 days (depending on what it is of course). I'm retired so I have a lot more time than a working person of course. BTW, these are good ideas. Rainbow Plant life (she's vegan but the ideas would still work), says she makes a grain, roasted veggies, and a sauce or two and shows how to put this together (though I think this is really only safe for about 3 days in the refrigerator. I wouldn't be opposed but I don't feel the need. I still like your videos though.

      Hi JJ and thanks for dropping me another line! I watch Nisha too, she's great. But actually I learned some important lessons about what works for me from her...in other words, I had to go light on the number of dishes! I tried to follow one full episode plan and ended up with way too much. So I guess there's all sorts of intentional and unintentional lessons in the process! Sounds like you have it figured out too! Cheers Caroline

      @@mediterraneanminutes Yeah, wouldn't work for me. And I get tired of grains fast (except for excellent multigrain bread--seem to never tire of that :D). It might work for someone though--but they need to be careful with cooking grains ahead of time. They might look okay but they really are bacteria farms.

    Thanks Caroline, I’m getting myself organised now, not as well as you, but my wastage is way down on before.
    I’ve been using the glass storage for the past year and it works a treat. My boys can also get involved when it comes to deciding what to eat if they can see what’s prepped or leftover.
    Cheers from Australia 🇦🇺

      Hi again Lorraine - So nice to hear from you! I’m glad to hear you already have some of these ideas in play. Seriously, the glass containers made such a big difference to me. Sort of silly how simple things can make such a difference but they work! Even better if it helps you to enlist some “sous chefs” in the process 😉 Cheers, Caroline

    Ha! I am sixth of seven. My brother N is in your position. He was my parents’ golden child. Were you the one who could do no wrong among your siblings? I’ll admit that in many ways he was and is the best of us all.

    • @mediterraneanminutes
      @mediterraneanminutes  26 дней назад +1

      Hi Dora - Actually I have a video about prepping and storing fruits and vegetables that you might enjoy too. As far as grains go, when I frist bring them home, I freeze them for at least 24 hours to make sure I am not bringing any bugs into the house, then I let the humidity dry out for a few hours, and pack them into Ikea containers with tight lids in dark cupboards. The video you might enjoy can be found at ruclips.net/video/hpgZU3Pgi9E/видео.html
      PS, sorry it took me a few days to respond, I was on a short vacation!

      @@rfidino Hi Ruth and thanks for adding your thoughts. Actually, George is exceptionally hard of hearing so I'm very sensitive to those issues. And I asked his opinion too and he prefers the captions that can be turned on and off which all of my videos have always provided. The ones I recently experimented with are permanently locked on and can't be removed. So, at this point, I'll stick with the captions that are available when you click on the captions button and not use ones that are "baked in". I hope this works for you but I'm really glad this comment chain brought up the issue, considering how important it is in my own household. Cheers, Caroline
