I am hard on cash, mercedes AKA Christine is making me take her to mechanic too many times all for the airmatic suspension. I have 2004 e 500 and my rear tires are always having problems. Last night I found one side in rear passenger leaning while the driver side was normal. I want to do as much as I can to DIY this never ending problem. I bought a OBD-II EOBD scanner from walmart. Will it work or is the scanner too cheap?
It's the brass valve leaking on top of the struts. They close at 7-8 Bar (normal level) when there are ok. Replace the valves and car keeps leveled even if you rip the whole Airmatic system out.
I once had this issue with a CLS 63 2012, it dropped on the first week out of the dealership. They found moisture in both the airbags somehow and they replaced them & good to go.

I have this problem but, only on the N/S/R. It's random as well. Sometimes stays up for 30mins other times it'll last 15hrs. Bizzare. I have concluded 2 things though. 1. It your cars suspension is failing when parked and the event is random. I'd say the air bags are holding air. If the car is self leveling on start up, then the compressor is doing its job. It's then a case of a leak elsewhere or sensor or valve issue. None return valves on air suspension cars are a notorious weak point on a lot of cars that use air suspension systems.

The condition described here seems unlikely that both airbags have a leak. It is possible that air is escaping from another part of the airspring system for both bags to be down? If both airbags are leaking, you are in for a hell of a lot of money to replace them. Replacement can be very labor intensive. The airsprings alone cost over US$1200 each but the labor will take this repair job closer to $3500 - $4000.

For a sales pitch, you'd think your scan tool could be more specific about what needs fixing.
My thought also. All the diagnostic tool did was to advise that things are not as specified - I think that was fairly obvious anyway.

If it is coming up it is not the compressor, but more likely the valve control unit.
