Their vocal harmonies give me goosebumps. So beautiful
Solid gold voices❤😂
THOSE HARMONIES! THEN, NOW AND FOREVER!!!
In the crazy world we live today, you two are a breath of fresh air. I grew up with Mamas and Papas. I used to play this song on my record player when I was 7. I used to love Aquarius by the 5th Dimension, too.
Thanks for the oldies.
Same👍
They are indeed
This song was first sung by "5 Royales" then "The Shirelles". The latter popularized it.
Another super reaction--love you guys so much. The Mamas and Papas charted ten big hits in about two years. This song went to #2. Also, the group organized the first rock pop type festival called MONTEREY POP. BLESS YOU BOTH! PLEASE do more of this group. The woman on the left in the video in a yellow dress is Mama Cass.
The one and only momma cass. Mom talked about her most of my life. Said no one will ever have a voice like hers. 50 years later - mom was right - no one will ever sing like momma
Have you heard Cass Elliot (she was called Mama Cass) do Dream a Little Dream of Me? It's such a beautiful song. Sultry, sexy and a lullaby at the same time!
One of the best groups to come out of the 60's. They sang beautifully. Their harmonies were just unbelievable.
I was a senior in high school and I absolutely fell in love with this song!
You came of age in a scary, but gorgeous time. 🫡
What a brilliant singer mamma caz was she maid the mammas and pampas great voice this is a great song
Love you two..... This, is, such a great blast from the past!... 🇬🇧 Keeps these oldies alive!
Oh my god. I cannot believe you guys did this, was going to request it.
When my mom (rip) had alzheimers at the end, I'd sing this to her and, while she didn't know who I was, it bathed her in golden happines each time.
They may have been around 2 or 3 yrs but many great songs. Great harmonies. Creeque Alley, this, I saw her Again last Night and California Dreaming are my favorites. There will never be a decade like the 60s for music unfortunately. Definitely my favorite decade.
Another nice reaction, guys. I enjoyed it. Have you done Creeque Alley yet?? It's my (and probably a lot of people's) favorite. It's kind of the story about the forming of the Mamas / Papas. This song was written by a member of the band The "5" Royales and they recorded it in the late 1950s. Then The Shirelles did a cover of it in 1960. Then the M&P. Great song. I don't think there's a best or worst version. They're all so great. All the best.
Mama cass nothing compares to you you are light and soul of the mamas and the papas
I just love you two (and I loved watching your reaction to this gorgeous rendition of this song)! You can't go wrong with the Mamas and the Papas. This was a beautiful rendition of this song (and it still gives me chills, too). This song was from 1967. The band was done by 1971, and Mama Cass Eliot sadly died in 1974 at age 32. I believe the beautiful Michelle Phillips (the one singing at the very beginning) is the only currently surviving member. She was married to John Phillips (the dude with the hat). I'm sure you've done "California Dreamin'". Some others to react to:
Monday, Monday
Dream a Little Dream of Me (featuring "Mama" Cass Eliot)
Creque Alley (A kind of back story of the band, set to music).
Go Where You Wanna Go
I Saw Her Again Last Night
Twelve Thirty
The Mama and the Papas "Greatest Hits" album is one that everyone should have in their collection.
Thank you so much, for not interrupting this beautiful song. The combination of harmonies and the beautiful voices of the ladies should be listened to without a break .
It is so enjoyable to see you young ones listening to the music I grew up with.
A teen during the 60's was the best! Great music.
So waaay back. I was way to young when this came out. But I remember hearing it in passing. I was the oldest child so I wasn’t exposed to anything until years later. I must have been in 1st grade when this came out. Of course, I later learned, listened to, and appreciated all of this music. Much of it I still get into. Led Zepplin is a perfect example. Cass Elliott’s voice was like listening to an angel.
this song was a HUGE HIT by the Shirelles in 1961!
Like 'em both. The Shirelles "Will You Love me Tomorrow" is in my top ten favorites of all time. Also loved their "Baby, it's you" and "Tonight's The Night".

Awh Mel you so blessed, you,re husband is so handsome..bless you both..love you
The Ms & Ps were the ultimate hippies in the 60s!❤️🎸🎼✌️😎
I just bought their vinyl in a vintage store! So good! ☮️
Loved me some Mama and The Papas!
Listen to their ENTIRE catalog. You won't be disappointed!
feels so good.......
Great reaction to a great song :) Thank you! Another one by the Mama's and the Papa's you might like is called "Twelve-Thirty". This is a live performance from the Ed Sullivan Show, June 22, 1968 if you decide to give it a look :) ruclips.net/video/RWb7F1mxljE/видео.html
Love the Mamma's & Pappa's....
You can feel the soul of the 1960s in their music.
I like to think that in some dimension somewhere Mama Cass' love for and recognition of other's talents has made her a legendary producer.
Magnificent.
All great voices but boy that Mama Cass always blows me away!
Great tune !! Thanks for the reaction
⚘thx guys
Can still recall listening to this on a transistor radio on summer nights back in the 60s, during the Battle of the Bands.
Love you guys reaction to thier version of this song.
Cool piece of trivia: Back in the '80's the thin girl, Michelle Phillips, was a regular on Knots Landing, a TV spinoff of the popular Series Dallas. Knots Landing actually lasted for over 10 seasons, eclipsing Dallas by 1 year. Anyway, during a love scene with Michelle Phillips' character on Knots Landing, this song was played. I just thought that was so cool at the time.
An iconic song with beautiful vocal harmonies. What happened to music like this? Is anyone experiencing goosebumps?
One of their songs can currently be heard on a commercial for a phone provider. “Go Where You Wanna Go.” It’s a great song, although the 5th Dimension had a bigger hit with it.
Now go check out the Temprees version of this song. This song was originally sung by the 5 Royales.
The singer's ( light shirt) daughter is Chynna Phillips, part of the group Wilson Phillips. They came in 2nd place on the Masked Singer this year. Also her stepdaughter is Mackenzie Phillips from One Day At A Time. Their father is the male singer with the fur hat John. Mama Cass was the one who gave Janis Joplin her big break by booking her at music festival.
Everybody loved the Mamas and the Papas. Love your reactions.
I was about 13 when I bought their Greatest Hits album. For some reason took it to school and my maths teacher said 'Dedicated' was the best song ever.8
Right on
❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
Yes indeed baby.
First recorded by the 5 Royales in 1958. The recorded by The Shirelles in 1960.
that is one big piece of happiness....
Beautiful ❤️
Yes mam😊
love love love this❤️🇬🇧
😅I very much miss this type of music,no group today can equal this quality.
Also Dream A Little Dream of Me" would be a good reaction too.
Well we give y'all a 10, how bout dat! The grooviness of that time is also right here, right now. Love never dies, it just takes turns I guess. Music can break down walls and build bridges. Pontiff means bridge-builder. Y'all are pontiffs. What is today's decree? Peace on Earth. Goodwill toward all.
You guys are great! I love watching yeeeeee!😛😬 we
I love Michelle Phillips voice intro to the song; she is the only one still love
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤👍💋
The only song where Michelle was up front solo.
CHILLS!
You guys are such a Blessing!🥰🙏🏼❤
They are the Original, The Temprees recorded it years later, and did a solid justice to this Classic!

RIP, John, Denny, Cass.
Thanks for Relieving THEASE Tunes BELIEVE ME THEY HAVE BEEN DONE PLEASE PLAY YOUNG GIRL GET OUT OF MY MIND GARY PUCKETT AND THE UNION GAP RESPECT 💯 HAPPY 2023 💝👍
They Covered this song but the original was recorded in 1957 by Pawling and Bass, the group that made it a hit was The Shirelles in 1958 which is still my favorite,, Mamas and the papas covered the song in 1967...
The Shirelles had a hit with it before them.
They did in fact. 🤟🤟
Oh no! Next thing you'll tell me Pat Boone wasn't the originator of "Ain't That a Shame" or "Tutti Frutti." Oh, snap!
@@John_Chu tutti frutti was little richard. Miss him alot.
@@John_Chu THEY didn't know that the Mamas and the Papas sang it. They have reviewed the Shirelles before. I was simply stating that the Shirelles had a hit with it before them. They might want to react to that version as well.
@John Chu 😆❤️. As for the dullards (harsh, I know) who commented on ur reply...🙄
Listen to Spanish Harlem and California Dreamin. I grew up during that time and I appreciate the 2 of you bringing back the memories of my youth. Keep listening and reacting. 🥰
Beautiful
I was a kid at the time, and now i think of how all of this great music was being made, but young men were dying in Vietnam.
WILSON PHILIPS-HOLD ON
I can’t listen to this song without thinking about the 1985 movie “House” with William Katt and George Wendt.
In '62, The Shirelles 1st did this. This is from Fall of '66. ---------------------MJL< 76 y/o
Fire in the sky is referring to the steel mills and the mining industry scarring the land. ❤
they were us hippies choir.
With love from a Baltimore fan!
I believe they were The Originators
Oops
seems like everybody had a turn with this song in the 60's the 5 royals were first in the late 50's seems like everybody had a turn with this song in the 60's the Shirelles then after 4 or 5 other bands the Mama and the Papas and after the Mamas and the Papas there were a couple before the Temprees in the early 70's had their go...hard to pick a favorite but i think it would be between the Shirelles and the Mama and Papas
Michelle Phillips is the only one of them still alive.
They made some great music. Thanks for playing this one.
Check out Mama Cass and John Denver... you can't go wrong
I just finished listening to the both of you both giving an assessment and your opinion on the Pink Floyd song, Us and Them. Straight afterwards, I watched you assessing the Mama's and the Pap's singing Dedicated To The One I Love.
I'm currently in Sydney and I love watching the both of you. You both seem like such a wonderful and beautiful couple. Keep up the great work.
The group that made the song a hit was the Shirelles who made this as a doo wap song. It was played regularly at my skating ring.
Cass Elliot had the most amazing voice!!!
You know, I was gonna say, that I didn’t know that the Mama’s & The Papa’s sung that song, as much as LOVE… Music! But I am familiar with that!!! But, I do know that one!!! I was very little! Anyways!!! Love you!!! As always!!!
Nice honest song.
I found out from Chynna Phillips. John and Michelle Phillips daughter. that Michelle”s real name is Holly. Michelle is her middle name. Chynnas daughter looks identical to her grandmother Michelle
Chynna has a channel on RUclips.
Mama Cass finally got her walk of fame star. Very awesome.
Hey, I know “The Tempree’s,” version too! And it is The Tem’ Prees. That’s how you pronounce it! Love ya!!!
This is about the fifth cover of the song made popular. You wouldn't know it though. It seems like the song was written for them. You should listen to the Shirelles sing this.
Great voices and great harmonies
Hey guys! When's the next paid requests stream? I want to turn you on to the greatest drummer ever .... Buddy Rich. His Solo From the Hague will leave you speechless !
I think the Shirelles also had a great version of this beautiful song
The harmonies get me!!
There were two people who are married in that group..try to figure it out😊
☮️💙💙💙
This song is first done by the Shirelles in 1960 give credit where it’s due!
You MUST hear Gemeni Child from them. ROCKER!!
Mama Cass on the end Michelle Phillips next Denny doutry John Phillips on the end
The Shirelles version is the original and definitive.
Shirelles covered it from The 5 Royales, who wrote it and had a r&b hit with it 2 yrs before.
Mama Cass was SO GREAT!!
check out their song....words of love
This song request has a weird title..it's called "Creque Alley"..it's them singing about how they met and formed the band.Mammas and Pappas..they were all solo performers until they met ..rest is history..please give it a shot!..💯✌️
