Paul really was a great friend to John. For a while, he kept him in check and supported him unconditionally. When they split up, even when they weren't physically seeing each other all the time, John knew that Paul actually cared and once called him "extraordinary" and that he was like a brother to him. I know that Paul still cares about and loves John.
