    Such a gorgeous looking and sounding game (looks tons of fun too), but it mostly makes me happy to see digital games get the physical treatment like this. 😊

      It's a real curiosity this game. That fact it was a download game makes it even cooler that we are getting an official release. And what are you doing leaving comments? Get back to editing.

    Sega Genesis / Mega Drive owners have been eating well lately. Nice to see the SNES getting some love. Thanks for this first look.

    I've played this. It's like the Megaman-X to the original Shubiman games on PC-Engine/CD (3 of them). Those original games are pretty ropey (3 on CD is OK), but the SNES one's not too shabby

    • @RetroGamerBoy

      It's the first time playing it for me and I had a lot of fun. There could be a few more platform elements, but other than that a very solid game.

    I picked up a Satellaview addon this year for collectors purposes. It’s such a cool little piece of history, DLC and game pass well before it’s time. Sega Channel was basically the same thing in the US.
    Sadly it’s a very expensive paper weight these days

    • @RetroGamerBoy

      Still cool to own a rare piece of gaming history.

      @@RetroGamerBoy I love the history of consoles. I lucked into a model 1 genesis/MD that had the expansion port for the mega modem, which I didn’t even know about until one of your videos. So of course I got that paper weight too

    The TG16 original was clearly inspired by Mega Man. That was a cool game too. A bit of a different mechanic than Mega Man, but a lot of fun, and a very nice looking game too.

      Yup "Rickman" "Shockman" they didn't try as hard to hide the inspiration with the game title 🤣

    The concept looks pretty cool.
    I also like that the Shockman trillogy is available on modern plattforms. We can't get enough of retro games being available for direct purchases.
    The dying of physical media part is super depressing. But you're right. The DVD/blu ray section at on of my local retailers has gotten so small.
    I checked Netflix recently and they removed one of my favorite shows IZombie. Which wouldn't be so bad if I could just buy a DVD set. But season 4 and 5 never got a physical release.
    I hate this dark timeline we're living in.

    • @RetroGamerBoy
      @RetroGamerBoy  11 дней назад

      It's unfortunately the future. The younger generation doesn't care about physical media either. They just want quick access to a broad catalogue of stuff.

    Lovely graphics for a Super Nintendo game, very well scaled to the console's resolution. The generous use of colors also helps the visuals, probably due to the lack of concern about the size of the ROM, something that couldn't be done in the past due to the economy of memory chips. And by the way, how many megabits would this cartridge be?

  • @Chicomite

    I've had a reproduction of this game for years, it's light on depth, heavy on satisfying and fun hit detection, and running through the levels. It's like a fast paced Mighty Final Fight in a Mega Man X style aesthetic, with a bit more straightforward level design. I like these types of games that aren't 10/10's, they don't reinvent the wheel, but are still a lot of fun.
    My reproduction always freezes right around that cool dinosaur part right in the beginning, freezes on a real SNES, on clones, everything(haven't tried my Analogue Super NT yet). I played it on a Retron 5 once where it dumps the whole rom to play. I was able to play through it like that before my gen 1 Retron 5 power supply literally exploded and they wanted me to pay $80 for a replacement console. I haven't researched lately, but i think i remember it being more than just a problem with my reproduction's rom, and other ppl experiencing level 3 to freeze. Glad we'll get an official release to not worry about that, plus I'll finally be able to know what they're saying!
    I'm really mad about King of Demons, I missed out on that one, i do have a very nice repro of it too that works just fine. Though that game has English in it, but I love it so much I wanted that physical and didn't have the money. Just to realize I had $30 credit on Rondo 🤦. And there was kind of a 2nd chance sale, uhhh. Both games are really short, hopefully the next one is something a bit bigger, I'd like an official NTSC Pop'n Twinbee Rainbow Bell Adventures in English, I remember a bunch of Japanese text somewhere in that game. NownI really love that game, Rocket Knight Twinbee, are you kidding me, such a cool mash up and solid game.

      Interesting, so do these official re-releases interest you?

    • @Chicomite
      @Chicomite 11 дней назад

      @RetroGamerBoy Depends on the game, but yes, I'm gonna get this one and I have several others, I like these. I really like the quality of Retro-Bit official reproductions, they always go out of their way to do something cool with the package like the Mega Man Wily Wars comes in a really cool box protector with Mega Man art printed on it. Or how the RB releases have that cool hardcover box with embossed/foiled lettering.
      My favorite were the Iam8bit official repros, I missed out on the Battletoads NES. But I was able to get the Mega Man X SNES official reproduction, and actually got the rare blue glow in the dark cartridge that they advertise as a 1 in 8 chance I believe. I was so hyped, it's really awesome to have something new but actually rare and special from my favorite video game series. Plus that box might be my favorite game box of all time, a fully embossed Mega Man X 1 box art us really something in person.

    It's nice seeing this and Cooly Skunk both getting basically new releases for SNES. Would still love to see a lot more actual brand new SNES games though. There's a few in the works, mostly ports from Genesis, but it deserves many more and indeed more of its own games too. And it deserves some that actually show off its full capabilities as well, because that's not even remotely been the case with most of the stuff we've seen for it in recent times. I mean, there's some solid games and all, but nothing to blow people's socks off. And the SNES is still 100% capable of blowing people's socks off, more than I think most people actually realise and certainly more than some would ever admit. I welcome all these games though. And I'll just keep my fingers crossed for even more and even better in the future too.

      Why do snes game's have to look so cute and colorful, what a toddlers console 👎🏼

    • @inceptional
      @inceptional 14 дней назад +1

      @@Segas.Revenge Ask the developers, because, with faaar more shades of red in the massive 32,768-colour master palette vs the Genesis' 64x smaller 512-colour master palette, there ain't no reason SNES games can't look more "adult"--assuming having lots of blood is one of those things that makes games more "adult". That's for sure. They could even have semi-transparent splats of blood plastered over and running down the screen similar to the gorgous honey effect in DKC2 if they liked using the SNES' extra third background layer and some proper coloured semi-transparency, neither of which the Genesis is technically capable of due to its limitations. And Mortal Kombat II on SNES certainly isn't all cute and colourful and has plenty of "adult" gore and blood and gritiness and so on. But that's all I can tell you, kid.

      I find that the SNES community are just not that engaged with the indie scene. These Retro-bit releases will often sell 5k+ for the Mega Drive, but the SNES is lucky to break 2.5k. It's the same with Kickstarter. It's not the whole community, but it's just not as active.

    • @inceptional
      @inceptional 11 дней назад +2

      @@RetroGamerBoy Going by the fact that Cooly Skunk has now raised over £50K on Kickstarter [and counting], I don't agree that the SNES community is not as engaged. Well, you're technically correct regarding the indie/homebrew scene for each system currently, obviously. But I should say I don't believe the market isn't there if it's properly catered to, and imo potentially an even bigger one than for Genesis or really any other console of that era to be honest.
      49.1 million SNES owers vs 30-35 million Genesis owners back in the day and 5.28 million SNES Classic Mini owners vs less than 1 million Genesis owners in modern times means something very real and measurable. That's over five times as many people who jumped on a new SNES console than on a new Genesis console in recent times, so there's still a lot of SNES fans floating around who clearly are happy to spend their bucks on stuff related to that system when it's done right and they actually know about it.
      I think there's other factors at play as to why those SNES game examples are showing lower figures than Genesis on the likes of Kickstarter. There's probably a whole bunch of reasons and stuff to dive into there.
      My take is if there were a bunch of genuinely great brand new dedicated SNES-specific games being released by the indie/homebrew scene on a regular basis, I think it would be beyond debate at that point how popular the SNES still is and how many people are interested in buying awesome brand new games for it. I mean, they won't just jump on junk or mediocrity, and the release of five-year-old ports from Genesis and such aren't quite peak engagement moments either, but I think they would absolutely lap up properly awesome new SNES games. Until then though, the debate remains open.
      So, okay, you're technically totally correct based on the current situation. But I guess my take is that the current situation is part of the problem, and it won't likely change until SNES fans get a lot more new games that specifically cater to them on a regular basis and even some that really blow people's socks off. But that's on the SNES development community to help make that happen. And then I think the situation will very much change.
