  • So you have to paint a bunch of doors. You may have painted a few, you may have never painted one in your life before. You say, maybe some smuck on RUclips can explain the best way to do this so I don't go crazy and take 45 minutes to paint one six panel door. Well, you are in luck my friend because Jeremy of Super Vassar Brothers has painted over 1000 doors and has outlined the pattern you can follow even if you have never painted a door before. In six minutes your life will be changed... forever

Good stuff. You make it look easy. The last door I did I rolled it. Flat panel door. Off white, semi gloss with Sherwin Williams solo.
It came out awful. From straight on it looks great. From a side viewing angle it looks like a cloudy textured roller mark mess.
I really need to figure out wtf I am doing. My next attempt will be with a brush to get the paint on the door... and a Whizz black roller to flatten it out.

If it’s a flat panel door you may want to give this video a look: How to Paint a Flat Panel Door | 3 Easy Steps

I usually roll flat panel doors but there is technique and skill involved. Also, not to poop in your cheerios, but Solo paint kinda blows in my experience. I think you’d get better results with emerald urethane or even the regular emerald in semi-gloss.
Keep at dude. You’ll get better with reps 🫡

After watching countless numbers of videos with all of your tips, which are absolutely excellent. I have been painting with both Benjamin Moore and Sherwin-Williams for years and it is very obvious that your show is being mostly funded by Sherwin-Williams which kind of rubs me the wrong way. I don’t like any kind of biased anything is that is what is a part of our government and media it’s whoever offers the most money, however again I love all your tips. You guys are truly professionals.

I have received zero money from Sherwin Williams for any of the content I have made. I only talk about products that I have experience with and that’s what we use in our business. For future reference, if I did receive money from any company to endorse a product then I am obligated to disclose that in my content.

Always great to see your videos. Followed this application pattern and absolutely works. The colors you choose are fantastic. Do you find a big difference between the vegas and the cortez when brushing the enamel? Home-moaner here so not sure I would. Thank you.

I like the Vegas for laying down the emerald urethane. To me it gives be a better looking finish with how it lays it down. It might be a bit slower than the Cortez but I like it for trim and doors

Thanks for this video. I’ll give this method a try. I’ve always just painted from top to bottom, because it’s easy to keep track of what you’ve already painted, you always have a wet edge, and if a drip falls off your brush it doesn’t fall onto an area you’ve already painted.

This is my beginner pattern. The next video is my more advanced pattern that I currently use. It’s closer to what you described.

Why not just use a covered end mini roller like a 4" true blue 3/8" nap and go to smashville? I can paint both sides of a prepped door in 7 minutes doing that. No dealing with all the directional patterns, brush marks, drips and leaves a more uniform finish. You must be a little old school with that dinosaur brush from brushing doors with Satin Impervo back in the day 😂.

I’m not a fan of the rolled finish on these types of doors. I’ll roll doors that are the flat panel type but if there’s a grained pattern on the door then I prefer them to be brushed. I think it looks better than a rolled finish. 🦖

If you’ve got the space and the setup for it then that’s the move. Have you timed yourself for how long it takes you to prep, setup, rehang and clean the sprayer out?
